One really simple (apparently not for her though) explanation to the "If this is the first time out for that horse, how does she know he kicks?" conondrum is that she found out he kicks during the ride. They started out somewhere in the middle of the group, but he kept kicking at the horses behind him, so she moved him to the back of the group.

Yes, what I heard was: Farouk rider, "Is it ok to come past?".. then the woman warned, "Well, she has already kicked." Farouk rider asks, "Would it been better to put a red tail ribbon on" Woman replies, "It was the first time."
When people train and ride horses this way (with no impulsion balance), it's like driving a car with an always open throttle and modulating speed by the degree of hold you have on the hand brake.

Thank you Rick for covering one of her videos again. I've seen quite a few of hers, and while some are good, others are just very upsetting. She is definitely always extremely quick to blame other people and never thinks she does anything wrong herself. She passes other horses extremely close all the time out on her hacks, and when she participates at hunts (like this is probably), she shouts at other riders who shouldn't be there in her opinion. Like when she was angry with someone whose horse had spooked and bumped into her (and said "Sorry!" as she did), this lady just shouted at her and then talked more crap about her in her voiceover, saying she shouldn't have come to the hunt if she can't control her horse AT ALL TIMES - but when she lost control of her own horse and it escaped, then she still had every right to be at the hunt of course. What a hypocrite.
FYI helmets are mandatory at such events, and it is quite often forbidden to veer from the path, so she probably couldn't have gone further into the field to overtake, but seriously, she should have just stayed behind the horse until the path becomes wide enough to overtake safely. She did get a verbal warning that the horse kicks, so there's no excuse whatsoever.

I suspect that horse has been trained to kick with a subtle command. I've known people who do this. The two riders are probably not fans of Farouk's rider. I think there is more than what went on in this video. Farouk's rider probably ran her mouth at the two riders before the ride and .video. It just looks like they were "ready for her".

There are strict rules in the UK for riding on bridle ways (ways for Horses to ride on) In the UK you respectfully ask to go past slow riders but she's says 'no he kicks' but it doesn't have a red tail ribbon which tells you from a distance, then says its his first time but if she knew he kicks before she still should have put one as its the rules. She can't go on the right as its crops. Tail ribbons that must be worn are: Red ribbon is kicks. Yellow is stallion. Green is young or inexperienced. White is for sale. UK is strict on riding rules. You can go close to horses as these are hunting/showing/endurance horses and used to groups but must wear a ribbon to signal issues.

Because in England, you HAVE to keep to the bridlepaths, as these rides are often on private land. You cant deviate and move into the pasture as this is considered tresspassing. There is a defined and noted etiquette that should be followed and each of these organised rides have written rules that must be followed. Kicking horses ride at the back of the field. And using the various colour of tail ribbons is another of those etiquettes. Rick, I enjoy watching your channel, but I really don't like it when you criticise other horse people. Whether you know better than them or not, I find it quite unpleasant that you feel the need to bolster your knowledge by bringing down other people.

SMH at Farouk's owner... 🙄😡 This was probably a 'sponsored ride' (where the fee paid for the privilege of joining the ride goes to a selected charity) and as others have said, it gives riders the opportunity to ride along a designated route along lovely, safe private land, which is normally closed off to horse riders.
But you always have a few of these rude and inconsiderate riders with these rides. They think it's acceptable to ride as if they're there on their own, so they usually try and do the whole ride at a fast pace so they can canter or gallop at every opportunity, never mind what's happening with other horses in front of them.
They would even overtake young horses who aren't used to rides like these and are easily upset by horses bypassing them at a faster pace, or ponies being ridden by young kids and led by adults who are walking next to the pony.
It's the very opposite of polite to bypass all the slower riders and then gallop off as soon as you've passed them!! 😡 Obviously it's likely to cause the slower horses wanting to canter too, as most horses would get 'revved up' and would want to catch up to the horse who had just gone past them and started galloping as soon as it got in front of them.
It's so rare to have the opportunity to ride across beautiful private land, safely tucked away from the roads and traffic, and then you have these inconsiderate riders who spoil it all for the rest of the riders.
Thanks for covering this video, Rick!

Now, will they? Who knows, if you've never ridden past that particular horse before. But you must ASSUME that it might kick, therefore, you keep a safe distance. Even a horse that has never kicked before, might suddenly decide they don't like the way Farouk is coming up on them. Therefore, just as you wouldn't run up on foot behind a horse you've never seen before, you similarly don't run your horse up on a strange horse. Lack of control on both parts. Not to mention, immense stupidity to ride up that close on horses you don't know, you can see she's pulling hard to the right but the horse's shoulder is disconnected from it's nose and drifts left and gets kicked. Lady with the kicking horse needs to do some serious work to get that kicking behavior under control before that horse is at a show and kicks a mounted rider not just a glancing blow to a horse shoulder.
Knowledge from experience, I was at a barn with a lady who owned a Connemara horse who was extremely disrespectful and pushy, ran the pasture and her person. Completely disrespected the rider and any human around it, eventually to the point where at a show it backed up and kicked a rider off a passing horse (passing horse was not in range of kick until the Connemara backed into it) while the lady was sitting at the arena rail on the horses back. Lady couldn't stop the horse from backing up into kick range. Moral of the story, idiots who don't have sense or control of their horse shouldn't be anywhere with one.

He thought it was a great idea to bring his 7 or 8 yr old stud. This guy worked with him but not nearing enough. Especially not enough to bring on a trail ride. My mare along with 2 other mares were in season. This guy starts drinking, not paying attention. My head is on a swivel by this time. All of a sudden, it happened so fast, I didn't have time to move my girl out of the way. Here he came. Trying to mount my horse, me climbing up her neck so I can jump off. My mare started kicking him in the chest. OMH! It was a shit show! I got off unhurt. This drunk fool is laughing! When the dust settled, I jumped that SOB and wailed on his azz! I beat the manure out of this guy. My Daddy and boyfriend pulled me off and told him to load his horse up and get the hell on! I didn't blame the horse. I blamed him. Before he left the group. We were standing around! He started beating this stud and me! I jumped his azz again! This time no one pulled me off him! We were brawling! I went home with bruises but he looked and was in worse shape than I was! He did not trail ride with me anymore! When trail rides came up he would call my daddy and ask if I was going! And no P-Pats I'm not a bad ass, just have a temper and love animals!

While the kicking horse prob should have a red tail ribbon, the rider made a choice to keep to the back of the group. BTW, Rick, you are SOOOO right! I can't stand horse Karens!!! • @theothercrypt
    @theothercrypt Před rokem +12

Oof this woman is a piece of work. I dont know her backstory, but she seems like the type of person who loved horses as a little girl, was never able to ride or have them as a teen or adult, but then got older and finally had enough money and space to get her “dream pony” and so simply went and got all the prettiest dream horses (arabian, friesian, andalusion, etc) to follow her “calling” of becoming “an equestrian”, expect refusing any and all training or help because shes “such a natural”.
    That is her vibe.
She acts like she knows everything there is to know about horses, but so clearly is novice and has absolutely no horse sense at all.
The biggest pet peeves is her always blaming everyone else for her own literally-on-film mistakes, and deleting every single “negative” comment she gets. Not one video has a single comment calling her her out on her lack of skills and knowledge, only praise and admiration comments remain. Or ones that she feels she “told them off well” in a responding comment.
She must spend every waking moment checking her youtube with how fast she jumps on her own comment sections…

I was taught to tide at the age of ten, and keeping some kind of halter restraint around the neck while urging on or rem9ving the bridle was one of the first things I learned, especially on a trail ride.

Damn!! Farouk was one lucky horse! I hate people that put rear shoes on a kicker! Horse was giving the dumb rider a clue by hunching up the back end...Agreed, Rick! Totally rider error.

This woman has a video titled "how to handle angry farmers" and it's her riding through somebodies wheat field that had no bridleway posted on it and she ignored the signs and went through anyways. When the farmers started yelling, she blamed it on not seeing the sign.

She could not have rode around the horses as it is a field with crops growing in it that is why they have to keep to the path. A red ribbon on the horses tail is to warn other riders coming behind that the horse in front kicks.
