It's the Vlogmas time of year again - CHRISTMAS AT THE CHATEAU has begun! Happy Advent!
Follow all of us as we get the chateau ready for a spectacular French Christmas.
Each day will be filled with decorating, cooking, gift buying, carol singing and discovering ancient Christmas traditions from around the world.
I know that Steph doesn't plan to say anything further about her and Philip's relationship, but knowing makes such difference so that when we see things like Steph decorating her bedroom tree with his families ornaments the context is clear and it is so sweet!!
@@lfking9778 Ooh then you have an entire saga to watch over the holidays to catch up a bit about the whole life at Lalande, who’s there, why, and how they came to be there in the first place! It’s a bit like starting to watch season six of a favorite series, you should pair the advent vloggs with a few ”episodes” from at least 1,5 years ago, a year ago, and this summer, or see the others in order every free afternoon you get! Since it’s not a scripted reality show but just how things have unfolded and people come together it’s hard to give a fast run down. But perhaps someone will try for you?

@@lfking9778 just start from the first video. That's how I start. Because people come and go in La Lande. Lovely people. And yes, it's a lot of people. Every episode is fun, entertaining, lovely, and sometimes can be very insightful. I love this channel.
@@lfking9778 briefly, Stephanie bought the chateau with a friend, 15 years ago, I think. Much has been done to restore the chateau, but much more remains to be done, as well as maintaining it. Phillip came to the chateau about a year ago, I think. He is her boyfriend, although I don't know if he was her boyfriend when he came there or became her boyfriend after he got there. He came to help her with the videos, I believe. They intended to keep their relationship secret, but it was revealed accidentally by a TV show that they were on. Philip also has his own CZcams channel. Her cousin, holding the tray of dessert cups, came to live there a few months ago. He is a skilled carpenter. Dan, who was cleaning off someone's camera lens is the gardener, and also has his own CZcams channel. Steve, who is digitizing some of Stephanie's father's art was a volunteer at LaLande, along with his wife. Or perhaps they were just guests. I can't remember for sure. However, they have now purchased their own chateau. Other than her aunt and uncle, the others are either guests or volunteers. The young woman who did so much of the cooking, is a volunteer. They get volunteers there from all over the world to help with renovating the chateau, working in the garden, cooking, organizing things, etc. Something else you might find useful is that thanks to the success of Stephanie's CZcams channels and her patreon account, she is receiving quite a lot of money, enough to do work on restoring the chateau much more quickly than would have been possible, otherwise. She did not start the CZcams channel really to make money, or at least she never thought she would make very much money with it. She has been very transparent about the money that she makes. She does not hide anything. She has another CZcams channel called "Caddeaux (I think I spelled that right) at the Chateau", where they open gifts sent to the chateau. The money raised from these videos, I believe is donated to charity. I hope that helps you a bit. Stephanie, I apologize if I got any of this wrong, please feel free to correct me.

Agreed 100%. I thought things were a bit weird when they went to Barbados and the States. It didn't really seem like a trip for 2 co-workers. Now that we know they were together back then, those trips make a lot more sense. And now that they are being honest and open, she and Philip seem a lot more happy in the vlogs. In fact Stephanie looks like she's glowing all the time and Philip is a little bit more forward. I like it.
With all the gloomy news around us right now these Advent vlogs are like a daily happiness transfusion. I may be watching them all over again in January!
I'm thankful that the years you spent struggling, making do, then getting by, and constantly working towards your vision have come true. And that Nick and Michael also get to enjoy the rewards of their investment of time, money, and believing in and supporting you to bring it about is amazing. Everything about LaLande that is flourishing is well deserved and worked long and hard for. You have amazing friends, family, volunteers, guests that enrich your home and life. Absolutely. Stephanie has worked, often alone, in freezing conditions, for years, making huge and stunning curtains, upholstery, bashing down walls and, goodness knows what else, to make her dream come true for her friends, family and guests.She so deserves her success, nothing was on a plate, but her dedication and vision never wavered. It is wonderful, now over these last couple of years, she has a super volunteer team and Nattie sharing the project to continue the preservation and maintenance of La Lande. She's so generous with her videos, travel and information on historical places she and Philip visit etc. And of course her Patrons are fabulous. Congratulations to you all at La Lande! The chocolate squares Sarah made are called nanaimo bars, and so delicious. My favourite when I lived in Canada ☺️

When we were children in the UK, we had a small tree and snow babies in a snowy scenery on the dresser and fairy lights burning in a bowl. The joy of Christmas. 😁❤🌹🌺

What I did to decorate my bedroom is string some Christmas lights along the headboard of my bed, it creates a magical feeling to the space in the night. It makes me understand why so many people went through that craze of string lights in the interior space outside the holidays.

I always roll my Christmas light strands in a ball(like a ball of yarn). No tangles and easy to string the tree, just unwrap the ball as you go!

Not only is it cute and feminine (it's a mini purse!) and looks nice but it shows that you pay attention to the things your love likes closely enough to recognize what one of her favorites is and you hunted it down. When I saw you had a new video out, and seeing the subject matter, I quickly ran to make myself a cocktail. Having finished it while you decorated your bedroom and went down to the cocktail party, I paused the video and ran to make another! But Stephanie, I still have cocktail left - you can't end the video here..... I was having such a grand time at the party - it was like seeing dear friends!

I know from experience...fresh turkeys don't fair well, if they wait too long ..even refrigerated! I opened a very stinky, black bird one year..it was so traumatizing, I bought 2 turkeys for years afterwards because I was worried it would happen, again! 🤣

Aumery looks just like his beautiful mother. What a lovely party of wonderful people! Community is everything. I Love that Lalande is a community we can be a part of even from afar. I Received my beautiful Countess Christmas card which i love as I grew up with peacocks around. Unfotunlately the post person folded it to fit in my mailbox, darn it!

On a normal day, I get to watch the C D's at breakfast, today a friend arrived early and then I had to go and pick up my new glasses, so I can see clearly now.... and watched at dinner. Definitely worth the wait. Wonderful to see Steve bring Derek's art to life and all the Lalanders' enjoying the cocktail the party. Doesn't every lady's boudoir need a Christmas tree... especially with a Chanel handbag decoration! Nice touch Philip.🎄🎄🦘
I am catching up on the vlogs after being so busy throughout December and loving every minute of them. So wonderful to see the joy with everyone. I have a tip for not getting tangled lights: when I put mine away, I wrapped them round a cardboard tube (the inside of a kitchen paper roll is great) and then pushed the plug into the end. All should stay tangle free. Happy new year to all of you and thank you for sharing this special time.
