Hello, and thanks for tuning in! In this video we'll trim down an overgrown wild honeysuckle bonsai that I originally cut down with an axe! Watch, learn, and enjoy!
Very nice Honeysuckle and I love the root base, with those exposed twisted, contorted roots. With a few years growth and a bit of training, this should become an excellent bonsai.
I know you probably have to stay on top of that honeysuckle!!! Looks wicked cool with that root base!!! Wild collected material is so cool to me bc you know it is tough having lived in the wild or woods!! Keep the videos coming!! Very interesting!
Thank you, appreciate the support! I despise this stuff in the outdoors but this one had such a cool trunk on it that I had to save it. It grows like mad, for sure.
I started one of these last year while in the process of trying to exterminate them I found a beautiful trunk and fell in love. About 3 inch thick with great root spread at only 8 inches tall
@@thebeardedbonsai just curious if the honeysuckle bloomed this spring/summer? Fall color? the root base is beautiful regardless! New subscriber here, I’m zone 7A northern VA
@urchinsushi2041 thank you for subscribing! It hasn't bloomed since I potted it and the fall colors of this type can go to a yellow color, but are otherwise unimpressive so far

Thank you! I love the base on this one as well, great character and age!

Love that root structure. I really need to find the right tree seedling and give bonsai a try. Looks great!
It's very fun, and VERY addicting!
I work with honey suckle trees all the time. Wish I could show you them.
I'd love to see them! You can find me on Facebook and Instagram and message me as well!
