    one of the trucks in my fleet has been doing this, the thing is that all the parts I have currently replaced - YES, I was able to VERIFY bad....
    DEF heater assembly
    exhaust pressure sensor and connector - was broken
    DPF and injector for it
    injectors # 1 and # 8
    intercooler tube (used upgraded metal one)
    pigtail for pressure regulator (insultation on wires wore off and wires touching causing a P0092)
    All my other codes do not repeat and only left with this P0093 sometimes turning off engine.
    Like you it is passing all checks, I'm gonna replace it and go for a good test drive.
    If the regulator is sticking open it would make sense that the engine dies.
    will update in some days.
    thanks for the suggestion.

    I had THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE with my truck. It happened to me while pulling my camper over 70mph and truck went into safe mode. I was fortunate to be rite next to a diesel shop that did upgrades and he did all the tests you listed in this vehicle but he 2 couldn't find the issue. as long as I was under 65mph all was good with the truck. unloaded I could do 100mph and never duplicate this problem with a load on the truck. so my initial thought and that of others said I needed to replace the factory lift pump with a s&B 56gal tank which has a built in sump and with the fass it gets 70lbs of preasure. well I tried it again and again same issue happened so I limped the truck to where I was going just took longer but it made it there. while there I went to 2 more specialty shops and they like the 1st shop said it should not be doing what it was doing see I now have a cts2 and ezlink so I can see everything happening in real time and everything, everything was perfect in their values. in my mind since the 1st time it happened I thought it was this preasure valve so I had 1 shop change it idc what it did or costs. well in the way to having this work done I happened across your video and BINGO this was exactly what my truck was doing. since I had this part replaced I have given the truck all the crap I can and problem fixed. Thanks for your video more people need to see this one because I'm sure their are more then us both have this issue.

      I'm having the same now but mine is still just shutting down when I stop. Large leak detected code. I put new rail on with the sensors already installed on them from Ford. May the sensor is bad on the new one????

    I have the issue with my f250, replaced the fuel pressure regulator with a oem ford part and now it does it more often. Also have a low fuel pressure code. Next up is to check my fuel pump in my tank and make sure it feeding enough diesel to my hpfp

    I got a p0088 fuel rail pressure too high with a check engine light and a reduced engine power on the dash do you know what could be the cause in you experience? Or have you had this particular code before thanks

    I have the exact same problem.
    I replaced the regulator and all was good for a month then started doing the same .
    Now what do you think about after market.
    I bought it from an auto part store not and ford because they did not have it on stock.
    Do you think I need to be another regulator from dealer.
    Your answer would be greatly appreciated.

  • @billtaunton6918

    I added a new fuel rail and both sensors. I bought it from ford and the sensors were already installed on the fuel rail. My truck a 2015 4x4 occasionally blows the low pressure off a barb at random places but after fuel rail replacement with new sensors it will just go dead when I stop. It will however crank back up easily and at the next traffic light or stop sign it goes dead again.

    • @CarShopTalk

      Usually if they blow a rerun line off it’s because there’s DEF crystals or other debris restricting the return line. It didn’t get DEF put in the fuel did it?

    • @billtaunton6918

      @@CarShopTalk I deleted most everything and no longer use DEF I didn't put any in the fuel and honestly dont know if anyone would have done that to me. I was working on it just now after putting on new low pressure lines and checked for restrictions all the way to the tank. I even took the fuel cooler loose and checked it for restrictions. It starts really fast, idles with no skip, seems to have drag car power! Turn off the advance trac system and stomp pedal ( I'm not talking apply brake pedal any to start a burn out either) to the floor and after rolling maybe 3 feet this engine will smoke these 35's I have on it. You can do it several times but then again like just now, sitting here idling it just shuts off. It will start back up with no problem. Other thing it does is on the hwy not pulling anything, extra pedal to pass or enough to kick in turbo boost boom instant reduced power light comes on. It wont do it flooring it like a 1/8 mile playing with how the power feels. This is very strange. Any help greatly appreciated. You can call me if you have any ideas. I have had it in many shops. 256 750 3600. Thanks

    I have the same thing happening now. Truck runs fine until you accelerate hard then it says reduced engine power. I replaced whole rail on drivers side it came from Ford with both sensors already attached. I reused the old lines to hook the new rail to. I don't see any leaks. Could the lines that they claim as one time use be the problem. I don't see any sign of fuel escaping

    • @CarShopTalk
      @CarShopTalk  Před rokem

      I don’t think it could be the lines if there’s not a leak. Was it flagging this code before you replaced the fuel rail?

  • @nealyoung2874
    @nealyoung2874 Před rokem

    I have a 17 250 6.7. Truck runs like a scolded dog empty. Hard through the mountains empty. Locally pulling 14K stop and go no issues all day. Hook my 8000 pound camper to it. And on level interstate after an hour it will just kick into reduced power. Quick on and off of ignition and fine. Getting P0093 and P0087. No reduction in MPG. No issues starting. When it kicks to reduced power mode it’s not even on an incline. Have had at dealer. Can’t get it to replicate. Want to replace entire fuel system. To me, if it were something that bad needing to replace entire system it would do it all the time. Going up steep grades not towing and flooring it to me would be as similar as towing light on level grade. Not willing to put 12k into the truck.

    • @CarShopTalk
      @CarShopTalk  Před rokem +1

      If I remember correctly P0093 is fuel leakage, basically the pcm thinks it’s putting more fuel into the injection system to maintain the pressure it wants than what it thinks it should have to for that condition. A lot of things can cause it, but most of the ones I’ve seen were the pressure regulator at the back of drivers side fuel log. P0087 is low high side pressure. The PCM couldn’t achieve the pressure desired on the high side. Both of those codes, especially the P0093 have to occur for X amount of time before it will flag a code, which is probably why your having trouble duplicating it. A one mile up hill grade just doesn’t last as long as driving across the state with a 10,000 load.

      @@CarShopTalk thanks for the reply. It’s been frustrating. A quick cycle of the key and I’m able to keep going. Going to try that. I can’t trust the dealer as back in November I had it serviced for a little more travel in the brake pedal than I liked. $9200 later and it’s fixed after they just kept chasing an internal leak.

    Sounds like my problem too. What is the easiest way to depressurize the system?

    • @CarShopTalk
      @CarShopTalk  Před 2 lety +1

      I can’t say I’ve ever really had an issue with it. I had to change a regulator on one last week and I just loosened the regulator and a small trickle of fuel came out. Once the system is opened any where it drops to 0 psi immediately.

    Can I get some other possibilities of what it could be, because for some people I’ve heard it was their Pcv, their hpfp and even some lift pumps

    • @CarShopTalk
      @CarShopTalk  Před 3 lety +1

      I’ve never seen a lift pump cause it, but the others are possible as well as an injector. Really anything that makes the high pressure pump have to pump more fuel volume than it normally would.

    Hello
    I have been fighting a problem where my 19 f450 will shut of and give “reduced engine power “ message on dash. Check codes and only one that appears is p0093. Truck runs flawless in every other aspect including mpg. It always happens when pulling very heavy loads “3car trailer loaded”. It is completely random when this will happen, but has been happening a little more often lately. I have had all of the basic test done for a fuel pressure, looking for metal in the fuel lines, and all the tests show good when it is at the shop and on the diagnosis scanners.
    Is the sensor you show replacing in this video sound like it would be a good option considering the trouble I am having. Thank you for your input
    FYI no check engine light , just stored p0093 code
