Kevin IS NOT AN INNOCENT BYSTANDER. He was there watching and participating in what happened to the kids. When Chase was, for months, forced to sleep on a bean bag his loving father approved. When the doors were removed from his bedroom, Where was daddy? When the kids we’re saying they had no friends because of the show, he was there. When the little girl forgot her lunch, why didn’t daddy dearest take food to her? That wilderness camp was horrifying and Kevin was absolutely part of that nightmare.
He didn’t see his kids for a year and he didn’t fight like hell to change that?!?

*This got very long, so I apologize for that and I'll put a large"🔴🔴"where it pretty much ends before the rant.* *Thanks for reading if you actually read the entire thing since I do believe it's important to demonstrate how common this type of issue is!*
You know what's sad, though? A lot of families raised their kids like this (and still do in very tight nit communities across the states). My husband is a great example of what happens to kids when they grow up in cult-like religions and families, where its not so bad it ends in abuse charges, but damn near bridges that line. His family are Evangelical Pentecostals who all moved from Russia in the 90's (also lived in Idaho until he was 15/16, where I guess religious fanatics breed like bunnies) and listening to him talk about some of the things his family did or brainwashed him into think are horrific. One of his worst memories thats not too bad for comments was standing in the middle of the men's group (all relatives) as a kid and being forced into receiving the holy spirit/the holy tongue so it would end and they would encircle each young boy and chant at them, refusing to let them leave until they found their "tongue" (which was a word or phrase that the holy spirit gives to you in intense prayer...literally just russian jibberish). He was so freaked out as a 10 year old that he cried, but assuming it was the power of the lord causing him to cry, they just kept it going until he "got a word". His parents isolated their kids and he never grew up experiencing friends birthday parties or sleepovers, no friends who weren't relatives or russian pentecostal, no Halloween or any non-religious holidays, and just secluded from the outside world up until he was around 16 or 17 (want to mention that I do not hate his parents or family: his parents thought they were doing right since their brothers and sisters >each of his dads 7 brothers married each of his mothers 7 sisters while her other sister actually married someone else< manipulated them into believing this was what good Christian parents do. However, they did ease up a bit after his aunt, who married a russian man unrelated to his dad that didn't follow this hardcore belief system, kind of woke them up a bit from the manipulation of their family/church and relaxed them enough to let their kids begin exploring the outside world. Love that side of his family to bits). It wasn't until he met me, an America, that he slowly began to come out of his shell. He still had his despicable ingrained beliefs at the time (like saying if his kid was gay, he'd abandon them or that my lesbian sister was evil. He'd even been manipulated into believing that 3rd world countries experience suffering because "they abandoned God, so God abandoned them"), but, I understood the situation, I still loved him, and I knew under all of the craziness was someone who was very patient, kind, honest, loving, and worth standing by and fighting for. After he finally moved away from his family, he started to slowly realize just how fucked his situation growing up was and how manipulative and backwards his family is. His uncles, aunts, and a few cousins in Idaho (who are the f@$king worst of them) actually ended up facing MASSIVE prison sentences for stealing hundreds of thousands in chruch money before attempting to flea to another country and tried to blame the arrest for america being godless and them being targeted like back in russia (which is f@$king ridiculous). Luckily, his parents aren't nearly as nuts as they once were and after his family in idaho was arrested, him, his siblings, and his parents started to abandon such restrictive and harmful practices (they are still very much hardcore Christian pentecostals, but they are much kinder and open than they once were. I still harbor no ill will to his parents or siblings and never have as this was how they were all raised, passing it down from one generation to the next). He really struggled for years and years and suffered with extreme anxiety and depression, especially when we got married as he really struggled with his self-identity, struggled with his families opinion of him and I, and struggled finding his own way that was seperate from the identity his family had spent years forcing on him, but he eventually found his own way in life and is fully atheist (which, despite what his parents believe, I actually didn't influence that decision. I never cared he was Christian). While he still loves his parents and siblings, he's set boundaries and now stands up to his family when they try to manipulate him into feeling bad that he didn't marry a Russian pentecostal woman or doesn't go to church anymore. Now that he no longer believes that stuff, he is adamant about raising our daughter without religion, giving her every single experience he never got to have (this year we took her trick or treating dressed as a cute tiny Miss Frizzle lol), and would love her whether she became Christian, lesbian, straight, Buddhist, or atheist. 🔴🔴🔴 It's really scary just how common this still is and even my own mother attempted to have me sent to catholic school because I wasn't godly enough. It's up to us, as adults and especially as parents, to recognize when we're being manipulated, or when someone is trying to destroy your family, or when someone is trying to hurt your children. It's OK to be Christian. That is not the message of this comment. However, being Christian (or anything) doesn't mean you have to be perfect or project and/or force perfection onto your children. My dad is Christian and even when he preaches to me about God, I understand it's coming from a place of love, not a place of hate or control. I think too many strive to be perfect, Christian or not, and we force this faked perfection that's meant to gain the approval of others around us to such a degree that it affects our children and its just not fair. These are children, not model figurines or dolls that you can flaunt for others approval and attention. This has become especially dangerous as people become more and more obsessed about the approval of strangers online or as a way to seem better than our friends and family that we stalk online to see how we can outdo them or gain more attention or acceptance than them. People have to remember than no one is living a perfect life, no atheist, no Christian, no Buddhist, no Islamic, no one. We have to remember that we can't become consumed with whatever we're doing to a degree that it affects those we love or even those we've never met before. Ruby frank and Jody are going to be thinking a very long, long time about everything they've done in those secluded, quiet cells and eventually, maybe not today, maybe not in 5 years, but eventually realize just how many people they have hurt and caused to suffer and when that day comes, the loneliness and guilt will eat them alive until there's nothing left except an empty shell of a human being that will rot as they go day after day after day trapped in a loop until they die alone while those they hurt are finally allowed to move on with their lives with more freedom and happiness than ever before (and ruby's husband should be in this same situation and him suing his daughter for gathering materials from the house >that he hasn't been in for 13 months< that she needed for the kids is extremely revealing about his true character and I can only hope and pray that those children are never placed with that man again and stay with their sister who clearly loves them and I hope he ends up rotting away in prison too).

    • @brandonwilliams4050
      @brandonwilliams4050 Před 6 měsíci +35

What it would have come to is two dead children who were literally tortured to death. I'm sorry for the grim visual, but that really is where this was heading.
Both of them were starved and dehydrated to dangerous levels (though I suspect for a number of reasons that the boy was the more physically damaged of the two). They were beyond the point where merely stopping their torment and nursing them back to health at home was an option. They needed actual medical attention and I highly doubt these monsters were going to provide it.
And they had no intention of stopping anyway. Jodi's combination of sadism and genuine delusions that she has some direct link to God and mandate to torture the sin out of others would never allow it. Her insanity would invent an endless supply of "sins" to punish.
And Ruby...she hated those two and breaking them mentally and physically seemed to be the limit of her interests when it came to parenting them. She wasn't going to stop Jodi from doing anything and I do wonder if it was the opposite (her pushing to prolong/intensify things while Jodi may have wanted a more "measured" approach).
I don't think their goal was to kill them....but it would have happened and their intentions would mean nothing. Two innocent kids would have died a drawn out, tormented death and they would be responsible.
Anyway, glad it didn't happen like that.

They'll be going back to Kevin I'm sorry but that's the way it is unless they can prove he had involvement in the severe abuse of Eve and Russell. Ruby will be convicted. She'll do her usually and claim she is innocent and get at least 5 years. She may also be barred from seeing the children they are 18.
Kevin has money, a good lawyer and I don't see any other family member going against Kevin for custody. The state might go against him. But they will lose.
He has not broken the law by not having contact with his kids for a year. Who ever said that is ignorant. He left them with their mother.
Unless he knew she was abusing them in a criminal way then he is not going to be charged.
The making Chad sleep on beanbag chair is not seen as abuse under the law. Nor is making them miss a meal. Nor is spanking or even videoing your children for cash. Untill it is then there is no case against Kevin.
He probably has the children now. If not he will soon.
I don't think he's an ideal dad. But he's certainly not the worst.

If you abandon them on a street corner then that is a felony in some places
Saying I can't look after my kids and leaving them with their mother or father or other legal guardian or with the state is not a felony. Nor should it be.
Abandonment is a civil law so that if a dad walks out the mother can claim Abandonment. Or the state can claim Abandonment if the parents don't try to get their kids back.

Kevin should be in jail right along side his monster of a wife. In my opinion, he is just as guilty of child neglect as anyone being that he hadn't even SEEN his children in over a year! If that's not considered being a neglectful parent, I don't know what is! So him using that as his excuse as to why he's not responsible, to me, shows just how delusional he is. I can only hope and pray that he doesn't end up with custody, ever.

For one, he was more than fine not knowing what's going on with his kids for a year. Calls the police on his own daughter, doesn't even try to reach other to her when he left Ruby, like he could have cared less about his eldest daughter. He was also there when they did other things to the kids, denied them lunch, etc. He's just as guilty as Ruby. And CPS clearly don't trust him either because they didn't readily give him the kids which tells me everything

Kevin likely already has custody or will have soon. Likely under conditions such as the children go to therapy and he has CPS checks.
He isn't going to jail. He's not guilty of a crime. If he knew they were being tied up and starved then yeh he is guilty . But he didn't. Imo.
He is guilty of being a shitty, idiotic foolish man. Which isn't a crime.
Also his abandonment wasn't because he wanted it. He was coerced into it. Which will be in his favour in court.
It's terrible what has happened to the children. And I blame Kevin too. But I don't believe he is an evil man.

On Chad’s bedroom situation: Ruby definitely knew Jody at that point. She had been Chad’s therapist for at LEAST a few years by that point, and I’m honestly of the belief that Jody “inspired” the ”punishment”. Jody is also the mental health professional that Kevin mentions when they defended their parenting “style” and said, “trust me, we are constantly consulting mental health professionals and have for years.” (i think that was after a “scandal” that had to do with Ruby’s neglect or abuse towards Eve).
You can see in old 8 passengers content that Chad (bc Jody was his therapist and WAS his uncles therapist- Beau left a negative review of her though) and the family constantly threw around the connexions buzzwords: distortion, living in truth, using truth as a noun, etc.

I've seen it said that Jodi was Chad's therapist around the time he was packed off to wilderness camp/sleeping on the floor. Idk if that is true, but Shari said she was 15 when her parents got involved with Connexions, Chad is 2 years younger than her, which means they had been around since he was 13. So Jodi was absolutely on the scene then...if not the one responsible for him being sent away in the first place, losing "bed/bedroom privileges", and then having his bathroom door removed etc.
As for Kevin trying to get Shari arrested, mitchell is also worth noting that at the time she had custody of her 2 sisters (the teenagers); I would assume she still does. In fact, the reason she had been allowed in the house was to collect her siblings' belongings. So, it is entirely possible that his trying to get her arrested was a tactic to try and get custody away from her. Possibly even trying to punish her for speaking out against her parents by ruining not just her chances of taking care of her sisters but also putting her college place in jeopardy (hmm just like Jodi did to Adam), since thebhonor code office could easily get her sanctioned or thrown out for being arrested. Though tbf her getting out of BYU could only be good for her, because I worry that she is still pretty deep in the mormon cult mindset...just not as deep as the Connexions bs. I do feel bad for her, because while she was getting all that shit from Jodi & Connexions, online she was constantly being shit in for being like her mother.
Videos have been surfacing from years ago, that it seems some concerned people managed to save before the channel was nuked (or perhaps they have found them other ways, idk) of all these different things she did to the kids, even while they were still at the height of vlogging. Like, how one christmas she admitted they don't usually give their kids gifts but that one year felt called to...she gave them all knives of various kinds & sizes...even the littlest 2! What interests me about that is if they didn't normally give the kids gifts, that means the year they held back R & E's Christmas gifts was even more cruel & manipulating because they bought the other kids gifts when they don't usually. There are vids of the kids where they look so pale and malnourished even then, especially E, who Ruby has always treated horribly.
And what pisses me off is her sisters are acting like they are saints in all this, nwhen they employ some of the same tactics (like using food as punishment).
I hope the dismissal of the traffic offence against Ruby is a good indication that they think she is gonna be locked up for a long time. Both of them deserve the maximum sentence for what they did to those kids, that a grown man would be moved to tears while trying to explain to the police on the phone... that says so much about what R's condition must have been. I just hope those children are in good foster placements where they are getting the care and love they need & deserve, and that they are all getting non-faith based therapy. kevin should be locked up too, if the only thing they can get him on is abandonment of his kids, then so be it, but there is no way he should walk scott free.
I've heard so many conflicting things about the safe/safe room, some indicate that I did exist & that was where Eve was locked up, but then others say it was miss stated. Either way, I agree that Pam didn't seem to care or be surprised until the cop mentioned that...but the difference between when she thought it was her daughter that was in trouble, vs when it was cleared up that it was Ruby is also telling.
I'm not giving Jodi any excuses, but she sounds so delulu, I can't help but wonder about some kind of schizophrenic/psychotic hallucinations. Either way, she is evil and her victims all deserve justice.

But, I completely understand why you are the way you describe. It's ridiculous to make children feel evil for not acting the way you want them to, despite not plainly telling them anything. Really they just want kids to obey them without question, so they feel no need to explain why.

I grew up protestant and going to church was like walking through a minefield. The oldest members of the church would pick people they saw as 'sinful' and be so cruel to them. They would say such hateful things about them and i could only stand there because 'children only speak when spoken too.' Got out of that situation as soon as i could and found faith for myself like i think all people should do. You’ve done a great job covering the Ruby Franke / Jodi Hildebrandt child abuse situation. Btw, more of the Pam Botcher body cam footage was uploaded a few days ago. It’s mostly from the officer who spoke with her husband and the two girls. It’s interesting. Again, no concern for the children, only worried what the neighbors will think about the fact they have a bunch of police at their house. Totally self centered.

Both Pam and her husband had something to hide. The first question the police officer asked her was "Did someone ask you to pick the kids up?" She did not answer that Ruby asked her. She didn't bring up Ruby until she was in the car. The husband stood in front of A in the door way. When he let A sit down, she closed the door, possible hoping they wouldn't find out about J. No mention of J until Pam happened to bring her up while being questioned in the car. Then they have J come out. A refused to talk to police, but J did.
Also, during the 911 call, R said he was there with 2 of his sisters. One was E, the other was most likely A. A was terrified of police. I think A was in the house with Jodi with R and E and was fully aware of their conditions. View the entire bodycam footage of Pam and her husband and see if you agree.

They really should have been more concerned over the withholding of food and forcing the kids to pay for things or they would destroy them, and taking the beds and bedrooms away. I had two boys just dumped on me years ago, I stopped partying and worked all the time to provide for them, it's not that hard. It was the best thing that ever happened to me, I love those boys. Kevin looks like he's in full cult form here. It's surely all Shari's fault because she helped the cops put the leader (Ruby and/or Jodie) in jail. And when you have a cult, be it a family, a church, whatever....the leader is considered the end all, be all of it and how dare you speak to the police and help them detain the leader/s. Shari broke the cult silence (as she should have) and here Kevin (watch his eyes) is freaking tf out because of it. The ladies will get the crash course of "off your high horse" in jail. Kevin's lawyer should get off the TV and get him some cult therapy with a quickness before they figure out he, an adult with free will, just sat there and let all this happen and they drop his butt in a cell too.

What were the police doing if the neighbors in ivans called them repeatedly to note that young children are left alone in a house for weeks. multiple times. I’m sorry but that is an emergency. The first time it happens. The police ignored it or dismissed it multiple times in multiple counties. No wonder why the neighbors were waiting for the children to be removed in body bags.

    • @nikkibee139
      @nikkibee139 Před 6 měsíci +2

It's sadly not illegal in Utah to leave your children alone in the home for any amount of time. There are actually ZERO laws as to the minimum age you can leave a kid home alone as well (this is the case for 36 other states too). The only time it becomes a crime is if the child is harmed through negligence because they are too young to feed themselves. But if the kids can access food and water on their own, no matter their age, it's not a crime in Utah or the majority of American states. The police couldn't do anything because there were no laws being broken in the state. All they could do was a welfare check and if the door wasn't being opened for them, they have zero right to go inside as there was no suspicion of crime.
I'm not the biggest fan of current policing (especially when it comes to them not preventing crime, but reacting to it) but this isn't an issue with police. This is an issue with the state's legislature having it on their books that leaving a child at home alone for weeks doesn't constitute negligence unless something goes wrong.

Jody hates families & couples, she's jealous & resentful. I think meeting Ruby & Kevin was intentional because of the attention it would bring her because of 8 Pass. The way Ruby was with her children got the attention of Jody & she knew these people could be manipulated & she met her ilk in Ruby. She got rid of the husband so she could manipulate Ruby more freely. Idk what Kevin's issue is, could he really be that naive or was he enjoying his freedom. How can someone not check on their kids for over a year? Jody's husband divorced her & got custody of the kids. Her kids don't want anything to do with her, could be why she's jealous & resentful. During her hearing I could tell she was sh*tting her pants, she knows she has no excuse or reason for what she has done. I heard she ended up in hospital a couple times since her arrest, is she going for the sympathy card? I can't wait to see what Karma has in store for these people.

The first time I was able to stand up to my parent after they attempted to attack me was the scariest situation of my life. Luckily I had one family member that helped me. This is 100% why homeschooling needs very strict rules and supervision from random checks. Here in Texas you see a lot of abusive families take their kids out of school and claim they are educating their kids but really just keep them ignorant to make it impossible for their kids to leave them. I have personally met people who couldnt read or do basic math because they were home schooled. This is a serious danger for the children of our country. And what are these kids going to do when they grow up? No skills but housekeeping, no knowledge of daily essentials like budgeting or arranging bills, nothing.

We really need to more properly fund and support Social Services. There are so many stories of absolutely ignoring multiple family members and friends reporting NOT to let people keep access to children in their home. It even happened in my family, and the kid is STILL with the person I told them was so manipulative I would RATHER they end up in foster care than with this family member. It's been YEARS. And I heard so many people's similar stories when I tried to get help in the situation. I know CPS intends well, but they do a lot of harm and leave the people who care with zero way forward to protect children.
