People are constantly looking for more information more of this more of that. Like one pastor said, there are no new revelations from God. Everything he wants us to know is in his word. This scholar found this information. Somebody found that information. Who gives these people to write to keep revising? The Bible to keep saying we found this information. We have more information. That's ridiculous God's word is the truth. There is no more added to God's word. God's word. It's final and it is true, David said. More doesn't mean better. More could be good and more could be false. That's just like all these revised versions of the Bible. Who gives anybody the right to change God's word even to help somebody understand it better. The Christians don't want more. They want truth, true Christians of God. Want truth, they don't want more information. And if anybody is willing to accept any information given to him, they are willing to Bind on something bend a little here, bend a little there. Take a little off here. Add a little here. Then guys words totally change all the way around, which is what some are trying to do. WHY does it matter that it doesn't focus on the crucifixion? Jesus didn't focus on that and nor did Yahweh in Hebrew Bible. Yahweh focused on them being obedient and so did Messiah. I dunno, what if the humans focused on life and not death

I read this this morning and found it rather refreshing. This lecture makes it seem like it's mostly doom and gloom and it's really not. The Didache makes things sweet and simple. If you want to know what sin looks like and how one thing leads to another, it's here. It is clear why the folks at the Council of Nicea kicked this one out: it clearly explains that a false prophet is one who asks for money, that a man having sex with a boy is sin, that abortion and infanticide is sin, that we are to consider true teachers and prophets to be from the Lord and to these we are to give the first 10%-- if no prophet or true teacher has settled nearby, give to the poor. It points out character traits that lead to life and character traits that lead to death. It explains how we should help an unskilled foreigner. I personally enjoyed it and would take this over Paul's convoluted letters any day of the week.

How about the New Jerusalem bible I am raised Protestant but have recently purchased the New Jerusalem bible I understand that it's Catholic Bible but so far I have enjoyed reading the extra books specially one and two Maccabees

Love the video but on the issue of slavery. I was born in Southern Missouri and my ancestors were Scots/Irish Presbyterians who fought for the American South during the war of Northern Aggression. You stated that the treatment of slaves was different in the Bible from colonial America. I would disagree and say that most slaves holders in the American South for example were treated in some ways the same as slaves of the Bible area. Most laws on slavery were rooted in the Bible. 1.Slaves had to receive medical care. 2. Slaves were allowed to marry and even have children. May also add that it is a myth that the children of slaves were ripped from the home. 3. Slaves were prohibited in the American South from working on the Lords day. In fact General Thomas Jonathan Jackson AKA Stonewall Jackson would lock the doors of the 1st Presbyterian church of Lexington in Lexington, Virginia to teach his slave how to read the Bible. Teaching a slave to read at that time came with a prison sentence. And I would even argue that in a lot of ways men like Stonewall Jackson were the first civil rights activist. May I suggest a few books on the topic check out time on the cross by Robert William Fogel and Stanley L Engerman and also check out Roll Jordan Roll by Eugened Genovese

The worship and adoration of the "celebrities" of our age is no different from the worship and adoration of the Baalim and the other "gods" and idols worshipped in the times of the Old Testament.

KJV has some significant errors. Don't get me wrong, I use it every day but you still have to test the spirits. The problem is the translations follow suit and carry over the errors. Dan. 9:26 the Hebrew says "and shall have nothing" not KJV "and not for himself". Howbeit noble but it doesn't say this, it says HE came for "thy people" and got nothing of the nation nor fulfillment of Dan. 9:24. More errors that change doctrines is the KJV added the definite article to "a people" and "a prince". The definite article "the prince" makes a prince the antecedent to "HE" in Dan. 9:27 The original text Messiah is the antecedent to the pro-form HE in Dan. 9:27. 95% of Christians are calling Messiah the antichrist who make a covenant with Israel the breaks it in the middle of the tribulation stopping the reestablished sacrifices. Dan. 9:27 read correctly. "And HE (Messiah) shall confirm the covenant (Isa. 55:1-7) with the many (Gentile believers) for one week (Pasion week) and in the midst of the week (Wednesday \Thursday. Passover ✝️) HE (Messiah shall cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease(it is finished) and for overspreading of abominations (40 years of continuing. Crimson thread sacrifices) HE (CHRIST) shall make it (thy Holy City) desolate (void of thy people) even until the consummation (70th week) and that determined (Lk. 21:24 Time of the Gentiles be fulfilled) shall be poured upon the desolate (Gospel poured upon the children of the desolate; Isa. 54:1)".

AMEN! People always act like I'm weird because we don't have any sort of TV service at our house lol. I can't think of the guys name right now, but I remember hearing this gentlemen one time talking about how the druids and other pagan cultures in Europe would use the wood of the holly tree to make their staffs and wands for pagan rituals in casting spells. So in other words they would use holly wood (Hollywood) to cast spells... Gives you something to think about.

If only this passage had been preached in all churches in 2020. Covid was THE biggest opportunity in our generation to openly stand for Christ. Instead, we closed our churches, wore useless rags on our faces (Chicago has never stopped), and cowarded in our homes. I will never stop being ashamed for that. If ever there was a time when I wish I could turn back time and do things differently, that's it.

I mean, if we all have to die anyway, what better death could there be than to be martyred for Christ? I'm not saying it would be easy, especially if they do it through extended torture. I'm the biggest coward on earth. If I was being tested like that my biggest fear would not be any physical pain. It would be that I would fail and deny Him. (I don't even know what happens to people like that.) But having Christ look in your eyes and say, "Well done, good and faithful servant", would mean EVERYTHING! It would be worth every second of agony.

So your putting the general resurrection ( John 5: 28-29) at Christ second coming? Who , and how are the saints in the first resurrection? Because the first resurrection CANNOT have unbelievers like the second ( or general resurrection)

There's no point debating the greatest. We don't know who is the greatest. Guys we have better things to do than rank one person against another like it is a competition. Really sad to see you do this.

Part company with you re: ESV. I would place it first (in this video's treatment) with no reservation. Reformation second and Aquila not in sight. I have a notebook, and a wide magin ESV that are helpful, I dont understand how a wide margin Aquila is ranked. Is there a personal reason you esteem it so highly? I think it might be best to think about study bibles in differing categories, such as general / comprehensive (ESV, Reformation), early Chruch / Church history (Ancient faith, etc), cultural / archeological (cultural backgrounds, archeological, etc), theological point of view (MacArthur, etc), translational (net full notes) because in reality no study bible can do everything and still be in a single volume, yet to really immerse into the Bible, we may need both the basics and key inputs in various domains. Maybe I'm saying there isn't a best study bible but there may be preferred ones amoung various categories.

There are times you did not really compare similar study bibles head to head? eg I think you would have been better served to put the NET up against something different?

From my study, the TR is not the newest of transcripts and the critical text is the oldest. The TR was put together with manuscripts with bibles dating back to 100 to 150 AD as the New Testament goes. If you compare those old bibles such as the Peshitta (AD150), Old Latin Vulgate (AD157), and the Italic Bible (AD157) also others. These bibles line up with bibles such as the Geneva bible, King James Bible and the New King James Bible. Verses were never added or taken away, it's always been God's word preserved as he promised. I was never a KJV onlyiest, but it is what it is. As for English goes, the true word of God is based for us, the English people in the TR otherwise known as the Textus Receptus. I believe it is why the world hates it so much and people are bending backwards to disprove it. Also let me say, I am not a KJV onylist as it may seem. I often use the NLT when speaking with new Christians or witnessing to unbelievers. What I am saying is After reading and studying for years with the ESV, NASB95, NIV, NLT. After praying that the Holy Spirit would help me to see, I just feel that in my in-depth study the TR is where I feel I am reading the word of God. Besides, only God knows the countless millions of souls that have been saved from the KJV. God Bless.

In San Antonio PCA churches seem to be more organized and youthful than the other Presbyterian affiliations.

The KJV is a good translation in 1611 English. With some words being bastardly translated. The Textus Recptus is not the gold standard of Greek texts, it is not up to date. The NRSV-UE is the best for word for word translation.
