- In this video, I show you what you get in the box with the Kwikset Halo WiFi Touchscreen Smart Lock, then I walk through the entire installation process, and finally I demo how the lock and the software work. Thanks to the use of WiFi, this lock doesn't require any other Smart Home hubs to work, unlike all previous Smart Locks.

Good video. Made installation a snap. I was lucky.. everything matched up to the old hardware. Great little unit so far.
Thank you! nice and easy with your explanation.

Thank you for this, saved me a lot of headache!!!
Great to hear!
It does the job. Excellent product.
Thank you Brother, that was so easy!
Very easy installation following your instructions thank you.
You're welcome!
I installed mine today. Everything okay except the turnpiece is not straight up vertical 90 degrees when locked. The same to yours in video. Any idea to fix?
Thanks but my arrows didn't line up on the wiring and I have a heck of a time trying to get it to fit in there and still be able to install the mechanism
nice and easy install, thanks
Can you add the part number for the alternative latch (non chiseled)?
So if someone hacks into your phone or the Kwikset app, you're screwed???
Great video! I'm considering getting one of these. Question: You mentioned setting up an account from which you can change your passcode, etc, etc. Does setting up an account cost anything? For that matter, aside from the cost of the device, itself, are there other costs or other things required for this to work via my iPhone and wi-fi? (i.e. Subscription fee? Hub?)
No costs, no subscriptions, just the initial price of the Kwikset Halo, which is currently $199: amzn.to/2XXIDWn
What phillips tool were you using on the drill. I really liked that specific one.
That's a question I wasn't expecting! I'm using a Milwaukee Shockwave Impact Bit. It's this one: amzn.to/3bvmjGu. You have to buy it in bulk like that SKU or you can buy it in a bit kit like this one: amzn.to/3ctzpFG

Those are my go to as well, they just don't snap, even when using the impact setting on my gun running long screws right into hard ash without a pilot hole drilled beforehand.😮
At 3:44 I see your light switch on the wall. Just getting into home automation myself, I have to ask what is controlled by the left switch/display? Thanks.
Hey there, Pops Outdoors! That actually isn't a connected switch, it's this relatively-simple light timer from Honeywell: amzn.to/315EZv7. This light controls the outdoor lights. Actually really cool device that turns lights on at dusk and turns them off whenever you want, like midnight. If you just want an easy solution for having lights turn on and off at night, this is it!
Thank you man
Thanks for the review. Time for some weatherstripping around your door though.
For sure, actually added that recently!
how do i set the app up on my computer
how do you discount mounting plate
Nice end-to-end video. I was hoping for the peeling of the protective film, but... ;)
Funny thing is it ripped apart when I pulled it off - did not look good on video!
Will it operate just off Bluetooth, until i get my Wi-Fi installed?
I believe so, but the range is extremely limited.
Great video. I’m having trouble tucking in wire without it creating a drag on latch. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you in advance
I know what you mean. I can't remember exactly how I got it to fit, but it took a few tries. I do know it works. The wires shouldn't be much of a drag unless they are actually stuck in the latch. There's far more drag in the mechanism itself, which is part of how a lock works!
I thought the same thing, however after I dropped the batteries in it did its thing and there was no drag
Can multiple users in the household set up the app and allow access, create coads etc? Is there a landlord/master code option?
Yes, although I did not see this in the directions at all:
- touch the menu top left
- now at top you will see Homes and to the right of that Manage
- then below Manage Home Users
- then a Home with people + icon top right
- create and invite new users and decide if they will have Admin status or just Member status
- they will have to download app and create account
As the Owner/Admin of your lock, you can create guest codes. It handles 250 codes, I believe.
Why is this lock so loud or is it just me? I have owned one other deadbolt and I don’t recall it being this loud.
Very loud
I’m having an issue with the lock jamming. It’s worked fine until now. The jam is not relative to the strike plate, as it jams when the door is open freely. Any ideas on how to fix it?
I recently set up another kwikset lock and had this problem. But it was due to not fitting a half inch bore properly. If it's been working for you in this door up until now, that's prob not it, but I'd recommend uninstalling and checking that the lock can mechanism isn't hitting the interior of the door, or that a power cable hasn't moved and jammed the mechanism.
Check the battery level. It usually jams when the batteries are about to go. I am starting not like this product to honest
@@mari13679can you give me some of the cons your having with this lock please? I just bought one today and I'd rather return it now if it's going to be a headache while I have all of the packaging still because even on sale it was an expensive purchase, I think I got it on Clearance for $165.00😮
you skipped over the big problem....tuck away cable?? the is no room and it blocks the bottom slot that the bottom of the outside cover slides into .. who designed this system??
Once I put the battery in it never cycles. Do you know why?
Did you put the pack in backwards?
Thx
Great
How do i set a code without a phone??
My lock the screw wouldn't go all the way in one hole
Auto lock feature -can't turn it on. It starts to sync then it's off again. It says internet connection....
My internet is fine. Everything works and it locks and unlocks from my phone. Why can't autolock come on
You have to connect with Bluetooth to adjust this and it can be temperamental.
Anyone set this model up on the app from the philippines?
What about the re-key feature

How to reverse? My door opens in different way
All door locks will work on doors mounted in either direction.
Bluetooth connection is simple. You totally skipped over the Wi-Fi connecting. Why?
Yup I said the same thing what an idiot!
How long does the battery last?
About 3 months.
@@TheTechBuyersGuru Curious to know if you are using the Auto Lock and/or the LED Status in the settings. Wondering what effect these have on battery life. Another smart lock from Wyze encouraged Auto Lock to lengthen battery life, because that lock would be constantly sensing lock status if unlocked. Not sure if this is similar.
Is this compatible with Vivint?
While Vivint uses Kwikset locks, I really couldn't tell you if they've enabled support for the Halo WiFi. You'd have to call Vivint.
Vivint is lost also and don't know
No :( this lock was on my new home build but vivint said this particular kwikset lock doesn't have z wave so this kwikset isn't compatible with Vivint. I still am using it on my back door instead now just through the kwikset app.
I've tried this multiple times and i can't get the lock to not jam.
I had this issue after install. If you go into the app and select 'Help/FAQ' section --> Support Center --> Halo Keypad --> Cylinder and Latch Issue --> and select the question, 'My smart lock is giving me a jam error?', you'll find the fix.
'To solve any jam issues with your Halo, Halo Touch or Aura smart lock... 1. Make sure you're getting the jam error with the door open. If it only happens while closed, the strike frame your door frame may not be deep enough. 2. Perform Manual Door Handling Steps: Remove the front cover. Pull your battery pack out. Press and HOLD the center Program button while dropping the battery pack back in. Release the center Program button after 3 seconds. The status LED will flash red and green. After they flash, press the same center Program button once more. The latch bolt will now extend and retract while 'learning' the orientation of your specific door. At the end of this process, the LED will flash green if the operation is successful or red if it is unsuccessful."
Mine felt jammed even when using the key or the inside knob. It would close, but I was having to twist very hard and there was a loud click each time. I knew it wasn't going to do it via smartphone but tried and it did fail as expected. I performed the above and fixed it completely. It was smooth as could be after that. I know you either fixed yours by now or took it back, but maybe this helps someone else.
What does button "B" do ???
If you have a z-wave home controller, you can add the lock to that network - the A button to add the lock to the z-wave mesh and the B to remove it.
You skipped the most important part where you put the back on the door that’s the hardest part of the install
Literally the easiest part. The front is what sucks it up to the door. If you use the ring, just put that on first and then make sure the back sucks up to the door over it.
No fingerprint unlock
I bought 3 of them for my Airbnbs and not impressed at all. Batteries drain very fast, the lock goes offline many times causing inconvenience to guests, and the worse was on New Years Eve when the software didn't update the dates to 2023 and my guests were locked out of their homes. I don't recommend it, as it is more of a hassle so far.
Thanks, was wondering I have so much trouble with it. It's a very slow lock and unlock.
Seems like the locked should be Green, not red. Green meaning good because you want it locked the majority of the time. Unlocked should be red. Kwikset seems to have it backwards.
OK Karen, cool😂
He even have problems in the video lol
Unboxing is just user error, don’t rely on 4 batteries to get into your home. Always keep your keys on you.
This thing sucks, I've had nothing but issues with mine
On second thought, what a piece of junk I'm returning.
This is the worst lock! Touch won’t work at all. Only thing you will be able to operate is using your phone. Total waste of 220$
Too bad it’s a piece of fucking shit and just jams after a month of owning it
Don't buy this it's a horrible product. I've had it for one month and I've had to uninstall and reinstall the app at least 5 times. Terrible.
