I’ve rewatched each episode at least 3 or 4 times because I like to have them playing in the background if I’m home by myself, it especially gets me motivated to do at home decluttering, cleaning painting and home improvement projects…. If they sold it as a box set I’d buy it just in case something happens to youtube I would still have all the episodes as back up lol…. There’s no other channel like it, one of a kind! 💕
Has everyone that walks through the doors of La landes got super powers, they can sing, cook, paint, draw, upholster, do carpentry, play a instrument, do hair & make up, flower arranging the talents are never ending. You are so lucky to know such a array of wonderful people. Xxxx😍❤️🇬🇧
@backyardpainter Nobody knows the depths of feeling and relationships here. We can't guess. But you cannot invent or fake her laugh. And the joy that permeates this blog is founded on the kinds of things we can all do every day. There is "reality TV" genre that includes and/or accepts greed, adultery, treachery and these people become icons to some of the viewers. Hard to pull away from their "adventures." So backyardpainter, move along. You don't have to believe in it. It's too gentle so it must not be real, right?
The cello music gives me goose bumps and brings tears to my eyes. GORGEOUS! What a treat to be able to experience that.

The casein paint (milk paint) was the go to paint in the 18th century for walls and furniture. It's tough stuff, much harder to remove than oil, much less acrylic. Your accent pink reminds me of what my grandmother called "ashes of roses" - the ultimate name for a colour, I think.
Great name - though I’ve always been entertained by Farrow & Ball’s ‘Elephant’s Breath’ - don’t think I’d want to live in the breath of an elephant, though 🐘
The Chateau Diaries the colour name , ashes of roses , was a colour referred to in the mini series The Thorn birds , I think it was a made up name , as I have never come across it reality . In the series , the colour was a memory trigger for the matriarch of the family . The story is set in Australia and based on a novel by Colleen McCullough . It starred Barbara Stanwyck and Richard Chamberlain .
@@brianbaron6847 "Ashes of Roses" was the title of at least two 19th century poems & an 1892 song. It was used as the name of a colour at least as early as 1898. This info comes from a few minutes Googling. The phrase is definitely not a product of Ms. McCullough's imagination.

I would also add that back in the ‘70 s one of the most popular colours for nail polish was called Windsor Rose , it was a dusty rose pink almost exactly the colour you are putting on the door . That was back at the beginning of my career in the beauty business .

set of dinnerware in this pattern and she always sets her table with her mom's china at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. I love your style. Don't ever change.

I personally love the white left on the door. It really gives it more dimension and brightness. I Don’t think you even needed the darker pink color. How pretty!

Stephanie if I may say , when you hold your paint brush hold it at the base with your fingers and thumb. You will find that you have more control and your hand will not tire. Lots of Love.

I’ve been painting too this week, we have our first holiday guests today ! I love Liberon paint .I’ve been using gustave gris 111. It is lovely pearly slate grey. It covered my thickly varnished dark brown 18 th century doors like a dream and the tongue and groove we got from an old village hall in England , now in the hallway of our maison de maitre. Love that pink. Also if buying wallpaper from Wallpaper direct, ask for Neal. I phoned them this week and he was soooo helpful, patiently looking “for a floral trailing pattern “that was in stock and could be shipped to France express within the hour.
I’ve just looked it up and it’s a beautiful colour. And it’s good to hear that it even goes on well over old, varnished doors! I might use it elsewhere in the chateau.
I’ve never bought wallpaper online - I can’t believe you managed to get hold of it so quickly! I’ll definitely bear that in mind.

Those baths are supposed to be countersunk into the floor so that the bottom of the bath is on the same level as the floor of the bathroom. I had a huge old apartment in Nimes that had a bath like that and the system is extremely comfortable to get into and out off ! In my flat the toilet was in the turret that was off the bathroom so if I was in my bath and anyone needed the loo they had to avert their eyes and pass in front of me, there was no locks on the doors and we always had many visitors ! Bubbles are the way to go ! Now when I get naked I double lock the door, wouldn't like to shock anyone !

The lighter pink on your wall is a cool blue and the slightly darker pink is a warm pink. Cool it down a bit more and it will look planned.

I really love the ashes of roses colour of the Liberon paint. It's the colour of my new bathroom towels and a couple of nail polishes. I've decided it's my signature colour!! Feminine without being girly. Xxx

I love the pink you eventually chose. FYI Norwegians are more crazy about the 17th of May than about - let's say - the football WC. Consequently there are celebratory events all over the world; both official and private events. And every Norwegian living like Marie does will OF COURSE make a celebration for friends and housemates. HURRA FOR 17. MAI! :-D
I think she may have made it a new tradition at Lalande now! Especially now that we’ve finally learnt the anthem 😂 I love the pink too, it seems to change the light in the room. The first pink I tried was just too ‘modern’
@@TheChateauDiaries "Too modern" makes sense: The Norwegian term for the colour you've chosen is "gammelrosa" which means "old pink." (Btw the paintbox label is so elegantly designed it took me a couple of minutes to realize that no, no it's not a closeup of a wine bottle. :-D )

A tip for your garden..once you plant... AnD before you Mitch add garden fabric then multch.. This will keep weeds out.. You can re-use the garden fabric every year.. You just cut a hole in the place the plants are or where they will come up.. You can add fabric or lay the fabric back over on itself as plants grow. Water goes through the fabric and allows air to circulate. This cuts down on weeds by 75% saves time and let's you redirect your time to other things.👍😃🌻 👵

My bedroom was originally blue when we bought the château. It was lined in a blue and white cotton fabric which had become very dirty from soot over the years. When I removed it to clean it, a lot disintegrated so I couldn’t put it back. Instead, I used it to make the kitchen curtains 💙

i love that song , la vie en rose , life in the pink , good way to live if you are not a damn Spencer by descent and there for prone to depression, even Winston Spencer Churchill suffered depression , they were actually Spencers not Churchill, churchhill was his great grandmothers surname and because they were a big family they kept the name

As a Norwegian it is slightly absurd watching a group of guests at Laland singing "Ja, vi elsker dette landet" as if that's the most normal thing to do.
