    The TBS Windsor leather is a lovely Bible. You will not need any other (unless you want a reference Bible). It has a lovely clear font, quality cream paper and beautifully laid out which makes it very easy on the eye. The leather I hear is calf split. By buying it you are supporting the distribution of scripture to those who need it too. What is not to like! You can get the soft vinyl cover version with the same Jongbloed paper and print quality for like 10 bucks.God bless.

    Excellent review on these three Bibles. The KJV Windsor is my daily reader. I will divert sometimes to other translations for a short season, for a change of pace, but I end up back with the KJV and this wonderful Bible. Been using it for several years now and absolutely love it. Not everyone will agree with me on this, but I believe it is, $ for $, the best value Bible out there for the KJV. That Holman looks really nice. I've held those soft Holman cowhide Bibles (various translations) in LifeWay stores several times, but the one you showed is the first I've seen that didn't have the text running into the gutter. The leather binding is incredible, but the text block... font, red letter, etc. didn't seem to match the quality of the cover. It's like a Cadillac with a Pinto interior (showing my age). And what matters most is the actual reading experience inside the Bible. Which brings me back around to the Windsor. I love the cleanness of the layout and that font is very well executed. My first TBS Windsor, bought about 7 years ago, was nice, but the more recent ones are much better... the paper especially. But excellence at an incredible price is what you can expect from TBS. As Mark Bertrand said in his review several years ago, "If you've ever ordered from the Trinitarian Bible Society, you'll know what I'm talking about. There's a feeling you get, a blend of guilt and excitement, like you've just gotten away with something very fun but very bad. It's the price that does it. Or to be more precise, the ratio of price to value. You're used to paying more and getting less." Indeed.

    Great review!!! I will say the prices are much higher 3 years later then what you say. The Holman is inflated through the roof to almost $1000.00 on amazon so it must be out of print. The Windsor is advertised as 48.00 without shipping cost, and the emerald new starts at 60.00 with half price if you purchase used on amazon.

    Recently ordered a TBS Windsor; on its way and should be in my hands next week. IIRC, this video is the one that brought this particular KJV Bible to my attention. As somebody who recently got into reading the Bible -- through some newer translations -- I was reluctant to try the KJV (Ye Olde English being my worry/concern). At least, until more recently.
    Muchas Gracias!!

    For me, an essential in an A.V. Bible is the presence of the Apocrypha, which is part of the A.V. Bible. Having the ORIGINAL alternative readings and references (which the 1611 translators provided from among themselves) is another "must".

    • @gbantock
      @gbantock Před 6 lety +1

      The Cambridge A.V. Bibles preserve the translators' own marginal matter (alternative readings, references, etc.).

    • @gbantock
      @gbantock Před 6 lety

      Holman A.V. Bibles over the years have tended to reduce the number of marginal readings, other notes, and references that the A.V. Bible translators provided. They are lovely editions, however.

    I absolutely love the Holman. I have Allen and Cambridge and LCBP and BPS and most of the TBS bibles and the Holman is the one I keep reaching for when I preach and teach. The font is strange to me only because I would much rather have a font that looks like the Cambridge here. With me it's not about collecting as some have assumed when they see how many bibles I own but it's about searching for the ONE. I believe I have found the one in the TBS Windsor but the leather...someday I will have to have someone rebind it for me. I love the Windsor so much I also got the Zippered version to have with me wherever I go. Anyhow, nice glance at these here bibles. The Holman is tough to find nowadays. I had considered getting a second one since that is the one I keep grabbing whenever I teach. My next bible will be the RL Allan Longprimer Thinline edition. I didn't want to jump on the first batch as this was their first run. In fact the thinlines that are offered now from Bibles Direct has a little note there saying that the remaining stock is discounted due to marks on art gilding and art gilt bleed. The discount isn't that much. I would rather get something of quality the first time when I am spending so much.

We are Christian not Catholic we believe in the God head not the wicked demonic Trinity of the Catholic church so please study the scriptures .by going to a Trinitarian organisation you are supporting a system that teaches a false gospel and adds to the written word of God I hope that you adhere to wise counsel on this matter and when I say wise counsel I mean the wisdom of God not wisdom of man , may the guide you my brother in Christ Jesus.

      It is Jongbloed, or more accurately, Royal Jongbloed. They are independent printers and publishers for the Dutch Reformed Church in the Netherlands and also for the (Protestant) Dutch monarchy. Since 1862. Since the devolving of R.L. Allen publishers in Edinburgh they also now publish premium Bibles for the Church of Scotland and Church of Ireland. They do good work. Schuyler Bibles utilises them a lot.

    I’m sorry to say I don’t agree with you that the King James version Bible being the only version that can communicate gods word effectively to you. We don’t speak that way any more so I cannot see how it would be more clear to common man in English if KJB is spoken. There is no group to reference to an English version being better either. I believe it is purely passed down opinion. it is widespread, unhelpful and it is strange, almost mystical. I am aware of omissions and additions in other versions which make them slightly different to King James ( some are erroneous!) but that does not alter the fact that King James could have slight translational issues as well. Just because the King James version was first doesn’t mean it is the best.
    How could King James Bible be more accurate in English than the youngs literal translation? Youngs contains no abridgation.
    For me NRSV is good. My favourite, But I read many versions inc KJB. Another problem with King James Bible adherence is what about all the other many languages in the world? How are they meant to get a good accurate representation of the word of God?
    It is a silly, preposterous proposal! God ‘favouring English speaking KJB readers ‘ God is a respecter of NO persons. Truly fair.
    The Bible was written by the spirit of God to be read by the most uneducated people on earth all the way up to the most intelligent. It speaks to all. The King James language can be a hindrance to less educated people and may foster pride in others.
    The Bible says that if you do not have the holy spirit living inside you, you are not saved (ROM 8) AND that you will not understand what is written. That’s what’s important and relevant.
    All the heathen and pagans on CZcams who do not have the spirit are still arguing about hell etc and gods word! no wonder they think it’s crazy.
