I’m from Los Angeles, CA. I heard about Mariza about 6 or 7 years ago. When I first saw Concerto em Lisboa in its entirety I got teary eyed. Everything about that was amazing. Luis Guerreiro on Guitarra Portuguesa, Mariza’s powerful voice and her emotion. Great intro to Fado as that concert has a lot of fado classics. It inspired me to get a guitarra portuguesa of my own. And now I’m on my own musical journey even at the age of 32. Beijinhos!

She is one of the most talented" fadista" in Portugal, but this song is not a tradicional fado. This song doesn t show all the power of her voice. The musician that plays portuguese guitar, its Angelo and he plays for her since he was 14 !

There are different possible translations ; mine would be : 'Take place on me' for 'Embarca em mim'. The song's name is "You've got God's eyes".

So, it's generally sad, because you are in pain for something. In this case, the lyrics go back and forth between fado (sadness) and desfado (unfado, unsadness, joy): the joy of having sadness, the sadness of having joy.

It is a guitar yes, but its unic..its a symbol of fado music. Its known as "guitarra portuguesa" aka portuguese guitar.
This is almost impossible to translate, but you should try to grab it. Also, this is not the best Ana Moura. Try Desfado, but look at some kind if translation before.
