    Just played with my new summit pro LD shaft. Played about 4 hours with it and it felt great and shot great once I refined the tip to my preference. I haven’t shot on a 9’ table yet with it but hope to soon. Also I got the shaft from this site and got it a day early during post covid nonsense. Had questions asked supplier here he was very helpful, nice, great service, and great product. Will update once I play on a 9’ table which should be in the next 2-4 weeks. Highly recommend

    I have had the Summit LD for about two months and have played around a hundred games since, I would say, and its an impressive cue. It plays like a high end cue as I have played with a Katana, Z3 and Mcdermott. I would 100% recommend this cue over the HXT or any other lower end cues. You will definitely feel the difference and comparison.

    Good topic. A lot of people do not understand deflection. That was a very effective demonstration of how to determine how much cue ball deflection there is in a players particular shaft. As for the gentleman that commented about manufacturer's pivot point... You are correct. But it is still possible to determine deflection in the shaft by using the demonstration shown in this video. I have a Jacoby hybrid edge ultra 140 splice 11.75 mm shaft with Kamui soft. Brandon Jacoby told me that my optimal pivot point was 13 inches. But I still play with the bridge length that is most comfortable for me. I'm not sure what the length is but it doesn't matter because I performed the exercise shown here and figured out my cue ball deflection from there.

    To get apparent ZERO deflection (regardless of the manufactures stated claim of x% low deflection shaft) the cue must be bridged exactly at it's pivot point location. For some low deflection cues, this bridge location is >14 inches from the tip, and this can actually make them deflect more (opposite of what you would expect) in practice than a standard shaft. For example - If you naturally bridge at about 9.5" (the average pivot point location of a standard deflection shaft), your "low" deflection shaft with it's 14" pivot point location will shoot poorly due to less effective natural cancellation of any unintentional back-hand english/off center cueball hits. In the test demo above, you are bridging with the rail, and that distance (can't tell from vid) may be a lot longer than if you were to just shoot from a normal bridge hand on the felt. The key to good results with deflection cancellation (for all shafts) is to first determine the pivot point location for the shaft, and then place your bridge so that it will be right at that distance.

I'm thinking of trying a Summit because its easy on the pocket and looks like it might play just as good in comparison to some quality cue shafts. Thoughts.....Anyone????

    You were hitting with right hand English but the cue ball hit the right side of the 3 ball, you would expect it to deflect to the left. 4:16 time in the video this occurred and it happened more than that one time.

    You do know that billiards is played on a table with no pockets .?

    • @LearnBilliards
      @LearnBilliards  Před 4 lety +8

      Billiards, any of various games played on a rectangular table with a designated number of small balls and a long stick called a cue. The table and the cushioned rail bordering the table are topped with a feltlike tight-fitting cloth. Carom, or French, billiards is played with three balls on a table that has no pockets. The other principal games are played on tables that have six pockets, one at each corner and one in each of the long sides; these games include English billiards, played with three balls; snooker, played with 21 balls and a cue ball; and pocket billiards, or pool, played with 15 balls and a cue ball. There are numerous varieties of each game-particularly of carom and pocket billiards.
