  • You might be wondering what it's like to race the New York City Marathon? I think this running vlog will give you a pretty good idea, from start to finish, exactly what to expect in the streets of New York City during the marathon. This race truly is unique, the crowds were without a doubt the loudest crowds I have ever run through, especially in Brooklyn! Thank you fans, volunteers, and race organizers for putting on a special race in the streets of New York City. Without a doubt the New York City Marathon is a must do for any runner out there who wants to experiene the city in a whole new way. Apply early, apply often as they say. I'm overall very pleased with my race today and with a time of 2:24.01, I'm hungry already to come back for more racing in the future.

    Well done Seth! Great effort and great vlog, New York really looks like an amazing marathon! Btw Michel Butter was chasing olympic qualification which he missed by 8 seconds 4 years ago. But in NY he had the same issue as you in Amsterdam, he was expecting the elite group to split in several groups but they stayed in one pack so he had to decide stay with the elites or drop back and go all by himself. Elites were going too fast and he stayed with them to long and pushed too long to keep the gap small when he dropped back. He had to slow down and go at it solo but burned to much energy at the beginning and was basically done after 25K. Muscle cramps caused him to slow down even more, he said the last 10K were torture.

    • @Jim-be8sj
      @Jim-be8sj Před 4 lety +1

      Wow. I was tracking Michel with the marathon app and was amazed at how fast he was running the first half of the race. Then I noticed his splits were getting about 50% slower and figured something bad had happened. He must be pretty tough to fight through the pain. I think I would have just hopped on the subway and rode to the finish line. :)

New York Marathon looks really special on its own with the big crowds, but it must be extra special with that extra special level of support. I predict there may be some more marathons in your future Seth!

      @@SethJamesDeMoor I hope that you got less muscle soreness than I experience today! Ran the Soweto Marathon on Sunday and very sore quads today! I am just a social runner, started at the age of 59 with running, but really enjoy it. Managed to run a few marathon this year and first Comrades. Will run the Comrades also next year 2021 (back to back medal is what I must go for). Was fortunate to finish within the qualifying time for the Comrades yesterday. Today, 5km recovery run, roller and stretching, but pain is not subsiding yet.
