Kenworth Trucks, Inc. is an American-based truck manufacturer. Founded in 1923 as the successor company to Gerlinger Motors, Kenworth specializes in production of heavy-duty (Class 8) and medium-duty (Class 5-7) commercial vehicles. Headquartered in Seattle suburb Kirkland, Washington, Kenworth has been a wholly owned subsidiary of PACCAR since 1945,[1] operating alongside sister company (and marketplace rival) Peterbilt Motors.
Kenworth marked several firsts in truck production; alongside the first truck produced with a standard diesel-fuel engine, the company introduced a raised-roof sleeper cab, and the first heavy-duty truck with an aerodynamically optimized body design.[2] The Kenworth W900 has been produced continuously since 1961, serving as one of the longest production runs of any vehicles in automotive history.
For 1961 production, Kenworth underwent a substantial revision of its commercial truck line, debuting the W900 and the K900 (later renamed the K100); the W and K model prefixes are derived from company founders Worthington and Kent.[6][10] The W900 debuted the first complete redesign of the Kenworth conventional cab since 1939 with a standard tilting hood.[10] Similar in appearance to the previous K500, the K900/K100 received a taller cab and the doors of the W900.[16]
To meet increased demand for the new product lines, Kenworth opened a new assembly facility in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1964.[10] From 1964 to 1966, Kenworth nearly doubled its yearly truck sales.[17] In 1968, the company established Kenworth Australia; in place of importation and conversion, right-hand drive trucks were produced and developed in Melbourne, Australia.[17]
1970s: Product line diversification
During the 1970s, the company underwent further expansion, adding an all-new facility in Chillicothe, Ohio, in 1974.[17] Kenworth added two new product lines in 1972, adding the C500 6x6 severe-service conventional and the Hustler low-cab COE (developed jointly with Peterbilt and produced in Canada[18][19]). The same year, parent company Pacific Car and Foundry adopted its current name PACCAR.
Coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the company, annual Kenworth sales exceeded 10,000 for the first time for 1973.[6][17]
For 1976, Kenworth launched a flagship customization series, the VIT (Very Important Trucker) with a high level of interior features; distinguished by its skylight windows, the Aerodyne sleeper cab was the first factory-produced sleeper cab with stand-up headroom (for both the W900 and K100).[6] To commemorate the American Bicentennial, the VIT series was introduced in a limited-edition series of 50 (with each truck named after a state).
1980s-1990s: Trucks of the future
In 1982 and 1984, respectively, the W900 and K100 underwent their most substantial revisions, becoming the W900B and K100E. While visually distinguished by the adoption of rectangular headlamps, the updates were centered around upgrading fuel economy, road handling, and reliability. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
on some of the mixers I worked on, there was no passenger seat and a mixer control panel was pedestalled to the floor with a panel about 10 by 16 inches angled toward the drivers position.
this is a good addition to the IHC Pay star mixer and the Mack R series mixer!
Man I love your imagination and back stories!
Thanks for coming along!
Chris+ another great build keem coming never get tired of big Rig builds love it stay safe keep warm keep praying for those in Texas
Thanks 👍
Great example of how to use the decal set!
The most of frustrations after hard work is
breaking the detail. Fine work!
Thank you very much!
The inside of the concrete shuts on most all the trucks I’ve seen are mostly bare metal and rust. Other than that this is another great build Mr Chris
Looks great.Love how you hand paint the details
That turned out awesome for a money maker
Really looks like it is gonna start work any second. Thanks for another great build.
You bet!
Thank you so much...watching you just paint and build so much can be learned and I love these AMT kits...
Glad you like them!
Super duper cool. Love how it looks. My uncle drive a mixer for years, reminds me of him. Great stuff and great job.
Very cool!

Awesome mate, so thankful to have this kit back again, love the weathering as always.
Thanks Gary!
What color was the weathereation on the frame cab and motor?
Very nice build, learning some new techniques and you did a great job showing the way. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Chris, You did a really good job on this one!...Love the weathering!...Keep the builds coming!
Thanks 👍
Beautiful! Can't wait to get my hands in this one
Hope you enjoy it!
Drove the exact 1×1 for Tucson Sand and Soil in the early 80's
Hey Chris, Love your builds and stories. I know your main goal is not teaching, but I've learned a lot! My favorite? "Build for YOU!" Love it. Thanks.
You bet, thanks for coming along for the fun!
That came out nice Chris. Yep as you say all the time, build for you! I totally agree! That half of the fun and enjoyment is seeing your vision coming in finish.
You got that right!
So glad this kit got reissued. Perfect for kit bashing!!
Agreed!
Sir, very well done...I enjoyed all the segments (my fav is always, "what's in the box") but I do enjoy seeing the "final product"
As you've said many times... I BUILD for MYSELF (and, I've been much happier for it). Thanks again for all these great videos.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great build video!
I just picked up the AMT Alaskan Hauler kit and since it shares a lot of similarities with this one, I'm finding watching you build this truck to be super helpful in building the Alaskan Hauler.
Thinking spring! Great build, fresh concrete and grill'in. The thaw is on the way for us Skawnnees!
Can't wait!
Absolutely beautiful build. Looks sharp with the Kenworth chassis which most are Mack chassis. Love the block decals on the mixer body. When I built older AMT model trucks had lots of alignment problems.
Thanks a bunch!
Still have my original issue from the 70's.
Awesome review and build. Like the details on the dash. Thanks for sharing Chris.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing I cannot wait to get this kit. Love the chrome as I could see you Chris. Hello from Australia.
Thanks for watching!
I love it! Awesome job you did, like always. Thankyou
Another awesome review and build ! Thanks a bunch for doing this ! I'm sold, gotta get one now 😇👍🏼
Hope you enjoy it!
Great build. Ordered mine yesterday!
Hope you enjoy it!
Hobbies aren't perfect, what makes something "perfect" is you, you make "your" perfect. Of course plastics may not fit together without any hiccups, but that is what makes it challenging
Thanks for coming along!
Stunning build and presentation Chris! Very realistic finish, well done sir👍!
Thank you kindly!
Still have the Challenger repair manual. Of course, the ones we worked on had chain drive and were on Peterbuilt chassis. Need to get that kit.
Very realistic, Chris-great job!!
Thank you very much!
Awesome build, Chris! I was a little kid when this originally came out (I'm assuming so...born in '73, LOL) so I have no memories of it, but having driven a concrete/mixer of this type (was a Mack Model, but similar setup/bowl/etc) for a couple years after my long haul days, as soon as I saw it Coming Soon on Model Roundup I KNEW I was gonna want one. Thanks for building this one so soon after release, really enjoyed it, my friend. Happy Sunday and see you on the next review/build/video! 😊✌
Right on! Thanks for coming along!
Awesome work as always.
Done so right .
4 guys on my site want one each , only problem is that they want them built .
SOOOO KOOOOOLLLL .
Your finish is awesome.
Thanks 👍
Great build Chris as always, mine is on the UPS truck headed my way. I'm so happy you did a build and not just a review. Great idea on it being a working display. It seems like every AMT kit I build has at least one fit issue, but that's what makes it a challenge. I'm all excited for the Superliner to come out, can you build that one too? I get so pumped up watching you, that I jump into a new kit after watching your videos. Enjoy every build you do your a very positive good natured person, thank you Sir for all the tips and ideas. Stay healthy my friend.
Thanks for coming along!
That turned out great, Chris. I can’t wait to get mine so I can leave it in the box. Looking forward to seeing you build the Wonder Bread truck, too.
Right on!
Amazing weathering on the Challenger Mixer build! I just got mine in definitely looking forward to building it. Currently finishing up the Tyrone Malone Hideout transporter truck then next the Bandag Bandit!
Hope you enjoy it!
Awesome build mate, never seen this kit before, plenty of bling! You do such an amazing job with realistic detail and dirt. Keep up the good work, stay safe and well 👍😎🇦🇺

Thanks for coming along!
Thanks for the extra time on decals.
Any time!
If you love big trucks this one is a nice one to build. Years back I was asked to build some snow plows and one was a converted Semi Tractor by a friend of mine . I am going to tackle this one. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for coming along!
Está magnífico It's magnificent.
Dude that’s freaking awesome! Great job friend!
Thank you! Cheers!
This is going to be epic !
Thanks for coming along!
I was at Walmart yesterday and saw this kit on the shelf. Came home and looked up this video and watched it again. Went back to Walmart earlier today and now their shelf is empty.
And I am an armor modeler.
Nice I like it you do it the way I would I'm 72 I do it my way Just have Fun Modeling🙏
That looks awesome, great job!
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice build, been waiting for this one! Just picked up three of these kits at the LHS cause they won't last long. For the cab mounts on the AMT w900 kits, I always sand the tabs off of the bottom of the rear cab mount and glue it to the cab first. Also file the locator pins off of the front cab mounts that line up with holes in bottom of interior tub, and then you can move the cab forward as needed to line up with the hood once it's installed.
Good tip!
I appreciate your truck builds, very nice!
Why anyone would dislike?!
Trolls gonna troll. Ignore and keep having fun.
Looks fantastic, man! I enjoy your channel, and will be getting one of these soon.
Awesome, thank you!
Cool paint scheme and weathering - nice MIX
Many thanks!
I sooo have to get one of these! Possibly two! Great build of it!!

Nice Build. I just received yesterday in the mail form Autoworld. I have the truck from 1972. AMT did change the rear suspension to the Hendrickson walking beam. Have fun

Give me about a week and i will post my build of this model...

Like from Kazahstan 🇰🇿👍
Thanks for the cool videos✌️💥
Glad you like them!
Great job my friend!
Thank you! Cheers!
Started watching your videos in may on a corona vacation and you got me back into building models again. But at 45 I realize I shake quite a bit more than when I was 12 lol
Right? Takes a while to calm the hands down but they do.
Great video mate, love your builds👍👍
Awesome, thank you!
One word says it all wow ......
Thanks for coming along!
Chris, another home run. I really like your take on the truck, and this is coming from someone who is in the concrete industry. This is definitely a pre 1990 era model, as there is no crow's nest on top of the mixer by the loading chute. Weathering is great. I will be getting one and comparing it to the International Paystar 5000.
Thanks for coming along!
@@hpiguy thanks for driving!
My dude you make it look easy
Thanks for coming along!
great bild! i ordered mine today at my shop
Hope you enjoy it!
Looks great.

Amazing looking build
Glad you think so!

Chris this is one of the holy grail kits so I got 2 of them and may get 2 more, I hope some of the after market folks out there do up some other decals for this kit Red E Mix is what I remember as a child the cab hood never meets up perfect (too much opening and closing for cleaning ) Really surprised how clean the parts are with no flash thanks for sharing
Thanks for coming along!
She's a REAL Money-Maker Indeed Chris. Definitely Worth the Time Invested in Doing it. Thanks For Sharing Your Fun n God Bless All.
Thanks for watching!
You're Very Welcome & Thanks For ALL You Do.🤗🤗🤗🤗
Behold indeed.
Cool build! Kinda looks like a hot rod in that orange color 👌👌👌👌🤘
Thanks!
Thanks for the great review.
My pleasure!
That looks really good man nice details I built a paystar mixer and used real oil and Sac Crete looks great.
Cool, thanks!
Chirs i love that truck bud that a kick butt truck
Thanks for coming along!
Your making me buy more kits lol
Ha! enjoy!
How awesome would it be if you built a diorama of a construction site with all the construction vehicles you have built in the past
Very cool 😎
Thanks!
Got two of these this week very cool too see it back Chris
Thanks for coming along!
Good vid Chris, I pick mine up this weekend!!!!! 👍👍👍

Got the kit this week and can't wait to start it Thanks for your video build it's giving me some new ideas. Now I just need to finish the autocar dump truck first 🤔 need more time in the day 😂😂😂
Glad I could help!
I remember you using tile grout to simulate debris and dirt build up, could you suggest a couple of colors that might be useful to represent concrete?
@@carlbethard6714 Whites and greys, just like the real stuff.
Awesome job on that. You're braver than I that one would be a hair puller for me lol
You can do it!
Very nice model!
Thank you very much!
I couldn’t wait for you to build this. My family was in the construction business for many years and when I was younger I remember seeing these lined up on job sites.I’ve just built model cars but this is a must build for me. Thanks for showing the way. As always I appreciate your great work. Stay safe!
Very cool!
Hi Dj Meeple my uncle used to driver a cement mixer Truck back in the towards end of 1970's
Those aren't smokers glass, we called them air conditioning ! lol
Great build once again Chris . Mine coning soon.
Thanks for coming along!
Nice build Chris, am waiting for the Brian James trailer, still looking for a flat bed tow truck,
Coming soon!
Really cool build as always, I am big fan of your whole outlook on building a model, build it like ya want. I have to ask, how do you clean up your clamp posts and swivel mount stuff? Maybe you could do a short video on that kind of thing and how to clean up the spray booth, that would be cool and helpful to modelers. Thanks, and keep up the good work.
I've never cleaned them,
Eventually the thick layer just cracks and falls off when I'm adjusting them.
Sometimes it's 1/8th inch thick. Pretty cool to think back on all those build ups.
I scrape the booth now and then but just to remove loose pieces. The filter is replaced once a month, which is about 6-8 kits or so.
@@hpiguy cool, thanks, I always wondered how you cleaned up after builds.
I think she looks cool Chris, I like the looks of a working truck, instead of a shelf queen or whatever. Or a model show queen. I ain’t never going to any model show so I build mine my way, “I did it my way “! lol! Have a good one bud! ✌🏻
Right on!
@@hpiguy - Hahahahaha, yes indeedy! 🤘👍👍✌🏻
Good job on the cement mixer.I want to buy the truck.but there would be no time for me to build it.but with my going to dialias.there's les time to build it.good job.
Well at least you can enjoy the builds on here for now. Take care!
Nice build as always .I'm thinking about buying this kit and taking the mixer assy and mounting it on a Autocar truck .
Go for it!
Hey Chris! I agree with you about keeping things simple(r) - while "working" features seem great just too much to eventually fall apart, disintegrate or disappear! Also appreciate your "keep it basic" approach to "work trucks" whether pickups or big rigs.
Thanks Kevin!
The old Hendrickson walking beam suspension
I was looking forward to this from the time you showed it in the upcoming kits. Looks fantastic with just the right amount of weathering. Would be interesting to put it in a diorama with the other AMT construction equipment.
You and me both!
This looks great. The weathering is top notch as usual. Sort of off topic, but whenever I see a cement mixer, I think of the 1979 Andy Griffith show Salvage 1 and the ship Vulture. Google it.
LOL
Thanks for coming along!
