    Any of us veterans that spent any time oversea’s on deployments were given a lot of shots prior to embarking.
    Also Any vets that worked with the tools had open tanks of solvent to clean the parts. These tanks were in confined spaces with no PPE. Back east in the winter the doors were always closed and we would
    burn kerosine to keep warm in the shops.
    The pattern is aircraft,
    vehicle, armorers etc.
    All mechanics working with the solvents everyday. The tell tail sign is snoring.
    It takes years and years before all the signs show up.
    Depression, anxiety and
    PTSD are all medically connected to sleep apnea! These are the noticeable effects, many other weird health issues occur over the years.
    It is not real obvious for say 10-20 years that the effects really start to show up!
    The problems that nobody in your family has had ever.
    I had to retire early from my civilian career
    do to the health issues.
    I was also at camp Lejeune as my home base for four years minus deployments so
    I really got solvent over dose.
    All of us vets love this country and would die defending it!
    It’s the reason we joined! 🇺🇸

    I have very severe sleep apnea. The va put me on medicine for my ptsd but we never used that word due to the stigma it held at the time. I am very confident that this is due to my deployment in 2005 to Kuwait. I was subject to the oil fires and burn pits near the base. Looking back on the whole situation it now makes sense . what are my next steps. I am on a cpap.

    I am rated for asthma 30%, tintinitus 10%. I also been treated for Gerd and now OSA and will be prescribed a CPAP! My research shows an absolute comorbidity between Gerd, OSA and Asthma, furthermore I am being treated for stress and Anxiety through the VA which could be aggravated by my tintinitus!
    I doesn’t seem like the doctors want to cooperate with a nexus letter!

    I am a veteran with a 70% rating for PTSD and 30% rating for individual unemployability. The rating is permanently and totally disabled. I am being paid at the 100% rating but It only shows me to be 70%. I have sleep apnea, I'm on 2 liters of oxygen and a CPAC machine. Before getting the rating for PTSD and Unemployability I was at 40% for other injuries. How can I file a claim to get a closer rating of 100%. My question is, how can I get considered 100% with all my disabilities (1) Tinnitus 10% (2) Tendinopathy and degenerative joint disease of the right shoulder 20% (3) Post-operative residuals of a fractured right ankle 20%.

    Hello. I just found this video and i believe that my current sleep apnea which began after my second deployment to afghanistan changed my peformance during physical fitness training...i believe every morning i felt tired and exhausted and not able to breath properly; sometimes i felt like i was jumped and beat up the night before. Long story short, after consecutive times failing the run part of the pt test i was separated...mind you i was in great shape and always active...but my breathing got worse and worse and they never found out if i had an allergy or nothing. Now that i am a vet and 2 years later after a sleep test i was told i have severe sleep apnea. I served 8 years and deployed 3 times. Once to Iraq and twice to afghanistan. And yes i did live combat. No ptsd, yes anxiety but my sleeping sucks more than any other disorder.....i practically live on red bulls to get me through the day because coffee wont even cut it.
    So my ? Is do you automatically qualify for compensation for this or do you have to open a case etc?

    If you do have a CPAP machine for sleep apnea, do you need to have readings done monthly in order to show use of it or being issued the machine is good enough? I only because I've been using it for over 4 years now and I've never been told to come in to have my machine read. I just pick up my resupply of filters every 3-4 months from a referred service provider.

      @WilliamMiciu, generally speaking, in order to confirm a sleep apnea diagnosis for VA disability compensation purposes, VA requires that a sleep study be conducted. If you have been previously diagnosed with sleep apnea, but have not undergone a sleep study, VA will not consider that sole diagnosis enough evidence to verify eligibility for compensation. Hello @shawnGammons, generally a secondary-service-connected disability is a disability that resulted from a condition that is already service-connected. For more information on filing for a secondary claim, our blog may be able to help you.

    What’s the difference between getting a CPAP machine and a Dental Device?

    • @tommarinevet
      @tommarinevet Před 4 lety

      I asked my doc at the VA sleep center Monday, 9-30-2019 and the difference is one works by pushing your jaw forward and you know the CPAP but it is still a medical appliance and won't effect the rating OSA. I hope the info is correct....I'm just very suspicious of VA...but that's me!

    • @anonymanonymity8859
      @anonymanonymity8859 Před 4 lety

      On the outside, you have to get another sleep study generally to get a new machine. I was diagnosed, received machine. 5 years later, I wanted to replace my machine. I had to get another sleep study to get the new machine.

      @@teesong6801 You mean just parts? Or did you have a Phillips machine that was recalled, and they sent you a new machine? Mine is with private insurance so maybe that is the difference. They won't give a new machine unless you've had a sleep study if you are over 5 years. At least that is what they did to me.

    I had a sleep study done and submitted it to VA. I was diagnosed with OSA. I was in the military over 20 years ago sleep apnea was not diagnosed in those days. My claim claim was denied, I appealed that was denied. I submitted it as a supplemental to migraines and mitral valve prolapse and the appeal was remanded and then denied. My husband submitted a statement of concern that was included and offer to testify. I am not overweight. I am so disgusted with VA. I submitted this information to another veteran law firm and never heard back, I guess business is good.
