Worried about that guy,he went through a lot with the biting previously 😟 & hoping your experience with horses might be able to shed light on his condition & how he goes from not right in one video but then seems to be doing completely fine in others? it’s very disconcerting, especially with Jami & Lester not being able to get a vet out just yet as they are fully booked for non-emergencies 😬 thanks!

    Hello Rick this is a lovely video!
    When I was six years old we moved to Great Britain from southern California. We used to frequent the new forest and watch the wild ponies. The new forest ponies are protected by the queen herself.
    We would watch them all day in the streams rolling in the water interacting not bothered by humans at all. They were so used to ‘us’ humans. For me this was paradise, but not so much for my older siblings who weren’t so horse crazy such as myself, lol.
    Also when I was first married we took our honeymoon in Basque country which is on the border between France and Spain. We stayed with my husband’s Family who owns a bed-and-breakfast a hop skip and a jump away from the beach👍🙏💖 The best part was they also had wild ponies running around on the beach they were pinto ponies to be specific. And just incredibly beautiful, fat, healthy friendly little buggers.

    Thanks Rick for the video!
    Btw wild horses that we have here are actually of breed Polish konik. They are reintroduced to local wild nature instead of tarpans which have become extinct in the beginning of previous century. This breed is chosen because they are of same type as extinct subspecies and have the most adaptations to survive local climate through the year without people having to interfere. Although some animals are being taken from the wild population and become pets too.

    You oughta look up how the zebra striping works in horse-zebra crosses. When they're paints, it doesn't show up in the white, but does in the brown areas, black stripes on brown, very weird.
    Duns DO sometimes get stripes on the legs -- they call them zebra stripes but I don't think they're the same gene. The mane frosting like the horse at 3:30 is also apparently a dun thing.

    Another great video with informative narrative by you Rick. Thank you. Its been 4 and a half years since I rode my own Mustang mare, (not great but it was necessary due to travel working and moving near my elder parents in a city to help them.) Now my mare is in an urban-stables and we are close enough to get back on track. She clearly won't have forgot and I plan to go slow since I was only even still a beginner rider. edit: oh, interesting, my horse has the dorsal stripe too, (now I know why, its dominant.)

  • @LynneDemonQueen1
    @LynneDemonQueen1 Před 2 lety +1

    Nice pointing out the dorsal stripes.. my Buddy’s mom was a red dun his sire a bay and he does have a dorsal stripe and red socks but no tiger striping and only visible in the warmer months when he’s all shed out. I call him a sorrel dun. He’s registered AQHA but that shows how dominant the primitive markings are. Duns have red base coats and the grullas in this video have black base coats both carry the “dun factor” for the primitive markings - dorsal stripe, wither bars, and tiger stripes on their legs.
