Whether they are new cars going to be sold or old cars going to auction, cars stacked precariously on semi-trailers is a common sight on the nation's roads. Car companies load the maximum amount of cars possible onto the trailers, lending a jigsaw-puzzle look to the entire contraption. With this trailer kit you can load as many as six 1/25 scale kits and haul them with a 1/25 scale tractor (all sold separately). Kit features metal chain and vinyl tubing details, separate extendable rear ramps, and more.
Highly detailed plastic pieces
Trailer holds up to 6 cars, 1/25 or 1/24 scale
Detailed with metal chains and vinyl tubing
Separate and extendable rear ramps
Can be used with 1/25 or 1/24 scale tractors (not included)

Illustrated instructions
A car carrier trailer, also known as a car-carrying trailer, car hauler, or auto transport trailer, is a type of trailer or semi-trailer designed to efficiently transport passenger vehicles via truck.
Modern car carrier trailers can be open or enclosed. Most commercial trailers have built-in ramps for loading and off-loading cars, as well as power hydraulics to raise and lower ramps for stand-alone accessibility.
Commercial-size car carrying trailers are commonly used to ship new cars from the manufacturer to auto dealerships. In the United States, shipping of used vehicles is also a big industry, employed by car owners who are relocating and choose to ship their cars instead of driving, as well as consumers who have just purchased a vehicle on the second-hand market (particularly online) and need it delivered to their location.
Like other semi-trailers, most commercial car carrier trailers attach to the tractor using a fifth wheel coupling. Trailers can either be enclosed, possessing walls like a conventional box trailer, which affords the shipped vehicles more protection at the cost of lower capacity; or open, as in the commonly seen skeletal tube steel design, which exposes the vehicles to the elements but allows for greater carrying capacity. An American commercial car carrier typically fits between 5 and 9 cars, depending on the car size and trailer model (capacity is limited by an 80,000 lb weight cap that a road vehicle is subject to under U.S. law.[1]). Significantly higher-capacity vehicles have been observed around the world, such as a side-by-side loading Chinese model.[2]
Open commercial car carrier trailers typically have a double-decker design, with both decks subdivided into a number of loading and storage ramps that can be tilted and lifted independently of one another with hydraulics. Unlike flatbed tow trucks, which often need to transport non-running vehicles, car carrier trailers are not equipped with loaders or winches, instead, relying on the vehicles to be loaded under their own power. The trailer hydraulics allow the ramps to be aligned on a slope, so cars can be driven up and secured to the ramp floor with chains, tie-down ratchets, or wheel straps, after which the ramp can be tilted in any direction to optimize stacking.
To load vehicles on the top deck of a double-decker commercial trailer, the rear half of the deck can tilt and be lowered hydraulically, forming a drive-up ramp to the upper deck. The top deck is usually loaded first and off-loaded last since the presence of cars on the lower deck can make it impossible to lower the top deck ramp.
Trailer hydraulics are operated using a control box mounted on the trailer itself.
In order to further expand storage capacity, some trucks, typically called stinger units, are equipped with an "overhead" - an extra storage space mounted above the truck cabin which is accessible via the top ramp of a car carrier trailer. Up to 3 vehicles can be loaded on the truck: one on the roof, and two over the 5th wheel/drive tires. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
I absolutely love how you have little backstorys for your builds.
I was having a terrible day, pop open CZcams and see this video and all is good with life!!
Thanks man!
Looks just like the ones delivering cars to the dealership by my home. Great job.
Thanks 👍
I just found these for sale yesterday and now I get a video? What timing! This will go perfect with my Revell Ford Aeromax hauling 6 custom lowrider models to the car show! Thank you for the video!
Glad I could help!
I’m new at model building and suck. But I’ve been following your builds and have greatly improved and learned a lot building along with your videos. Thanks man.
Nobody sucks at a hobby.
Just keep up with it, take your time and have fun. It's not a competition or contest, it's a hobby.
All the rest comes with practice.
I gotta be honest man my favorite part of your videos is when you hand paint the pieces the attention to detail that you add to them is amazing you give them the look of everyday use if they where life size keep up the good work buddy
I appreciate that!
I would love to see them make the car carrier that has the tractor trailer truck. That is incorporated with the frame work to hold the cars on it and the trailer.
Got mine in the mail today. Out of room for kits and loving it!
Enjoy it!
You're right about the ramps.
I built it back in may 1987 it came good and added to my Kenworth w900 it was white car carrier and I used house hold dust as the weathering
Who doesn't need one of these??? Super cool build.
Thanks!
I just picked up this bad boy. Thanks so much for the build and review.
Hope you enjoy it!
Can’t wait for the cabover
Wow, I just love this channel ! Awesome job again and great back story with Ace Cars !!! GOD Bless !!! 😇👍🏼
Glad you enjoy it!
Can't wait to see the build of the chrome tanker! Great job on the car hauler!
Thanks for watching!
Looks great, as always! Thanks for the video. Near my house there is a ginormous lot that sells to dealers only. One day I saw a trailer jammed full of vintage muscle cars. All of the cars on top were first-generation Camaros. You are an ace at weathering. Cool on you!
Must have been a Ford transporter with all those oil stains in the middle. Lol. Terrific work as usual good sir!
Thanks for stopping by!
Just bought mine - thanks for the video.
Glad I could help!
Sweet love the build now got to decide which tractor to pull it can't wait for the international trans star drove one .
Thanks!
Very cool... a lot of glue & repeat the same looking parts !
Nice they put the psrts in grey/silver , now you need a big rig project so you can hook--up & go ! ✌😎
A good place for displaying some factory fresh rides 🚗🚕🚓
Thank you for the build & video 🙂
That would be cool!
A great kit for any automotive modeler!!!!! 👍👍👍
Yes indeed!
Awesome build. Ordered mine today.
Hope you enjoy it!
I was looking forward to this build because I've had this kit since 2005 and haven't built it yet! Glad to see I have options in terms of color schemes and as always the weathering looks good. I've got several cars waiting to go on it, and a Peterbilt 359 to rebuild to haul it.
Hope you enjoy it!
@@hpiguy Two years later, I've rebuilt the tractor and now working on the trailer!
Great review and build Chris. Got mine couple months ago on a pre order. Thanks for sharing.
Hope you enjoy it!
Awesome Work Chris, have a Blessed Week.
Thanks, you too!
Build ultra magnus out of that trailer.
This is when I really miss Testors Road Grime paint from the 80's I used to use. It reallyu looked good on tractor trailer kits.
Not just a great model but a fantastic model to show off your model cars
Glad you like it!
Great review and build. Thanks. Looks like a good kit to build. Love the pic of the old hobby shop at beginning of video.peace
Glad you enjoyed it!
Looks really good for a revell kit.
Very nice mate👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Awesome work as always mate 👍👍
Thank you! Cheers Gary!
Gotta pick up at least one of these. Been on my wish list for awhile now!!
Enjoy!
@@hpiguy Indeed I will!! Thank ya
Yesterday I watched a Ron Pratt YT video of him hauling one of these (not that exact model, a newer one) out of a mudhole, and it reminded me of you showing this one off when you got it in and me asking (okay, begging) to see it built, and here you are building it up.
Life is good.
(I don't think a model has ever been made of Pratt's big Rotator truck- it's a 43000 pound crane-equipped wrecker. If I still had the eyesight to scratchbuild one...)
Thanks!
Nice job!!..
Thank you! Cheers!
Very nice build, i ordered this model this week and the Peterbilt 359 conventional for the display. I had also some us cars to fill the Trailer.
What an amazing looking trailer
Thanks!
@@hpiguy no problem keep the cool videos coming out! 😃
You make this one seem simple! Then again, the full-size auto transport trailer’s utilitarian design and its open form both lend themselves to an ease of the kit’s construction, and in painting it realistically, which Revell AG’s adaptation of the actual apparatus uses to good effect on both counts.
This trailer kit is noticeably larger and rather sturdier than its AMT predecessor. A key concern would be what tractor would pull it, toward making a creditable display; a Kenworth or a Peterbilt might seem obvious. Would such a cab have a sleeper?
Additionally, this auto transport trailer looks to me to be relatively new (I understand the kit dates from 1987, though this feels premature); therefore, some of the available kits of tractors (of relatively limited choices) could be a generation or more older, so something more contemporaneous might prove more realistic.
Also, the automakers would place in the lead a vehicle of its own manufacture; for Ford automobiles, this might be the Ford L 9000, and for General Motors products, perhaps the GMC General Tractor (or something similar). I note all this because I would need to find a suitable model kit to pair with the trailer replica; for me, the best available option would be the Ford L 9000. I would appreciate your feedback on technical and historical accuracy.
That is the key: accuracy.
I like the detail oil effect on the drip strip between the frame rails but when the dealer sees it on his lot when the NEW cars arrive he just might send them back. I for one wouldnt want purchase a new vehicle leaking oil all over the place. 😊
Another great build Chris, that w900 looks good in the front.
Glad you like it!
Outstanding video and presentation
Glad you enjoyed it!
Sweeet build man. Do hobby’s to! I’m working on a 1/25 MACK Cruise liner that you reviewed!
Thanks!
Impressive 👍☺️
Thanks for the visit!
Wow that's awesome 👌yeah I may have to get one 😀
You should!
For the perfect display!
Glad i seen your video on this ..
Just ordered my kit today... Round 2 is awesome to have around now... I just wish they'd bring back out the Revell XLT Bronco full-size kit molded all in black from the 80's
This will go good with my five star GMC General with Sleeper Berth
Thanks!
Thank You Great Build I have this model now I know how to do it My way Thank You 🐎Mr. ED Says Just Have Fun Modeling. Oh I am going to get me some aftermarket chain binders
Well this one is cool. I’m a car hauler in real life. Thanks for doing this one
Thanks!
what a build you would need a sizable display case for this.👍
Yes!
I have one I built about 30 years or so ago.along with AMT car hauler.
I built 1 of these a few years ago turned really nice. I like the kit so much I just picked up 3 more kits from ebay 2 weeks ago. KUTGW
Very cool!
Very Nice Job ... My Friend.
She's a big one for sure.
Yes, thanks!
l'm toying with a scratch built version from the late 40's using AMT's "lowboy" trailer as a base. Obviously holding a max of 5 cars and very limited hydraulic ramp movement. Plus the port hole/ribbed siding limiting cargo view. I've used styrene channel for the actual tread path/ ramps. What you may wish to add here are lengths of plastic band strapping placed within the channel. It is "crosshatched"and gives great effect. Lots of work ahead for me but thought I'd pass the tip to you.
OK!
This one is on my "wish list" since forever - so glad for rerelease - just hope it won't be for a "limited" run! Yes - will save on precious precious shelf space.... Anyone courageous enough to to go for a "stinger" rack for the tractor???
The build turned out great, excellent work! I have built one myself a couple of years back, but I also noticed that modern 1/24 scale cars like a Ferrari Enzo (or a Jaguar XJ220) don't actually fit on the trailer...
I noticed about 10 minutes into your build you mentioned the hitch pin was broken off. I bought this same model and, low and behold, mine was broken off also. Must be a factory thing. Great build.
Yeah, must be easy to break off in that slide in style boxing.
Awesome build! Maybe a 2nd kit could be used to kit-bash the ramps to have one more car directly atop a (low-roof) tractor as is often the case.
That would be cool
Nice build! It would look great behind the new IH 4070A (hint, hint).
Good call!
Just started collecting diecast cars again and I thought displaying them on something like this would be awesome. Unfortunately the entire diecast line I'm currently working on is all 1:24 and I cannot find something like this in that scale to save my life. :'(
It's always Second shift, lol. You've seen it happen a million times. Usually its a box trailer, but if a bridge is low enough, any trailer can get stuck.
Do you ever have to thin your bottle paints? I always have to. Thanks!
Nice dekels.
LOL
two questions for you. the first is can I still find these trailers to assemble?. the second question is on the auto trailers we see today the semi has a platform to put a car on the semi. Is it possible for me to create something like that ? and what would I use thanks!
The one dislike, must be from the second shift guy.
LOL
I have a very very loyal group of haters. They follow the channel just to thumbs down the videos. We'll let them hate, and you and I will keep making models. :)
Ironlak Sugar paint?
Just when I thought I'd seen everything you could come up with you toss this in.
You.are.the.best.
Thanks!
Did you have any issues with hooking up the hydraulic hoses?
Better tighten up the drain plugs on those oil pans !!🤣 great build . Can't wait to get one for my Kenworth.👍👍🇨🇦
Thanks 👍
is it fit to 1:24 truck? how big gap betwwen 1/25 and 1/24
Anyone else notice the instructions are wrong about the bumper. The box art has the low part of the bumper touching the frame and the instructions call for the bumper wings to be even with the frame. I noticed it after it was painted 🙈😔
Just getting around to building mine. Did you have shifted seem lines like me? Took hours to clean up. Mine also had a broken king pin.
Painting mine like one I see near me. Need to stretch my peterbilt tractor and lengthen the sleeper. Love the weathering.
Stay safe buddy 🌲
Not any huge issues on my end aside from the broken pin.
Well, here I am again with a big problem this time.. I have lost parts... Is there any way to get replacement parts???
Very awesome sir....!! (Was hoping to see a little more time and angles with cars on it though..)
Thanks!
Well I watched the video several times and bought the trailer and now I have a very strange question.. Can you tell me how high it is from the table to the top of car #11??? I am making a shadow box for the trailer and tractor and would like to make it before I complete the trailer...
I don't have access to the kit anymore, sorry.
Dose it attached to the semi truck
I have the original release from the 80s, Looks the same was a good kit then
Will this hook up with most cabs of 1/25 th scale including AMT's?
Yup
They remove a lot of structural members in this model. I guess they were trying to save on how much plastic was being used.
when doing truck ( or tractor as you guys call them) trailers, you need 1 if not 2 of the tyres to be completely bald and 1 worn right down on 1 edge lol .. and a few flat spots
LOL, yup!
Do you think this would hold diecast cars or just resin/plastic models?
1/24 diecast, sure. If assembled with quality glue properly.
mannn , superkool
RJ
Thanks!
Wow awesome build looks cool with the cars on it well done sir
Thank you kindly!
I've been enjoying your videos. Any ideas for modeling with only one hand? Can't remember stand with adjustable arms and alligator clips on the ends. I think it was called mechanical fingers used in electronics. Any suggestion would be much appreciated!
Soldering Helping Hands are what I use, and Tamiya Paint Stands, both will help hold parts.
You can also look up things like flexible arm or clamp holders, etc that could help hold things for you.
@@hpiguy thank you kindly for the input. I will definitely look into those suggestions. Keep the builds coming, great videos!
WOW - as good as it looks empty - with cars on - WOW (or did I say that already?).
Thanks!
Chris, thanks for sharing another awesome build! Excellent coloring and weathering detail!! Can't wait to grab this one!
Awesome! Thank you!
Very nice, I have the older version, do you might know if there are any differences? And I got the one from mitsuwa, too. Do you know that kit? Thanks for sharing, It's kinda funny, when I started collecting kits back in 2010/11, I really wondered that they're barely any kits found on youtube. So that's actually a cool thing to show! Back it up. Maybe I make some performance from some kit, specially when it's requested! Peace✌️👍
I'm not aware of any differences but I'm not a kit historian so I'm sure others will know more.
Thank you!
Try a satin coat on the chrome and let us see how you like it or not
You mean like I've shown on screen doing in hundreds of videos? ;)
Awesome! 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Greetings from NC. Does anyone have any spare gas? We are out. Ha. You build a lot of different kits. Really enjoying the builds. TY.
Thanks! I love building any type of kit.
Another great build Chris! I just have one complaint. I know it's your channel. But, too many commercials!
You Tube makes those decisions, I have no input into it. They use ads to pay for the site so that we can use this site 100% free to us.
I see they have a paid part of YT where you will no longer see ads. Might be an option you'd want to look into. Thanks!
Knocked it out of the park
Thanks Ray!
do you do 1:64 scale paint?
Nope, haven't worked on those yet.
Anyone know 1/24 Tamiya cars fit on there?
Yes, they will fit.
Nice 👍
Great build as always ,love how you used the chains great job love your videos
Thank you very much!
Can it roll
That's a really cool way to display some model cars for sure!!! Your weathering technique is fantastic!!! I would swear that rig has been working for many years hauling rides up and down the highway from state to state, really nice build!!!
Cool, thanks!
My kit didn't have the chains so i used some cheap jewelry for little kids chain.
Time to buy a bigger turntable 🙂
How many cars was this trailer designed to carry????
Helps to watch all of the video my man. Thanks for stopping by!
Ahhh I won't spoil your fun and say how many in case someone else is curious
looks really good nice build!!
Glad you think so!
How do I get that car carrier can you send me one
