Today, I’m going to share some of the amazing benefits of dry fasting and water fasting There are over 50 genes that protect us from famine and drought and produce many health benefits. Fasting can help you lose weight, burn fat, and live longer. It helps improve cardiovascular health and can improve your blood sugars.
A study involving birds compared birds who ate food and drank water, birds who only drank water, and birds who were essentially dry fasting as they flew across the desert. The group of dry-fasting birds generated 6 times more water than the group of birds that drank water! The dry-fasting birds also burned more fat.
When fat is burned with oxygen from the air, it turns into water. The idea that we need massive amounts of water was developed from a campaign that terrified us of dehydration! You don’t need to overdo it with water; you just need to drink when you’re thirsty.
Dry fasting is a useful tool for weight loss, but you want to ensure you do it correctly for the most fasting benefits. Follow a low-carb diet for a while before trying dry fasting. Once your body is adapted to fat burning, you’ll find that fasting is much easier.
Try water fasting before attempting dry fasting. If you’re water fasting, you can consume water, electrolytes, supplements, and sea salt. If you’re dry fasting, you don’t consume anything.
One day of dry fasting is equal to three days of water fasting! Dry fasting turns off digestion and allows the kidneys time to rest, allowing your body to switch into repair mode.
After your fast, begin eating gradually, starting with liquids. Kefir and bone broth are good choices to break your fast.

I'm 47 and after trial and errors: My best routine is to stop drinking at 4 pm.
(going to sleep at 8 pm)
The next morning I would start drinking at 4 am (that's 12 hours dry fasting).
Thanks to this, I don't wake up to pee at night.
I would start eating at 10 am.
I just started removing my 4 pm meal (so I eat only once a day).
I'm not hungry or thirsty during my Intermittent (dry) fast.
Only eating "junk" makes me hungry or more thirsty, so I stopped it all together.
I had to make myself sick eating junk to realize my craving was actually an illusion,
for all I want is to express and feel is joy from within,
and not a temporary pleasure from outside.

So no water or liquid for 12hrs each day. For how long? And what kind of fat loss or weight loss was achieved? Or was it just more mental clarity and less joint pain better sleep etc…
PS I tend to try and eat 1x a day sometimes 2. Eat after 12n and never eat after 7/8pm. I’m 6’1 down from 250lbs to about 220lbs. I’m just trying ti be healthier and less body fat. I am pre diabetic and high cholesterol.

I've never been overweight, but I still lost 6kg (13 lbs) for the last 3 months.
My goal is to gain more energy in the long run. Eating less and dry fasting keeps my body light and I feel this is the right path for me.
(I add cider vinegar, lemon juice and rock salt in my water by the way)
Eating the right food is tricky however.
I experiment with different meat, fish, vegies, and sweets like chocolate.
Excluding sweets totally left me very lethargic, unable to perform.
Chocolate gives me the energy for long walks (2 hours), but it's hard to control, and I always end up with a ballooned stomach.
I'm still on my way figuring things out. It's a long journey.
But it's worth it, both for optimal mental and physical aptitude.

Fasting 23.5 hours a day and gained. Not dry fasting. I drink over a gallon of water a day. I don’t eat chips or junk not even soda 10 years+. On this diet I got up to 382lb @ 5’0”. There is a scale that tells you everything. My SMM Skeletal muscle mass, Muscle 167lbs my water was 135lbs together I was 300lbs in muscle and water. I have 80lbs in fat. This was all done by a Dr. I have less then 80lbs of fat. 3%. Recommendations 3,000 cal diet, never in my life have I eaten 3,000 cals a day. I’m pretty sure my issue is my liver. Heath issues also pre diabetic. I changed my diet and loss 30lb without exercise. Health starts in the gut (what you eat).
Dry fasting has always been magical for me. A few times I’ve done 3 day dry fasts, it was weirdly easier than some of my 3 day water fasts. The feeling of anti-inflammation and lightness is incredible. My first 3 day dry fast cured some ankle pain and neck pain I’d been having for months. Try it! I need to do it again soon

It’s been taught to us via a book and we just take it as the absolute truth.
I reside in the ONLY fertile desert on the planet. Our ancestors have gotten along their daily lives on a couple of sips of water in a day in temperatures over 130 Fahrenheit.
We dry fast the entire month of Ramadan in these temperatures for upto 20HRS a day AND get along our daily work and life as usual - and no one ever died of heatstroke or thirst whilst doing all that, year after year, in so many centuries!
If anything. It’s the floods (excess water) due to climate change that’s killing more people now, here.
P.S: My grandmother was a housewife. She had more knowledge about life and love than the entire encyclopaedia Britannica put together. Please let life (and age old wisdom) teach you a few things as well.
I have suffered for so many years from Nocturia, or frequent urination at night. I would wake up three to four times, or sometimes even more. I have tried to find a solution through intermittent fasting, water fasting, and even a 72-hour water fast, but nothing cured my problem. It wasn't until I started dry fasting that I saw changes in my sleep. I am no longer waking up frequently to pee. Now, I feel much better with undisturbed sleep and wake up feeling refreshed.

The sarcasm is fantastic. I am easily able to do a 3-4 day water fast, and have forgotten to drink water during this time. An interesting phenomenon occurs, that is I drink a few cups of water before bed, I pee it out quickly and the scale drops more, in the morning when I weight myself. It’s fascinating.

I'd noticed the same, my weight can fluctuate wildly from day to day depending on how much water I drink. I can easily lose 5lbs overnight and routinely lose a couple of pounds every day although that is starting to slow as I get closer to my target weight..

@@ajs96350 not sure where you are, but I live in southern Nevada. I did 16 hour dry fasts when it was over 105 outside on a couple of different occasions. Didn't have any issues.
You can read the Phoenix Protocol. The authors did a 11 day dry fast and they were fine.
I have done 72 hours water fast but never a dry fast. Challenge accepted :)

I did an 8 day hard dry fast. I mostly stayed in bed. I urinated regularly; that’s when I learned that our bodies make water.

Soldiers WW2 in Tropics were sometimes denied water from Sunrise to Miday to prevent adverse issues associated with drinking too much water in heat/humidity
back then soldiers used Pervitin and other sh*t. I wouldn't take those times as an example for anything to be honest

As Oriental Orthodox Christian we dry fast more than 12 hours, 18 hours before taking a Holly communion. Yes, it works foe both body and mind.

Sounds great. I think a simple way to do it daily is to eat the last meal at 4 pm and then avoid food and drink until 10 am. I do this naturally every day and never realized I was sort of fasting. I used to drink water after 4 pm until 8 pm, but now I'll try not drinking water after 4 pm. God bless.
As an Orthodox Christian, I concur. My last meal on Saturday is usually around 8pm and I break the fast around Sunday at noon after receiving Holy Communion. Before I started "living Orthodox on purpose", I thought I could never survive without my morning coffee on Sunday, but, Glory to God, that was never an issue! I feel light and energetic on Sunday mornings. 🙏🕊

I went to a 4 day camping music festival in the desert in california with this girl. She basically didnt drink any fluids the entire time. She would drink like a half bottle of water (8 oz) once a day. At every point, u just kept expecting her to collapse of dehydration but nope! She raged on. She was a little overweight (had a bit of a belly). My only conclusion was that her body had acclimated to turning fat into water, and mine hadn't. I was easily needing 100 ounces a day. Fascinating that some people can get away with not drinking almost any water. I've had coworkers that I was with for 9 hours a day for 12 years and literally never once saw them drink water in the entire time I knew them

@@renegadezen7841 There’s no exact amount of water that we need. It can change daily. There has been no test or scientific study on a humans water needs. It depends on the minerals you have in your system, how much you sweat, etc.
People can be dehydrated even when drinking tons of water a day as they are flushing out their electrolytes and the water is not absorbed into their body.

I just did my first 24 hrs of DRY FASTING and it was easier than I expected!! I got through the day without any cravings or headaches. I’ve done prolonged water fasting many times before and I find I was spending a lot of money for electrolytes, trace minerals, and supplements and spent time constantly prepping my beverages as well as had more cravings and urges to eat. With the dry fasting I was able to go do life with less interruptions for consumption. I will try to prolong this dry fast for a couple more days to see how my body responds, before switching back to water and IF. But thus far, dry fasting already feels more effective and sustainable for me than the others. My goal is to heal my body from fibroids, tennis elbow, knee bursitis, carpal tunnel, and eczema, so that I could get back to living an active lifestyle without pain and feeling fit, free, energized.

Dry fasting and eating keto with organic or local or wild foods will do it.
@@danielpirelli3910longest I have done is 8.5 days dry fasting. I follow Dr Filonov's advise even video chat with him for my personal questions. You have a few things to learn so you must do many fast 72 hours with out water before going longer.

Any time I fast, I dry fast, usually for 2 days. Whilst I never feel thirsty during this time, if I were to, I would of course have a drink.

I have constant chronic pains all over the body for years now. Taking meds was making the pains worse so I decided to stop and started doing organic treatments which is helping slowly. When I do 3 days dry fast, I wee day and night more than when I'm driving water, I don't feel thirsty at all. Also I feel the pain eases and I can lose up to 5 kg straight. Thank you Dr Berg for the knowledge and for increasing our confidence in the health and diet department.
Check out Dr Laura Koniver for indoor grounding/earthing. If you sleep wearing a grounding bracelet, for example, you will sleep much deeper... And you will immediately notice a reduction in pain.

If you take your last meal and water four hours before going to bed, and the next day you take your first drink of water after eight hours in bed, that's twelve hours of dry-fasting, most of which is taking place when your body normally performs repairs - during sleep. I think it's time we all go from permanent IF to permanent IDF (intermittent dry-fasting).

I have an elderly family member that is 5'11 133 pounds. he Has always been slim (genetic father & grandfather the same). up til about 65 he was around 145 & younger around 155 with great muscle tone.
He would like to be around 145 pounds or more with no fat.
he plays golf once a week & lifts weights 3 times a week. In the summer he walks the course with mini type golf cart with his bag VS riding on a electric golf cart. Meaning he walks a few miles playing 9 holes in the summer.
he is in excellent shape physically but, has some liver issues hence why he is going keto. ALL his doctors want to know how he is so fit at 90 because they want to learn from him since they are so shocked at the amazing shape & strong functional mind.
he has been low carb with a very min sugar for some time & some starches such as rice & potatoes (to keep weight on). But, now will cut out potatoes & some other things except some pineapple & blue Barries to avoid keto flu.
ps when he talks to his doctor about gaining weight the nitwit doctor suggest he eat sugar, cookies, ice cream etc literally to gain weight. this doctor is NOT joking. Which infuriates me. This doctor his about 60-100 pounds over weight that he himself needs to lose for good health so makes you wonder how sick he is while seeing patients. Sadly he has not done his research on yt to find you & the keto diet.

Dry fasting 13/14 hr (approx.) is what we basically do for one month when it's Ramadan. But the thing we do wrong is we usually overdo the iftar meal (breaking the fast). I think it somewhat prevents us from getting the benefit. Appreciate the video!
Well overeating in iftar is not islamically based practice. That’s just human beings. The prophet did not eat heavily, because he spent the evening in prayers.

The Quoran verses sound exactly like a (Human) nomad war lord would write them so they would help him politically with his state building and conquering people problems. It's also quite Human to want to have multiple wives, some of them much too young to consent. Or to say that he is the last prophet. He knew there could come someone else and just claim he is a prophet and take his followers away.

I just finished my first 36 hour dry fast! It was actually much easier than a 3 day water fast. However, re-feeding after a dry fast is super important and can land you in the hospital if you do it wrong. Make sure you take your time! My entire body felt amazing during this time and I could visibly see my skin feeling more taught. I'm definitely going to be doing this on a regular basis.

I like to drink warm water with lemon ginger and turmeric in the morning, normally a litre on an empty stomach with a little apple cider vinegar, I find this helps to flush the system and burn fat
For years I did a 24 hr dry fast every Wednesday. I did spiritual reasons and as a by product my health was impeccable. I didn't connect the dots until recent years when I started fasting for my health and all the research said it was better to do water fasting.
I can personally say that dry fasting yielded better results and I was perfectly fine although it a tougher to get through the fast while I was still eating a standard American diet throughout the week.
I think I am going to give dry fasting another chance coupled with a ketogenic diet/lifestyle.
When we visit our orphanages in Africa, we see the natives only drink once or twice a day because it's so difficult to get water. They've been doing that forever.

It gets better, the first time I did a dry fast it was 3 days of hell. I recently did a 5 day dry fast and breezed through it and was nowhere near as thirsty, i even exercised a bit, unlike before, where I was bedridden from fatigue. I like dry fasting, cause its honestly easier than water fasting and the health benefits are insane the longer you go. I've been dry fasting for 5 days every 30 days for the past 3 years.
It is the most powerful tool to manage most healh issues like, for example, my herniated disk.
Not going to lie, not for everyone and very tough to do, also needs to do a lot of reading and educate how to do it properly and safely refeed afterwards that also last 5 days.

In my own experience dry-fasting is amazing. I am not recommending it but I have been able to occasionally do it for up to 4 days (controversial and you must know how to break) but 12 hours is completely doable for most. Incredible healer.

Thank you, Dr.Berg, for this much needed video. I have practiced dry fat for many years now. My mother has even more experience in that. I can tell you that for me there is nothing better than dry fasting. My biggest fasting period was 6 days. But I did it because I had a lot of experience before with smaller periods of time and also water fasting. My mom's longest fast is 9 days.
I agree with almost 100% of the information on the video. I would add a few things to it. The additional benefit of this type of fasting is that after the second day you feel like you have a temperature, your skin is hot. That's the body burning everything it doesn't need. So, basically, after the second day you become almost immune to the viruses since the immune system is working like crazy.
I would disagree only with the food that you can take after you exit from the fast. I wouldn't recommend milk products or meat brews in any shape or form. Your body digestive system will not be ready to consume that type of heavy foods after a prolonged period of not eating anything. It may have bad consequences. So, the rule is: if you fasted, let's say, 2 days, you should have a special drinking and eating regimen at least for 2 other days. You first introduce water and you'll feel an energy boost immediately. After slowly hydrating yourself enough, I start drinking some infusions, like mint or daisy with just a little bit of honey added to it. After that I start eating little portions of fruits. After that you can introduce vegetable salads and soups without any meat.
The most important thing to remember when you're in the period of exiting the fast: until the end of the period (which is, again, roughly equals in time the fasting period) DON'T EAT ANY bread, meat, mushrooms or even milk. It can cause severe issues with your digestive system and kidneys since the body is not ready to process that type of food yet. Stick to a strictly vegetarian diet without gluten for this period of time.

After that people are getting disappointed and abandon that beautiful gift from God that we call fasting. I hope this information helps someone not to repeat those mistakes.

So informative, never heard of dry fasting. Going to throw this into my routine a few days a week❤.
We grew up in eating fresh meat and variety of milk. From goats to Camel. Carbs and sugar is a new phenomenon to most of these countries and problematic now as people indulge in these food. But the key point is to be balanced in you approach and to to go too extreme with anything for longer then necessary.

I was at a Disney on Ice event and every intermission they reminded everyone to hydrate and drink their water. As if the people in the audience were the ones that needed to hydrate 😂. Meanwhile the bottle water cost $18. 😲

I appreciate this. I gave this a try a while back and it does burn fat pretty quickly. I could go for a day (and a little longer) but that’s because I can already fast without food and electrolytes because I’ve been following your healthy keto plan for the last two years and my body had adapted to ketosis. I did lose weight, but now I understand why. So for me a dry fast for a day is a regular fast. I had plateaued and was retaining water weight for a while so this was pretty meaningful to me.

My church has been doing 24hr dry fast every first Sunday of the month since 1800's. I've never loved to do it, but to see how beneficial I am glad that I have gotten used to it. just keep busy and it goes by.

Me too. When he said 30 days dry fast, I was like you are describing Ramadan. Alhamduillah for the blessing of Ramadan.
Not to mention the sunnah fast ( dry fast Mondays, Thursdays, 13, 14, 15 of each month).
I like to drink more in one setting, so it is common for me to not drink 3-6 hours. And drink a lot when drinking. I did also note when water fasting, that i do not really feel an urge to drink for longer.
When trying dryfast i do notice that around 21+ hours i do get an headache, which increases fast, so the 12-20 hour range seems good for me.
I do live in an country with good tap water, so i do not have an need to buy bottles of water
Great time to bring this out when it is in the middle of summer 🤔🙄

I am on a ketogenic diet for 1,5 years now and i usually do OMAD on workdays and 2 meals on weekends. I tried prolonged fasting before but had to stop after 3 days. Recently i tried it again and did a 7 day waterfast with ease... it was a quite interesting experience and it really got some stubborn fat moving. And i will try the waterfast as well... it sounds promising. the most difficult thing of fasting is to break the routines in your head of regularly eating ( and probably drinking as well)

But I would be cautious practicing this form of diet with existing kidney issues or stone issues. Speaking out of experience, if you are living with kidney / gallbladder stones, refrain from any dry fast or de-hydration experiments. You have only one life.

I was 20 hr dry fasting as a kid because of how I grew up in Christianity. I thought nothing of it. I did a 48 hr dry fast in college as a D1 athlete, have no clue how but God helped me. I never knew how much it benefited my body. That’s awesome

Dr. Berg, I want to recommend a book on subject. It's called "The Phoenix Protocol". It goes into great details about studies done on dry fasting and it's healing benefits. It also talks about studies done by 2 Russian doctors and the effects they observed on their patients. Highly recommended.
Something to consider when it isn’t 85-100 with 80% humidity. So might try it but will wait till late fall to winter.
I live in Florida and the humidity and heat will wear you out. However, I have tried today, but have mostly stayed home in the AC and have done a lot of relaxing. I will plan to be hydrated before my special need’s child returns home, he is 11, I have to carry him and do alot of medical care.
Basicly it's similar to intermitted fastening. Good as a tool, depending on your activity level, but not good to overdo it. Balanced as everything should be in life
