- Thanks Freedom ASMR for hosting this to get the word out more! Share please, we need to get CZ to fix this!
As demonstrated, the Scorpion can easily be fired on demand out of battery. Been working with CZ for almost a year now on this issue. They decided to play hard ball. I have spoken with Randal Stroud (Randal@cz-usa.com), his boss Aaron Hale (Aaron@cz-usa.com) and also left their attorney a message (don't recall their name because they never called me back). You can also see a demonstration here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1I5k...
Why are they ignoring this issue? We had a gun blow up during normal firing, and then we started investigating and this seems to be a defect. Any class action attorneys out there wanting a easy case? - Sport

Are/is there any company(s) out there that make parts for the block to prevent this from happening? Pretty bummed because I was thinking about dropping Franklin Armory's binary EVO. I guess I can forget about that until this gets resolved.
@@FullMetalRuckus Nothing that we know of.
@@FullMetalRuckus If you respond I will tell you of a company that is about to releae a bolt. They are doing pre orders now but im not saying till i get minezzzzz....
@@FreedomASMR i know one guysss
That's because the part that prevented this the ATF apparently said it was an autosear. And the imported Cz scorpions aren't allowed to have it apparently
Yes the select-fire version of the Scorpion has a mechanism to prevent this from occurring. So the ATF deserves a *lot* of blame for this but I also feel that CZ should be taking this issue more seriously as well and should have devised a way to more effectively mitigate the risks of OBDs in the semiauto variant.
Sooo can we get that part? You know. For safety purposes. 😂
@@kaz6916 is that only a problem on the us models?
@@floatworkUnfortunately
Well dang I just picked up a scorpion today I’m going to test this tomorrow and see what happens! If there’s enough people who have this issue hopefully they respond to it!
Just happened yesterday to a buddy of mine. Shame on cz. Good on you guys for helping the customer. Hopefully he's one for life.
I just had a double feed at like 170 rounds where it jammed the cartridge in the bore and I had to use a ratchet as leverage to get the bolt to open.
I've tried to do the same with my Evo 3 carbine and the hammer did go off but the primer never got hit and I can't get this same scenario to happen with me.I've tried with the bolt a little open all the way at a different spots but never went off. I have 2021 bolt, so I'm not sure if this issue is being fixed or what.
Out of spec firing pin block. Mine works fine but some allow firing pin to move without the firing pin block depressed.
Ive been familiar with the issue for a while now and dont shoot on binary. The only thing ive experienced were light primer strikes probably from when the gun was out of battery trying to hit the bullet
What do you mean by “don’t shoot on binary “???
Nexus Firearms has an after market bolt that is supposed to fix this problem. But I really would like to see if it pass this test!
Same thing happened to me a couple months back with my scorpion, I’ve tried reaching out to CZ multiple times and no luck. Very disappointed with CZ.
I wanna love cz but after dealing with problems with a 75b and their customer support being how they are it’s hard too
I just picked up a new Scorpion 3 days ago. I have not fired it yet. Function checked it and it does exactly like yours does..this is BS.
I love my scorpion, and checked the firing pin block and its working as intended, BUT I think I'm going to find a new 9mm pcc
I could be wrong but its a blow back design without a tilting barrel. I dont see an issue besides safety. But i dont feel its any more unsafe than a unsupported chamber like glock uses.
There's several videos on here where it blows a hole in the left side of the polymer framed gun out
@@Mr_Clean that’s what happens when you fire the gun out of battery?
I just bought the evo 3+ on Saturday. Ran 250 round through it the first day no problem. Today I was Messi my with it and decided to clear the live round that was chambered, it will not eject it what so ever, I tried three different ammo brands, I had to fish it out every time. Since I literally bought it three days ago should I take it to the shop where I bought it and ask for advice? Or should I contact cz?
Your extractor is probably broken, contact CZ and they'll get you another
I own a cz 🦂 as well zero problems after 2 years.
Probably all direct blowback fire a little out of battery right? We don't want a short firing pin that doesn't fire all ammo
Had a detonation on my cz scorpion a couple of months ago. Sent it in and they repaired with no question…or answer. They didn’t want to answer any of my questions.
Problem is mostly when it's a really bad detonation and you have to chase your fingers or get a blind guide dog 😂
Does the micro suffer this same design flaw? Thanks for the heads up
Probably, as it uses the same design, but we have not tested it.
ive been lucky and had one for years with no issues. but i see more and more of them doing it online
Oof that is something interesting im surprised I haven’t heard of this happening more often. Like with the whole sig p320. Good video my friend
Most of the 320 claims got thrown out due to clear obstructions in the trigger guards 🤣 which just goes to show how negligent cops really are beings they were the majority of the victims to that
I just tried this with mine with the same results. Well that doesn't give me the warm and fuzzy.
Write CZ about it!
If this does happen what’s the worst case scenario? If it fires in open battery it will still eject right? And load a new round? Why is this bad?
@@fbarr8540 when the casing is out of the chamber and the primer is struck and ignites the powder, the explosion will find the weakest point to expel its energy. Usually the brass casing somewhere. Worst case.. it explodes and Ignites the rounds below it in the mag like a chain reaction. Pretty much holding mini grenade. Best case it doesn't lol.
@@MegaChevy65 oh boi
@@MegaChevy65 I've never heard of it igniting the other rounds in the mag. It will rupture the case, and in an AR9 this will usually force the mag out of magwell, and bend/break the mag release. In a scorpion EVO, it can shatter the entire gun into pieces. I've see one that was litterally in 6 pieces. Trigger pack and grip broke off, magwell broke in two, and the upper clamshelled. Scorpion Evo OOB's are some of the most destructive I've ever seen.
Just happened to me too. Really upsetting. My Scorpion is useless now.
Never buying one of these things again.
Autosear fixes ot but illegal in the us. Only option is nexus setup
The reason why I sold mine, reinvested in a solid EDC. Understand that this is a problem with non-locking direct blowback firearms, I fault CZ with the choice of such soft metal for the bolt carrier group and the use of so much polymer for the upper and lower receiver. Buy a Sig MPX 2nd or 3rd gen.
OOB Detonation happened to me today.
Same symptoms. Rapid fire and a blow out on the Left side of the gun.
@@midnight_vagabond Negative. Winchester White Box, Sellier & Bellot, and PMC Bronze were in the can I was loading from. I am segregating my ammo now and glued a plastic laminate sleeve to hold the box(es) manufacturing info.
Side Note: I have been talking to CZ, and they offered "inspection, and applicable repair"
The way the casing was sticking more than 1/3 out of the chamber when the round had its primer struck. While the CZ gunsmith is insisting that a straight blow back does not have a "locking battery position, thus cannot fire out of battery", SAAMI standards define out-of- battery as “the condition of the breeching mechanism of a firearm not being completely locked *or completely closed.*”. We'll see what their investigation yields though. Would like to get replacement/repair, but it wouldnt break the bank to switch to an AR9, AK9, MPX, or similar.
Same exact thing happened to me
@@martyadams725 Send it in to CZ and if youre under the 5 year warranty they'll fix it fo free. Got mine back... Am still too worried to shoot it.
Since this gun has no autosear and no disconnector (a real disconnector employed on guns like the Lahti pistol, the 1911 or the rounded hump on the trigger bar of many pistols - like the Beretta 92), its hammer may be released when the bolt is out of battery. Sad but true. To provide an autosear would be weird, since many idiots would remove the "disconnector" from the hammer group to make it full auto. Seems to be easy to fix. Probably I will never find one of these guns in my country...
***after some thinking, an autosear will prevent the gun from firing if the bolt fails to close, but if it bounces back, it won't help because once the hammer is released by the autosear it can't go back to its autosear notch; the trigger will be able to release it.
Why would someone be an idiot in America for making their weapon full auto? The NFA is a violation of the Constitution. Do not comply.
You can lick boots if you want.
Has this been fixed yet (2024)?
I doubt it ive got the cz plus and was messing with it pulled the bolt halfway open and was able to pull the trigger and when I went to pull it the rest of the way back I was definitely reseting the hammer meaning it dropped. Don't know if it would've fired but the hammer did drop so, very disappointed.
Just took mine one week old Scorpion and did the same - just with sticky note paper piece around the end of dummy ammo. It prints the striker about 5mm out of battery. Shit! Already contacted CZ here in Czech awaiting a response.
Ahoj, mam rovnaky problem, dostal si odpoved od zbrojovky?
Ako dopadla pripadna reklamacia?
What did they say
CZ sent out "suppressor ready" p07/p09 models that had normal iron sights. Denied that they did it, and when shown video and photo evidence they refused to do anything about it. Now apparently all their imports are that way. Deny deny deny and then say yes that's what's happening
@Freedom ASMR
1yr later, does the problem still persist with this pcc?
Yes
@@FreedomASMR Thanks for the info and the video. I was this close to pulling the trigger on the CZ.
One more question. In your opinion, what is the the most trouble free pcc?
@@beezo2560 taht will require online research
@@chanc9737 That goes without saying. I was merely asking his perspective.
I have both the S2 and S1. I’ve been cursing at the ammo wrongfully. Both of them have suffered from squibs on more than one occasion. With me usually breathing a sigh of relief that I wasn’t rapid firing and was able to catch the obstruction without it having gone worse than it could have been. Issues I don’t have with the same ammo in my AR9’s.. guess it’s time to cut my losses and sell them.
Any update on this? This is crazy!
None, CZ isn't a good company.
Contact them. Theyll either have you send your bolt in for a new firing pin block or send you a new pin block. Search the vid by "The Uncouth Truth". He shows whats causing this and how to test your firing pin block.
So this is definitely not supposed to happen but im curious how this caused a gun to blow up?
it allows pressure to blow out the sides rather than down the barrel because the breech block isnt seated against the barrel. Probably didnt happen the first time but over and over again and eventually you might get unlucky.
Because the brass isn't fully supported by the chamber, the brass ruptures allowing the explosion to exit both ends of the barrel
I'll be firing live rounds like this next week to see the results. Will post results here

Mine blew up, they replaced it.
Was it a 3+? How’s the new one?
Ar9mm blowback builds will do the same thing except the gun doesn't go to peaces.
Gotta sell mine. Funny I was just about to buy another. Please let everyone you know not to buy one. Maybe then CZ will listen to their customers.

@@fbarr8540 CZ SCORPION BINARY TRIGGER FROM FRANKLIN ARMORY
@@Kibilmac1 i just ordered my binary trigger this morning for my scorpion evo 3 s1! i was worried about the
battery thing but you havnt had any issues with that? no malfunctions? ive personally put 500 round out of mine, like 300 with stock trigger (ew) and 200 after i bought the hbi industries theta forward trigger and weight reduction spring.
@@djiskool64 Zero problems and I shoot any from steel case to S&B subsonic. Over 2500 rounds through mine. Suppressed with binary no problems at all.
@@Kibilmac1 Awesome!
Not good.
This is why I stay away from blow back guns. Not that locked breach guns are invulnerable to OOBs, but they at least have to be put together a little extra fucked up for them to happen.
CZ should be sued for this
Don't sue CZ, sue the ATF for not allowing CZ to prevent this by having a safety device because according to the ATF it's easier to convert to full auto.
@@projectocamero7502Sue both.
If the gun isn't safe due to some draconian law, cz scorpion shouldn't be selling it.
All blowbacks can do this. If you mess with ar buffer/spring weights you can even get a bolt bounce with unfortunate timing and have an oob detonation. It’s not just a scorpion thing…
@@Chingus696 It is completely different. The block material around the trigger safety is soft and deforms, leading to an eventual blockage of the only safety mechanism remaining. I noticed mine deforming after the first couple mags. This is not an issue on the european/original cz scorpion, but its adaptation to comply with ATF in the US.
So, this is a cz scorpion defect that the manufacturer ignores. And to prevent it you need to go the other way around; of the AR user induced example you cited; and actually modify it to make it safer.
I can't agree more with how badly this is designed. I took mine out for my first big range trip brand new put 390 rounds through it. Ran it very wet under the bolt lots of gun grease. And ended up peening the firing pin block into the bolt causing much further out of battery discharges. If what you showed was the worst of the problems it wouldn't be a big deal, but the fact that it is directly inline with the face of the hammer its not designed to last.
I really hope cz revises this and offers a fix. I thought about a bren, not a chance in hell now.
I dig the sweatshirt. Good video.
CZ is a decent compay from my experience. I hope they resolve this issue. As for me i will be getting a $300 aftermarket bolt made of a harder material. sadly id rather foolproof this than buy another gun. At least it will be dialed in with the binary trigger. Thanks fotr thevideo Pimps.
How does that solve the issue?
