I love how open-minded to translated books from other countries he is. It‘s always exciting to watch him talk about books that I read in my native language. I love Kyung Sook Sin very much too. She has the power to lead her story.
@@Namerealname really? That sounds so weird, especially being from country where half if not more of the market is translated 😁, thanks, I'll check out the video

I literally just made a list of 30 books Jack recommended from last year and I can’t wait to buy them all and see if I find a new favorite read 😊 can’t wait to hear the reviews of these!
Seeing Jack upload a video is like being a party which is so boring until you see your friend walk and being excited to see them like "ayyy jack is here"
I'm always looking for more Korean authors to read! I'm moving to South Korea in less than a month (omg) and am hoping to one day be able to reread the original non translated versions from all the authors I've read. Currently slogging my way through a middle grade fiction book one chapter at a time but I'm getting there.
@@chelsey8737 I've been learning for about 2ish yrs and it's def not easy but it's also not as hard as you maybe think? I started w picture books, then moved on to books that had English or Korean translations and read both simultaneously, now I can mostly muddle my way through and nothing is as rewarding as reading a full paragraph w/out consulting a dictionary. I'd really recommend using programs like LWT (learning with text, has built in vocab tests but awkward to install) or FLTR (foreign language text reader, easier to install but not as good) to anyone who wants to try it. Best of luck w yr language learning journey!
Omg same I'm currently reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in Korean. 재미있게 보세요! Also mat I ask you how/why you're moving to Korea? I'm only 15 now but I want to live in Korea sometime in the future (I'm half Korean so I feel like it'd be nice to explore my culture more than just 2 weeks per year)
Awesome!! Can't wait to get stuck into some of your recommendations Jack! I'm reading A Little Life at the moment and it is everything I thought it would be!
i cant wait for your content from korea im so excited for you!! some korean literature i recommend that i think you haven't read: untold night and day by bae suah, the age of doubt by pak kyongni, the hen who dreamed she could fly by sunmi hwang!

If you’re interested in Korean lit, you need to read the graphic novel Grass!! It’s recently translated and absolutely incredible artwork and story. I read it for a comparative literature in translation course and it blew my mind. :)))

I’ve never been here so quick!
We are due for some of your book reviews!
yay! it's you💖
I feel like I don’t even need to read these books because the blurbs are so descriptive.
‘You Are a Global Citizen’ is a fun read that, if you read it as intended, will reveal how your external influences shape how you truly see the world.
I wish i could travel as much as you 😫
I have 3 books since I start of the year 🥳
I am currently reading calm the fu*k down by Sarah Knight lol :)
Kyung Sook Shin is also the author of Violets, which I think you’ve already read!

You've been buying a lot of books i've noticed. Are you okay
Hi

I blame him for my reading obsession 🧍♂️🤌
