There is a substantial difference between fado performers and any other performer in the world: they don't sing to you, they tell you. Their expressions, their voice inflections, the way they address the audience, involve you in the song in an unusual and magical way. I am Spanish and I adore Portugal. Whenever I go to Lisbon I visit many of those pubs in the Bairro Alto where there is always a guitar and one or two lutes waiting for any client to sing a fado if they want. It is for me an almost mystical experience. Fado is incomprehensibly unknown throughout the world, when in reality it deserves a place of honor in music.
@taranvainas, very well said. My great grandparents were Portuguese and I used to have Portuguese Nationality, so I feel partially Portuguese
First I thought you were Portuguese!
"they don't sing to you, they tell you." This is perfect!
I don't know why this song just brought me to tears, haunting and soul shaking sounds of the guitar and Mariza's beautiful voice.
It's because fado feeds your soul and spirit.
Mariza is a legend she has 7 albums to dive into and they are great, good review.
I have seen her three times in concert and they are more memorable to me than anyone else. Watch “Quem Me Dera” and “Melhor De Mim” and “Barco Negro” and “Feira de Castro” …and pretty much everything else of hers😊
As a portuguese person, I LOVE FADO... my mum used to sing all the time, the songs of Amália Rodrigues, who took Fado around the World. She is the muse of Fado.
i love been latin ,RUMANIA,MEXICO,PORTUGAL,ITALIA,ESPANA,FRANCIA AND OTHER COUNTRYS WE FEEL THE SAME FEELING
I am so lucky because I' m portuguese. ❤️🇵🇹
I am so lucky to have been at a Mariza concert in Budapest some years ago. She is not just a magnificant singer, she also has a lot of humor when she talks between the songs. I would like to suggest you to listen to Mariza - Gente Da Minha Terra ao vivo em Lisboa, it is beautiful.
Gente Da Minha Terra ao vivo em Lisboa is definitely the song to listen to as a first contact with Mariza
Fado is amazing. So emotional. I’m in tears. More Fado please. Great reaction guys. ❤
Great review video! You had me in tears when you said our language is so beautiful. Thank you.
I love seeing Foreigners react to Fado. Its the prove that music is universal. You dont need to understand portuguses to feel the songs.
Mariza uma diva 🙏👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🇵🇹🇵🇹
The voice, yes, and the portuguese guitar!!!
I am Portuguese so I can understand the lyrics and I FEEL the soul, but to see how the artist affects you although you cannot understand the poem. This is the what makes a true artist. She can can touch you beyond the words
Obrigado por divulgar a cultura portuguesa, existe uma artista romena que canta Bem o fado está na internet com vários videos um abraço
Thanks for this reaction. Fado is amazing . The portuguese song happens when soul and portuguese guitar are singing together.
You clearly enjoy the most profound Portuguese songs, so you MUST listen to Madredeus. It is very special... suggestions:
Madredeus - Haja O Que Houver
Madredeus - Ao longe o mar
YE!!! Madredeus
Finaly, some 1 mention Madre Deus. Love that group, 'Pastor' also a great song.
Thank you so much for reacting to this song. I love your reaction to it. You understood it in your soul even though you didn't know the words
Love your vídeos.
You are very envolved in music diversity and learning so much with it.
Do you know fado music is a world heritage declared by UNESCO?
It is a unique style of music with a lot of feeling and passion, which particularly defines the Portuguese people and their cultural heritage around the world.
Please listen to mariza's fado "ó gente da meu terra" in "concerto em Lisboa". It's breathtaking...
A big hug and respect from Porto Portugal
"Oh gente da minha terra", from that concert, is even better
Eu sou portuguesa vivo na Alemanha Entao nao havia fado .nem fadistas como eu sou!❣️
Just one more suggestion: MARIZA - Barco Negro [Official Live Video ]
I’ve had her albums for years but not listened much lately but will put that right tomorrow
ATTENTION THAT OUR PORTUGUESE GUITARS THAT YOU SEE THERE ARE GUITARS WITH 12 STRINGS. ARE THE FAMOUS PORTUGUESE GUITARS

NICE REACTION .. I FROM PORTUGAL ... EAR - MARIZA GENTES DA MINHA TERRA - LIVE
Fado e a língua portuguesa... Irretocáveis ❤
A Google translation of Fado "Loucura":
I'm from fado how i know I live a poem sung Of a fado that I invented Speaking I can't give myself But I make my soul sing And souls know how to listen to me cry, cry poets from my country Trunks from the same root Of the life that brought us together And if you were not by my side So there was no fado Not fadistas like I am this voice so sore It's all your fault Poets of my life It's insane I hear say But blessed this madness Singing and Suffering cry, cry poets from my country Trunks from the same root Of the life that brought us together And if you were not by my side So there was no fado Not fadistas like I am And if you were not by my side So there was no fado Not fadistas like I am
Thank You very much for posting this video.as a portuguese it goes without saying fado is the best.

@@vidropartidoLOL
imaterial da humanidade; Dulce Pontes.
One thing that not many people notices......that concert is at open air with thousands of people and you can hear a PIN drop. That shows the respect we as a people have for fado and fado singers.
You guys should listen Mariza singing "Ó Gente Da Minha Terra" 😅
Really outstanding, on the same concert
If you come to lisbon again, try to go to a fado house, its a restaurante where you will have a fadista singing live next to you as you eat, kind rare his days. You will be amaze!

If you can, try to hear another portuguese artist singing this same music, Ana Moura. It seems like a different song, but still beautiful.

Hi. Buna ziwa , sorry for m porr romanian.I was surprised to meet romanians in Euforia (close to constanca) who knew Amalia Rodrigues, because their parents listened to her 50 years ago. So you see, romania likes fado , it is not new. I told to this lady to listen to Carminho (fado singer ) with HMB (pop music).
She sang to the pope last year. Go check. Was amazing
Marisa is stunning. Please react to dulce pontes another fado singer . The song canção do mar in 2003. I don't words for that perfomamce. Big hug from portugal
Stimmt alles Klasse fadista❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
MARIZA...O gente da minha terra...os very good.
Lindissimo poema Parabéns ❤❤❤❤❤
Fado is music for the soul: one voice, two guitars (one of them is the "guitarra portuguesa" that was shown on the video) and silence because it is all about living a mystical moment. In this case Mariza has an orchestra behind, but often she has only two guitar players with her.
There are many other popular fado singers such as Ana Moura, Carminho, Cristina Branco, Gisela João... Try to listen to them!
You need to listen to maritza singing gente da minha terra and barco negro live concert.
This sounds a bit like Greek music to me, it sounds great, and she has a beautiful voice.
Stephen Garbutt - Fado is a genre of portuguese music being intagible heritage of humanity.
I Love Greek people...Greek music...Greek food we share many things
This is fado nothing to do with greek music. Tgis us tge traditional portuguese music
You should ear another version of the artist Ana Moura, also very good interpreter with beautifull voice.
Maravilhosa Mariza❤❤❤

You can listen in the same concert "Primavera":
Toată dragostea care ne ținea
Parcă din ceară
S-a rupt și s-a prăbușit
O primăvară proastă
Îmi doresc, îmi doresc noi
au murit în ziua aceea
O primăvară proastă
Îmi doresc, îmi doresc noi
au murit în ziua aceea
Și m-au condamnat la atâtea
Trăiește cu mine lacrimile mele
Trăiește, trăiește și fără tine
Trăind fără însă
Am uitat de acest farmec
că am pierdut în ziua aceea
Trăind fără însă
Am uitat de acest farmec
că am pierdut în ziua aceea
Pâinea tare a singurătăţii
Este exact ceea ce ne oferă
ce ne dau să mâncăm
Ce contează că inima
Spune da sau nu
Dacă vei continua să trăiești
Ce contează că inima
Spune da sau nu
Dacă vei continua să trăiești
Toată dragostea care ne ținea
Se va rupe și se va destrăma
În groază, în groază a devenit
Nimeni nu vorbește
Nimeni nu vorbeste despre primavara
Îmi doresc, îmi doresc noi
au murit în ziua aceea
Nimeni nu vorbeste despre primavara
Îmi doresc, îmi doresc noi
au murit în ziua aceea
You liked this song ? Listen "povo da minha terra " from the same show . This one IS a masterpiece .

There are two types of Fado. Fado of Lisbon and Fado of Coimbra. The Fado of Coimbra (Also known as Fado of Stundents, because Coimbra is the City of Students) it's mostly sing by men and have more instrumental musics, with a variant of Portuguese Guitar (Coimbra Guitar). Please, listen, just listen, Carlos Paredes, the most famous player of Portuguese Guitar (Coimbra Guitar). I really hope you enjoy. Carlos Paredes - Verdes Anos. czcams.com/video/W2X_7Gi5krs/video.html
