      Ain't this the truth. Spent all my teen and early 20s not even knowing how to properly Ollie. Would be proud to get half a foot off the ground. After trying these methods I can honestly say I've landed a 2.5 ft Ollie. ( Not the greatest accomplishment to some people but I am beyond happy with it!) Thanks @SkateIQ

      It's a dance. Everyone can move but can they explain it? My guess is the more we analyze it and have people disecting it the more the new generation takes it to a whole new level. With knowledge comes greater and greater complexity. The art of skateboarding.

      I feel that. I must've spent weeks straight back in the day trying to drag my foot in the garage and essentially just kicking the board out from under me before I was given the advice of "just jump and you'll naturally 'slide' a bit."
      Even that was a bit reductive and took a ton of trial and error to eventually understand what this guy was able to put down in 15 seconds, lmao.

We were there, doing acid drops off of everything .. that kid took us to the lawn. We started to learn to Ollie on the grass!! Once I could kick then land it. ? Then I took it to the street. By the time we were head to the next city I had it down.. one of the greatest BASE LINE moves..

If I had had this lesson about LIFTING your front foot up then using it to level the board out, I would have been getting much higher ollies. Too bad I don't really skate anymore LOL.

  • @SacMacAttack

    My tip for ollieing higher is to get your front foot closer to your back foot just like he says then lift that front foot up as high as you can while you're popping with the back and when your board gets almost vertical then push it back horizontally and aim the soles of your feet slightly forward to go with the motion of the board.

    • @SKATEiQ
      @SKATEiQ  Před 3 měsíci +1

      yep. pretty much. you can lift your back foot higher instead of sliding it forward too but either are just fine

  • @princelysnail1998
    @princelysnail1998 Před 3 měsíci +1

    Similarly with the pop, what fixed mine was to jump first, then pop the board up to you on your way up, otherwise you do the tail stall thing and get no air

    • @SKATEiQ
      @SKATEiQ  Před 3 měsíci

      Yeah thats a great way to put it

  • @eternallyotaku1289
    @eternallyotaku1289 Před 3 měsíci

    For my friends it was teaching them that the pop with your back foot is what sticks it to your front foot, that you should lift your front foot first, to about where your knee is- then your back foot, to the same height as your front foot.
    Find which way you ride so you know front foot. Then place a broom on the ground. Stand sideways next to broom with your front foot next to the broom. Lift your front foot (close to broom) to your knee. Then jump up and over the broom with with your back foot, bringing it to where you left foot is. Your should land on the other side of the broom with both feet same time.

    @marcuslawson9750 Před 3 měsíci +1

    this is true. when im trying to flip the board instead of ollie, i tell my brain to do a really hard ollie and then i end up kicking hard enough to flip it. vs when i ollie i barely slide

While I see people in that position as victims they are also big influencers of others lives and I don’t like to think kids are being brought into Scientology because of them. But if their videos help you skate better that’s great. Their Ollie videos helped me learn to Ollie, however this video showed that their method is more of a stepping stone rather than the ideal Ollie.
