Those chips can actually sound quite good. The imperfections give that old school analog delay vibe.

I love playing with the pt2399's, stacking them is fun too. I've designed a few pedals using them.

Got my boards today. Black. Going to use the box they came in as the case.
The audio effects in the beginning reminds me of Sigue Sigue Sputnik. Best known for Love Missile F1-11 and p*ssing off the British music press in the 80s.

Very cool, thanks for the detailed explanation of some things, I have been using this chip for a few years now but didn't realize many of the things you went over! 😄

there’s also another chip I forget the part number but I think it might be pin compatible so I ordered those to experiment with as well.

You know, I have a drawer with some of these in it, really need to fiddle with them.

i’m going to be trying to make other modulation things like chorus with it, I wonder if it’s possible to cascade a couple put them in series or parallel and do different delay patterns.

@@GadgetReboot Cool stuff! A song that comes to mind with heavy echo effects in the vocals is Cake's "Comfort Eagle":

That would be great for tormenting telemarketers or phone scammers.

answering the phone and looping their voice back to them infinitely would be traumatizing.

use a max7401 for the filter for much better quality, the pt2399 sounds horrible its for kids toys

You might be shocked at the number of builders out there that make this chip sound VERY high quality.

@HazeAnderson I saw some schematic reviews of a few pedals using it so now I have a reference point to compare and try some new things
