- We invite you along on a casual walk with the pack. We talk about a few things happening at the farm. Miss Red and Maggie are back at the vet for check ups. Miss Red had a flare up with allergies and due to her history from when she was a pup, we didn’t want to take any chances. Maggie is simply in for her follow up appointment. They are very well and now back home with no concerns. We also talk about Abra the 4 month old Belgian Malinois/Dutch Shepherd’s progress.
Being 4 months old and at the very end of that crucial exposure period for puppies, we’re trying to have her experience as many new and important things as possible so that she accepts that as a normal part of her life.
Time with the kids, swimming, lots of different scenarios with the dogs.
Abra’s taking in it all. She is such a sponge for information and guidance.

Shadow always makes me smile loving her life after knowing where she started pregnant and chained to a sink.Thank you for rescuing that precious girl.

At the 5 minute mark - it’s hilarious. Luke says “sit” to Abra, and Abra, Shadow, Tank and Rover all sit and wait for the “Free”. It’s so cute.

When we were training our Mastiff, he was about 4 months old, his daddy said sit and the senior German Shepherd was in the kitchen with me and sat. They are both gone but we laugh about it often.

Roscoe exercising his mind control on Abra, it was a master class on how to silently project authority and command respect. Just that hard unflinching stare, “don’t you dare little girl, I’ve got my eye on you. You’re being watched, control yourself”. Abra: “y-y-e-s, Sir! eegads!”
Wow! I haven't seen Rosco in child protective mode as he moved purposefully between the beloved Wolfie on the see-saw and Abra. His very large body wasn't there one second, and suddenly he was there! There was no noise, no aggression, and no teeth, but Abra knew exactly what Rosco was saying and beat a rapid retreat
I was impressed with that too. He's marvellous. Freddo and Roscoe really are the Sheriff and Deputy.

Chance is amazing, so affectionate, he is a credit to the farm.

To see Abra go from distracted and indifferent, to trusting, loving and loyal in a half hour's time is just amazing! What a good dog she's gonna be! I never saw a puppy watch their owner so quickly! Walks right next to you and keeps her eye on you!
I know Dee is busy at the rescue but I hope she has time to see again that her instinct is correct about bringing Abra to The Farm. She will be really pleased.
Abra is a great little dog, trying so hard to be a good girl. She is remarkably lucky to have such great trainers. Lily is looking more beautiful and majestic than ever. ❤
I was so concerned Dee came w/Abra. Knew Luke couldn’t resist. It fell to Sam to be voice of reason. I was relieved when Dee left w/Abra. Yet, who else but Luke could ensure a good outcome for Maligator?

You had some mighty fine sticks Lily. Rover was learning by osmosis from Abra during the bush walk. Diesel is staying close to the pack while walking, very good sign, but I agree he views the other dogs as livestock to keep corralled in. Abra sure does love her Uncle Luke. Luke is her safe zone. Hope is sure trying for the lure at the pool. Was that Hope I saw jump in after the lure into the pool? Looked like her. I thought it was cute that Abra was trying to defend Luke from Roscoe.

Puppies who miss that are more difficult to socialise. As we see on the dog training channels like Dogs Behaving Badly and It's Me Or The Dog.
Love how you let the dogs be dogs but keep perfect control. I meet so many people walking dogs who just keep yabbering at them as if they were humans. Don't do that. Stop that. Be quiet. Come here. No no no no what are you doing? Etc. Clueless. Poor dogs.

😲 It is so obvious how intelligent that Abra is and so responsive to Luke. The way she kept running back to Luke on the walk as if to say, " Am I doing the right thing?" was so impressive!! She seems to be a very confident dog even at 4 months....she took to the pool very quickly. Luke you are going to have to be careful, Abra really likes to be close to you or in between your legs!! Roscoe was being the family protector when he felt like Abra was getting a little close to Wolf!! Hope everyone is having a great day!!

Sam mentioned Shadow's expression. To me she looks very content.... I can almost hear her sigh as she experiences peace and safety. I think if she was a cat she would be purring. Also, Luke was talking about how she will stop short if he vocally reprimands another dog. I have noticed that when he says "sit" to another dog, Shadow will immediately sit.
I've noticed her eyes have softened as well. When she first came to the farm her eyes were like razor sharp lazers when she looked at the other dogs. And now, soft eyes full of love.
I really enjoyed watching this video before last night! Little Abra is so bright and quick to learn! She seemed to be interested in the pool and swimming, willing to keep getting in, so I bet she will be a Farm Fish soon enough. Cutie Pie did a wonderful demonstration of how to do it, haha! And my goodness, that moment with Hope snuggled into Luke’s arms! 😭🥳❤️
It's so amazing to me to see Rosco and Chancey Boi getting along so well. Considering they couldn't be within 2 feet of each other without attacking each other, it is like a miracle. Seeing how Abra responds to Luke so quickly is also a sight to see. Luke, you're pretty amazing!

I can't get over how Rover has just "slid" into the pack and become one with them...he is feeling (and I agree) he's in his forever home already :)
I've fostered dogs that were so affectionate (like Shadow) that I would say they wanted to share molecules with you.
That's what I think about Chopper...he wants to share Luke's breath. I think he would be happy to be nose to nose with Luke all the time...or worn in a sling on his chest. He want to be AS ONE with him.😊
What Cutie lacks in stature she makes up for in bravado. Abra found a safe space between Luke's legs where she could watch and learn. I think she'll learn to love the water. Good girl, Abra. Good to see Penny enjoying a holiday

What a day Abra's had! The Pack was ready, willing and able to show her life can be very good. Watching her shake with those ears, she nearly beat herself to death. Luke, doing knee crunches, holding Abra, without launching his daughter on the other end into space - awesome control.

Abra is already very attached to Luke and am impressed how tuned in she is with listening and watching every move he makes. I was worried there for a minute she may have drawn blood on your lip when she pawed at your face, thankfully didn't. Wonderful to see her settling in well with the kids and pack. ❤❤
Thanks for explaining why Abra was able to be in the house so soon!! I love watching all the dogs behaviors & how they interact with the kids and each other in the yard. I swear my heart just melts watching Tank & Chopper. Both are so handsome, mellow & loving. ❤ Then there’s Shadow….I could just cry seeing her so happy & loved. Of course, they are ALL loved but the transformation of all the shelter dogs is miraculous. I look forward to the day when Diesel stops pacing & goes in to Luke & Sam for some hugs & kisses. Seeing Hope in Luke’s arm with her tail wagging is such a huge milestone. ❤ Abra is doing so well & has amazing focus on Luke for his guidance. ❤ Please let us know how Miss Red & Maggie’s vet visit went. I like watching Luke teaching young pups how to swim!He has such a gentle way of gaining their trust !.Abra is an apt pupil ,she will be a strong swimmer in no time at all. You may already know this but thought I would throw this your way in case it is something you haven’t tried. In Chinese medicine some foods are considered cooling foods and are ideal for feeding animals with allergies, especially when feeding proteins. For instance Chicken is heat producing and will create inflammation if there are skin sensitivities. Especially at the time of year during allergy season. You can Google a list of cooling foods for dogs with allergies, cooling meats in Chinese medicine, etc.

Strangly enough, one of my cats has skin allergies at certain times of the year and digestive issues .
I have had to eliminate chicken as I found it would flare up, especially with regards ,intestinal issues ,so the inflammatory response makes sense .I only discovered this when I put him on a special Royal canine cat food that eliminates certain proteins and contains only highly digestible proteins .
expensive but well worth it .
Yet interestingly, he can tolerate Tuna .

l was interested in Luke's comments as to why Abra was in the house in the evening with all the dogs, the children and Kitty Rose. l have such faith in Luke's judgement that l wouldn't have questioned it, presuming it was part of Abra's training. She is a beautiful girl, quick to learn and responding so well to training. Here's hoping she will not be a 'maligator' (love the name) for too many weeks first thing in the morning. She's one lucky dog to be at the farm. ❤

@46:26.. Thanx for explaining the action-absorption fase. Now I understand the reactions of my rescue dogs to a lot of ‘normal’ Dutch stuff. Never exposed, fearful reactions and anxiety now. They came to me after 4 months old.
How do you deal with it? It's possible to get them over this, as I've seen on the dog training channels I follow.
I like when Luke is doing a stay excerise with the puppy that some of the other dogs that have gone through the training comply with the commands.

Extreme stimulation poolside with the lure for Abra. She surely has already bonded with Luke and relies completely on him for reassurance. She did well in the water and was very tolerant of all new stuff. She will truly be a composed, confident dog in no time. Hold on to your boots, guys! Lol. She has puppy skittishness but just wait, that will not last. What a responsive dog already.
I love how the biggest, toughest guys ( Freddo and Rosco ) are the biggest snuggle puppies 😆
