"Only take what you can eat so nothing goes to waste". You're exactly correct. Thank you
But I'll eat everything I catch. ha
I likes my freezer, but seriously. I might take up game warden or fish just to serve some justice to poachers. I get it though, I gut check some undersized fish and instead of throwing back to suffer .. i'll eat or use for bait. But people blatantly walking away with coolers of undersized and over limit fish and shellfish needs their dicks cut off.
That's how Japanese people are raised 😉 I'm half Japanese 😄
i have a fridge...i need left overs :_)
Truthseeker1 yepppp!! totally responsible diver and seafood harvester 👍🏼🤩
You brought saffron to a catch and cook...you earned a sub good sir
paella uses saffron
Puts all those fried fish catchncook guys to shame
Ummm how else are you supposed to make paella without the main spice ingrediant.
Yeah but thats the thing- saffron is MAD EXPENSIVE
Well deserved sub with saffron 😂
You’re living my dream 😭. Living by the seaside and sustainably 😭, eating fresh seafood you just caught 😭😭😭😭, swimming in the ocean 😭😭, fresh sea air, cooking on the beach over an open fire😭😭. Y’all are amazing!
Lolno Nicetrybro you know exactly what you need to do! Go for it.
well I mean hes a professional sushi chef, i cant imagine that to be sustainable
Needs more Emojis

Thank you take only what you need... do not waste!!! What a wonderful video thanks for sharing with us all!!! ❤️
Such an awesome episode. Can definitely see this type of content on the food network or like the travel channel.
Dudeee
For sure!! Not only cooks great food but is very wise
It’s nice to still watch and see how far you come since a year passed
I’ve never been digging for clams but I’m glad to see you measuring their size and refilling your holes (not that I knew that was a thing), but it makes me wonder how many people are out there taking clams that are too small and unaware of the “proper” method of digging. Kudos to you. Love what videos I’ve seen so far. Just subscribed and will most likely be binge watching.
That paella will surely warm anyone up on a cold night.
I don't know if you know the trick but if you put fresh water clams in salt water it'll make them push out all the sand and if you put salt water clams and mussels in fresh water it'll cause them to spit out all the sand. I love your show and I hope you keep doing it for many years to come . Hope this tip comes in handy if you didn't already know it.
I am from paella land and that`s how an a real McCoy paella is made, on the beach. Californian artichoke, great ingredient. I would have fried a garlic clove and chopped onion. We used to tug in using the mussels shells. Well done!
Hi from Fort Lauderdale 🙋♀️ Just sent this to my Mom who is from Anda Lucia, Spain (81yrs old). She said she's never seen or made a paella with turkey but, after seeing your video...she's definitely gonna make it on mother's day. So thanks 😉
We usually use chorrizo, but since we hunted that wild turkey with Fishing Chef the other day we decided to throw it in the mix. Worked out beautifully!
Funny story, back in high school in my electronics class we we're tasked to bring in a 9 volt to do this experiment. During class a kid put the battery and steel wool together in the same pocket of his backpack. So during lecture we started to notice some smoke, then before we found out where it came from the kid had a fire going in his backpack 😂 lol
There's something about when you come across a new favorite CZcams channel and now you have hours of new content to watch
The important thing about paella is the crust that forms at the bottom of the pot, that is the flavor, you have done very well.
I would have sautéed the crab a little to give it more flavor and then removed.
Before adding the rice, you have to boil the broth for a long time to soften the meat. Then the rice is added. The rest very well, very good color and very good looking. Greetings from Barcelona.
So glad you came up in my recommended videos -- this is now the fourth episode I've watched back-to-back. You have a new subscriber who is in awe of your talent and willingness to teach...and also has a reaaaaalllllyyyy hungry belly now. 😍
Oh man this was fantastic. I found your channel when it had 2 - 3 thousand subs. I love how much it has grown, I'm so happy. You should make a patreon when you get a chance! I sure your fans would love to support the channel
Thank you for your continued support!!
What a fun adventure hunting and foraging for your paella, nice footage and your seafood paella looked delicious , what a way to end mussel season!👍
Oh my goodness, you guys!
I was just searching for seafood paella recipes a few days ago and didn't really find one I liked. Then you go and upload this video! Aaaaannnnnd your paella looks SO DELICIOUS!
What makes it even better is that you foraged and caught all the seafood that went into it. I'm sorry but I might have to steal this recipe you've got here!!!
Thank you so much for the awesome upload, I think this is my favorite video you've posted thus far, BY FAR!
Here's hoping you're all doing wonderful. Take care!
Damn I was about to start working out but I saw your page on my feed and started binge watching lol. This is my favorite so far. I haven’t had paella in years and this brought back so many memories. You’re awesome bro

So much fun to come back and watch some of these older videos after seeing how far the two of you have come.
So enjoyable to watch you Taku... And of course your GF and Kevin.... This video is both so Educational AND Entertaining. Love watching you cook. And of course, we all enjoy watching you forage at the right tides to find all sorts of yummy stuff. You shoulda let Kevin keep that one Crab. It was clearly within the spirit of the law without infringing on the specifics. I appreciate the time you take to bring attention to the quarantine as some of us might not even know about it. All the comments below are just Great and I can't add anything else to their remarks. Keep up the Great work.... Thank You, Weav
Watching your videos is always a great stress relief at the end of day. Love your vids man!
aside from your wonderful cooking, i love how you provide info on foraging and tell people to tidy up after themselves to keep the environment clean and sustainable. you're a good man 👍
Just got recommended on this channel. I must say you really respect your environment. Kudos.

Keep up the amazing work, you always make your catch and cooks a notch higher than the rest. All the food you make looks phenomenal. Good job
It can´t get much better than this, nature, sea food catching, cooking and friends.
WOW !! ANOTHER SOLID GOLD VIDEO !!! ENOUGH FOR 4 PLUS EATERS !!! MUCH LOVE TO YOU AND JOCELYN!!! GREAT CHEMISTRY WITH CALI CATCH N COOK !!!
Your catch and cook videos are so fun and wholesome; I love how it’s like an adventure to find your own food, while it is still being within regulation and in-season.
In Italian we do something similar it’s chipino (chip in yo) it’s where the fisherman would tie up their boats together and “chip in” their catches from crab, muscles, clams, fish, crab, lobster, any sea food really; with a tomato base sauce and slurp with sourdough bread. This video made me soo damn hungry man. And made me thing of my heritage
Ah he made that the other day
Love it love it, great way to spend a day and the end of mussel season. Fantastic video. Thank you CHEF.
"knife is life" Yes to Paella! Coastal foraging is so cool.

Awesome dish. I live in Spain for a few years. I miss true paella. Is an amazing dish. Even better when you sourced the seafood yourselves. Loving it OCL
I enjoy your Video and I love your mind set. If everyone is mindful like you, the world will be a better place.
If you were digging the last weekend of April, I was there the same time. I did dig a few there for the first time, I did however fill in my holes. Learned that from your previous videos.
Where is this if u don't mind me asking?
wow that looks amazing!! love the cooking process
Amazing! I think it will taste better because you catch and cook seafood yourself!👍👍
Just recently discovered you. One of my new favorite channels. So good. Thanks for putting this stuff together and sharing.
Already loved your channel since I found it, but then I found out that you drove a subaru and my respect for you shot up even more. Keep up the dope vids my guy!
Definitely becoming a favorite of mine with these killer videos and amazing food I hope your able to catch a White Sea bass or yellowtail and do a catch and cook/sushi on that! Good luck out there on the water next time!
By far one of the best CZcams channels out there! I’m addicted!
Been rewatching your videos and have mad respect for for your foraging practice.
A monument in relaxing and unproblematic content :)
I fixed the problem and re-subscribed .... dude I picked some tender wild radish tops on my way home today, got 'em in the fridge and will see how they are.... you sauteed some and they came out OK in one of your videos, I've tried wild mustard tops and they're OK but you have to boil them in 2 waters, it astounded me that the radish tops could work so well so I'll have to try them.
I also gathered some of the mustard seeds, and I might be able to collect enough to make myself a nice little pot of mustard when the ones that are flowering now have progressed to having seeds. According to what I've read online, they will make a kind of mustard I've not tasted, since all I've tasted is the regular "ball park" stuff and Grey Poupon, the black seeds are supposed to make a very strong spicy mustard.
It's too bad my internet is so slow ... I'd love to upload video about stuff around here.
Just visiting this video is a treat unto itself. Thank you for some great ideas for a foraged paella. I can't wait to follow your example!
Awesome video as usual. That paella looks so good. Thanks for preaching and teaching sustainable practices.
I love you and your gf’s videos they are always so genuinely and properly prepared every time. Most ethical and enjoyable CZcams pair I watch for sure
he's such an eco friendly chef i love it.

Love these crossover videos with you and Kevin!
I grew up down along that stretch of coastline. Hopefully all see y'all around the next time I come back for a visit.
Thank you for doing this sustainably, many ppl still don't understand how their actions affect the rest of us - as we are all part of this circle of life! Subbed.
That meal looked delicious, too!
Hahahshahaha. As a Spanish guy, now I heard Taku saying socarrat my life is complete
Great food - Great message - Great content. Been watching for a bit and your channel is by far my favorite. Thank you!

That crab must have felt violated. Lmao
I can't believe that I'm just now seeing this video! I'll probably be binge watching all your videos for the rest of the week. Lol
That looks so delicious. I really enjoy the vibes of your videos! Keep up the awesome work!
I just started making paella w a wine sauce. Easily one of my favorite dishes! Glad to see someone is being sustainable my guy keep it up
Why do I always watch these videos before DInner YOU ARE killing me but I love the content. SOOOOO HANGRY.
Great depiction of the day my friend! As we saw out there that day, the visibility is usually pretty bad along jetties, and constant boat traffic makes it pretty sketchy most of the time. That being said, we sure had a good day out there huh? Congrats on the first scallop and let's get out spearfishing in better visibility on the open coast soon!
Really glad I saw this, I was looking for you to plug your channel during this video and was bummed when you didnt. Just subbed to you, dont forget to plug your content my man!
Love what the ocean provides us with 👏🏻 very nice video
That looks incredible. Definitely one of the best coastal foraging channels.
Second video of yours I stumbled upon, subscribed.
That’s the best paella I think I’ve ever seen! Love at first sight, yet we will never be together lol
i mean its a bit of a stretch to call it a paella but he did it his own way after all.
That a perfect video! Good times, good food, good friends!
Love your videos. Should definitely be on tv . Thanks for the content!
You’re gonna get big on CZcams. Mark my words. Awesome video brudda. Keep up the great content

Hi 🍉🍓
272k now
props man, you let mr. crabby finish his business
I'm learning a lot about fishing and cooking from this channel. Just awesome content.
I'm gonna go foraging in my town when i get home. Gosh, i love to do what u are doing. When i was younger and got to visit my fathers hometown and the sea was just at the back of their house, i'd go foraging the sea every afternoon and i love turning stones to find crabs. I wanna do it again!!!
I'm allergic to shellfish, yet I salivate watching your videos
Coming from someone that was really allergic to shellfish ( Will Smith in Hitch Allergic), you can get over this allergy by exposure in small amounts. I had really bad experiences with crab and shrimp. But, from small exposures to them over time, I am now able to eat both. All I'm saying is loon into it, don't miss out.
"Knife is life"
Once its crabbing season again, I need to take a trip up north to do some foraging and to catch some crabs for a huge feast. I have learned a lot from your videos! Thanks Taku!
Taku, I just stumbled upon your channel yesterday and watched way too many episodes on my Sunday! I'm a SOCAL native and have done a lot of fishing and some clamming. But, I've learned a ton watching you. I love that you're not just a fisherman and forager but that also you do some legit food prep! I'm down in San Diego so if you ever want to cruise down and do some Pismo clams then hit me up. Anyway, keep up the great content!
Hi Lance, Louie here from Long Beach area... Sorry for intruding and hopefully, you wouldn't sharing whereabouts in San Diego do you go clamming for Pismo Clams??? I am very new to harvesting ocean life... I do Fishing and would love to try getting some Clams maybe some Crabs and Lobster too... If you can inform me??? I would really appreciate it ... Thank You in advance... Louie
