Let's keep it real. Roman's title reign elevated the company out of the PG era, turned Jimmy and Jey into solo stars, produced compelling storylines at every PPV, achieved the company's highest ratings in years, rejuvenated Sami Zayn's career, and did all this while battling leukemia. A true legend!

    • @ChristopherJames1993
      @ChristopherJames1993 Před 2 měsíci +109

That reign legitimately took WWE from a "sports entertainment brand" to a PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING MEGALITH.

I hated when Cody lost at WM39, and that’s exactly what the company wanted. Twist the knife a little more, make him suffer a bit longer, he’s a Rhodes after all. It took him from over babyface to damn megastardom.
Then just when it looks like he’s got it, stack the deck again, make it look like you’re screwing him even more. Have everyone practically begging for him to win. THEN he gets it.

Roman Reigns being Tribal Chief, Paul Heyman being the Wiseman, The Rock coming back as the Final Boss and Cody trying to finish his family's and own story.
Both main events, through sheer in-ring storytelling like WWF/Es best times, filled in all the blanks.
I grew up on Taker (who hasnt for the past 34 years?) and his appearance was definitely like "you may be the Final Boss for Cody to beat but This. Is. My. Yard"

I have watched Cody's transformation over the years, and seeing how he's ascendeed has been a satisfying experience.
Michael Cole mentioned during Wrestlemania 40 that Cody had star potential -- which he absolutely did (and does), but he's elevated to superstar level. I'd argue that he's even brighter than that -- he's a supernova now.
He isn't "a" star. He is THE star.
And he deserves to be at the top of the mountain. His grit, talent and charisma, as well as dedication, have shown that he has the ability to carry the entire company on his back. Not to mention, he's a genuinely kind human. Winning the championship and finishing the story couldn't have happened to a better person.
I hope Cody gets to hold on to that belt for years. He damn sure deserves it. I'm so proud of him for all he's overcome. The American Nightmare has my undying respect!

Wrestlemania 20th was my first one, what an emotional ending it has with chris and eddie celebrating together.
Wrestlemania 30th gave one of the happiest ending ever
    This one, it was wholesome.
    John cena taking on Solo
That epic stare down with the rock
Undertaker telling the rock you may be the boss, but this is my yard
And the most beautiful peice of Storytelling, seth being the sheild wearing the sheild gear and getting the most epic payback in the history of wrestling, that chair shot was wrestling at its peak.
And the finish with the dream of the dream family finally came true.
    😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
    Thank you roman
    Thank you triple h

It’s amazing they referenced AEW and showed pictures of the bucks and Omega, it’s a huge huge part of Cody’s career, he helped make wrestling relevant and cool again and WWE seriously needed good competition to kick them up the arse and become a better company. I’d love for the two companies to do business together, knock down the “forbidden door” and give us some incredible matches with some incredible talent. Imagine the storyline AEW VS WWE could be the alliance angle done properly this time.. ugh a man can dream for an Omega match at wrestlemania, coming down the ring with the AEW title.. IF ONLY

I was at the office watching Day 2 of Wrestlemania yesterday and the main event between Cody and Roman is, in my book, the best Wrestlemania main event of all time. I am now 26 years old and I started watching WWE during the early years of the PG era (around 2008 or 2009). I am so glad that we are now in the new era of WWE, it feels good and many WWE stars will have their chance to shine in the spotlight with compelling storylines and they now have freedom in their promos. We should give credit to Roman, because he carried WWE during the pandemic era and now with Cody as champion, I can't wait to see what potential feuds and storylines he is going to be involved with in the next few years.

What makes this story so good is that is so relatable and so real. Pro Wrestling can be pretty corny some times, but when it's the perfect mix of reality and storyline you get something magical.
I don't care about nostalgia or whatever, The Rhodes story to me is the best story in pro wrestling history.

Still crying 5 days after Mania. This is what people who don't watch wrestling don't get, why it's such a unique form of storytelling. It's told in real time. One day for you is one day for the wrestlers, the weight of years, decades sometimes, weigh on every storyline and makes us all invested. Cody's story feels real because IT IS REAL. We were there watching year after year. We lived the story with him.

This may sound strange to some people, but I compare Cody Rhodes' story to another all-time sports great. Dusty Baker. In 20 years of managing baseball, from the 2002 Giants to the 2021 Astros, Dusty Baker fell short time and time again of that one piece of his story that was missing. Finally, in 2022, he got his title. A title every person who knew him wanted Dusty to get. After game 6 of that World Series, David Otiz hugged Dusty Baker and said "That's the final capture to the movie."
Indeed, the story found its climax.

WWE isn’t about winning fights like actual combat sports, it’s about winning hearts it seems, and that’s what drew me back to it. These guys pour everything into this
