That intro was hilarious! I love the invite to have people join you. Getting me ready to run 36 miles for my 36th birthday this weekend
You’re demonstrating why I usually just go to Central Park to run. It’s so much cognitive load to run through the city streets. But it’s a great idea for someone visiting!
Haha yeah that would’ve been wayyyy easier - but less all-encompassing 🇺🇸
Yeah, running is actually a great activity for those on vacation to really take in the surroundings. My most vivid vacation memories are of the runs I've done, for example I did a midnight half marathon in Venice Italy, I still mentally return to that run as a source of inner peace/meditation.
Yes, exactly. I usually try to find long runs where I don’t have to think about where I’m going…or get run over by a car!
2:26 Dude with is tongue out. 😂
Amazing! Thats basically a route called "The Great Saunter". There is a walk/run event every mid May each year.
Glad I could join you for the finish! - 5ker
My friend and I did the same run the Spring of our senior year of college, 2022! Stopped at the same porta potties you did at the 4 minute mark. There were so many times we got re-routed by construction. The worst was all the stretches we would run down, realize we couldn't continue and have to turn back around. Ran into the same problem with the trail abruptly stopping towards the Northwest corner of the island. We ended up hiking down on the rocks by the water. Right before that we were blasting "The Climb" by Miley Cyrus on that huge hill haha. We were expecting a nice 50K but ended up going somewhere around 38 miles as well. What a great experience! Got me feeling all nostalgic. Glad you enjoyed! :)
shoot i missed this, i would've joined!
Ah would’ve been great - next time 👀
I thought this was even cooler when you said you were settling in for 10 mm. Accessible adventure, real people could do, and did do with you. Made me actually think, yes I could do this!
No merit to absolutely sending it on this one, community > max effort.
I love this so much, traveling to a place and exploring it by running!
Awesome mate!!! Love that city!! The marathon there in 2013 was my first full distance!!!
Love a good Sightseeing run round a new place!!!
Love this Fergus, I've been navigationally-challenged and find it hard to motivate myself every time I see the street numbers barely change every time I've run in NYC so this was a phenomenal effort
I love this idea and great way to see a city🤗 Would love to join something like this someday🙏🏼
Superb, as always Sir 👏🏽
Thank you my man!
My uncle lived in Manhatten for 50+ yeas before his passing in 1999. I live here in Miami, where Uncle Don grew up in the 1930's & 40's ....he lived in the Murray Hill neighborhood in Manhatten at 201 E 34th street Apt 15-A (the 15th floor in a 15 floor bldg)
It’s an incredible city, I will be back!
Completely irrelevant to the video but Merry Christmas Fergus
The other week I ran my first Ultra, and I mentioning this because I attribute my success to you. I used the squashies as a source a fuel, and mate, they’re great.
Gonna enjoy this banger today too ❤
Amazing to hear! And hope you had a wonderful Christmas.
Squashies 🤝 ultras.
You are crazed dude! But we love it!
😂 thanks for watching!
I enjoyed this video start to end. Would love to see more of this “journey” style content. Sad we didn’t get to see the camera in any shops (ex to pickup the sour patch kids)
Fantastic 😅 have a great Christmas 🎅
You too, thanks for watching!
The intro made me laugh, ngl. Well done on the run and thank you for catching these sights. Seems like something that might make a lasting impression in the most positive of ways.
Haha glad you enjoyed! It was a blast for sure.
Love this idea! Did a very similar adventure last week, 39 mile run to cover our entire river path here in Boise Idaho. Next time I visit family in NYC though, I'll have to give this a go!
Greenbelt aye?
@@AveryFalash you bet! czcams.com/video/IAsCLTFaSNI/video.html
@willeml0119 glad you enjoyed, thanks! 🙌
The Columbia fields are actually 100 blocks north of campus! We don’t have space in morningside heights for all of our outdoor sports facilities 😅
I ran down that same path in the snow on the upper west side, I ended up pushing through knee deep snow and the upper pass 😂😂 Super Run 💪💪
Haha that would’ve complicated things.
Much more glamorous than a run round Bolton
Great idea and well executed under the circumstances. Having visited NY recently, it gives me anxiety just thinking about trying to navigate a 52 (or even 60) km route!
Andrew Shelley you are an absolute legend
Can confirm.
Phenomenal
Really cool video, and inspiring channel. Fellow runner here. Do you have links to the gear you use? I liked the hat and the shorts 😁
very cool
It sure was 🇺🇸
Excellent. I guess that from your last run the Wirral is more tricky than the Big Apple 😮
Hahaha, more that it was less justifiable to piss my hip off for 😂
You're kidding. I should be going to the gym but I'm going to watch this instead. This Musselburgh transplant would have bought you a drink if I'd known you were here :)
I could have spared you all those navigation snafus too :-) Oustanding effort from everyone. Envious of your stamina and knees. The East Side is tricky but there's only really one place you can go wrong on the West Side... and you found it! Me too! Brilliant video. Good luck with whatever's next.
(And well done Andrew!)
Batman was filmed in Chicago, not NY - you'll have to run a lap around Chi-town next time you're in the states!
Join us for The Wintering, going live on 27/12/23: www.omnia-performance.com/the-wintering
Haha! I knew you'd fall for that little trick at the top of the west side. You gotta go up the ramp silly! We all fall for it the first time lol.
Great video! Where’s your cap from?
Makes Hardest Geezer even harder, this!
Sorry to have missed this, but good to know that you had plenty of excellent company along your route. I hope you recovered by doing some suitably touristy things? Come back and visit again - we'll find some fun new challenges for you here.
Loved it, suitable touristiness was achieved 🤝
Perhaps you made the same mistake as I did coming south from Inwood Hill Park: a "no public access sign" that tells of a missed turn a mile or so back (the intended route follows Empire State Trail signs from the bottom of Dyckman Street up a ramp to beside the Henry Hudson Parkway). We carried on regardless, and the...er..."trail run" between the railway and the river down to the GWB was perhaps the highlight of the day.
Hoping to run 50K over all the bridges, from GWB to Brooklyn, in February...
Right, that's about the only mistake you can make on the west side and we've all made it :) Good luck on your bridge run. I've run them all individually or in out and back pairs. Randall's Island was awfully confusing :)
I had the same idea when I went there in November, but ended up not doing it. Maybe next time lol
*whispers* do it.
@@ferguscrawley95 *sighs* fine, I'll do it.
What vest are you wearing? Looks ideal.
Awesome well done thanks again to the videographer what a legend! Great way to see the city, a colaboration with Casey Neistat for the next one 👍
Mega
🤝
I thought u Said run a lap around the big Apple 😂
cool
🤝
Loved the intro, Merry Christmas, maybe you can do some BJJ with Johnny in another video 😂👍❤
it's too bad you couldn't connect with Casey Neistat for part of the run! obv a legend in NYC running! what a great collab that would be!
