    They honestly look pretty shiny, not very brushed. You can just use a bit of scotch bright to dull chrome into a brushed nickel, spray a bit of wd-40 on the pad and rub it down. I learned this from some car guys.

    Sorry but the wrap over does make a difference. It changes the angle of the strings going over the bridge thereby changing the resonance of the strings. I'll have to send you a picture of my 59 copy with gold tone pickups and Bigsby tail piece. Ya I said Bigsby. I know it's not traditional but I like it. Love the video, and the man bun. LOL!

    My experience with graph tech. Put their saddles on my strat. Acoustically it made it very dead. Crank it it up on the deluxe reverb it’s fine. I’d like to know what steel would sound like. I’m working on that. As far as the Ratio Tuners? You know how they say it’s never the tuners and always the nut? Well I’m here to tell you I’ve changed Klusons to Ratio on two Les Pauls in the last two months and they were literally ( I hate to use this term) a Game Changer. Saved both of these LPs. One more of my LPs have Klusons. They’re going. The othe 2 have Grovers and they’re fine. Graph Tech saved both of those guitars. LP Std and LP Traditional. I have Classic that I’m changing out just to get rid of the Klusons. Thanks Graph Tech!!

    • @SpedSpedding
      @SpedSpedding  Před 3 lety

      Interesting about the saddles; exactly which ones did you put on? What was the material etc. I’m sure they’d be able to help you.
      But yes, I agree. Since installing the Ratio Machine heads there have been zero tuning issues and the solidarity… it gives the guitar life.
      Do I need to change those to Nickel now? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I’ve got some shorter screw coming and maybe I’ll put em back to original. But like I say when I put the Deluxe up to about 4….. nothing can stop that thing. Thanks for the reply Sped. • @KitWN
      @KitWN Před 3 lety

      @@captain4420 The only advice I can offer is to tell you a story... When I was 19 years old I finally had enough money to buy a new acoustic guitar. My friend Pete and I headed North into Manchester with the intention of trying every guitar in town to see what I wanted to buy. First stop was a shop Sped knows well where I tried, and really liked, a black Ibanez Concord, which is a rip off of a Gibson Humming Bird. Not willing to give in immediately we headed into town and I tried all sorts. Martins I couldn't really afford and everything else on offer. Nothing else really grabbed me and I finally bought the Ibanez on our way home at the end of the day. It's sitting here right next to me 44 years later.
      Go out and try some guitars. Buy the one you like, not the one with the famous name on it or the biggest price tag. Ibanez is a big name now but in the UK in 1977 they were just another aspiring Gibson/Fender copy maker. For me it just happened to be the best guitar I played all day.

    • @SpedSpedding
      @SpedSpedding  Před 3 lety +1

      Squires are generally really well built, even just changing out the pickups, tuners and the internal components can transform what would be described as “budget” to “pro” in terms of tone anyway. Beyond that you’re talking about the materials and the name on the head.
      If you’re talking about a Line 6 Helix, they’re brilliant.
      Personally if I wanted to upgrade my setup from a Squire starter rig and I had the budget of a brand new Les Paul: I’d buy a top end Yamaha Revstar and get myself a nice low watt combo valve amp and some decent FX, overdrive, chorus, reverb and delay etc.
      Or I’d spend a bit more on the guitar and buy the Spark Amp by Positive Grid.
      Basically, don’t spend all your money on one. Balance it out across everything. Unless you’re loaded, then just buy everything you want and love it all. 😂❤️
