Vitiate once killed his Dark Council, 12 of the most powerful Sith Lords at that time, without breaking a sweat or having to move one step. He subjugated Revan, one of the most powerful Jedi/Sith in the entire SW history, two times without having too much trouble. He rendered two planets completely lifeless to the point where not even the Force itself remained. He built two massive and powerful empires and governed them simultaneously through his host bodies. Speaking of them, he could literally be at dozens of places at the same time by inhabiting the bodies of other people. He survived at least three corporal deaths in SWTOR
Last and not least, he was THE Sith who came as close to achieving immortality as one can come without actually being immortal.
While I like Palpatine, for me, he will always remain the Sith who got thrown down a reactor shaft by a one-handed, asthmatic and crippled old man in a black leather suit. His ability to scheme and manipulate puts everybody to shame, but his fighting resumee is somewhat dodgy in some cases. Also, we know literally nothing about Palpatine´s strategic and tactical capabilities (aside from his battle meditation), while Vitiate coordinated the first war against the Republic more or less on his own, which resulted in the Treaty of Coruscant that greatly benefitted the Sith Empire.
So while both canon and legends claim that Sidious is the most powerful Sith of all time (albeit the term "powerful" is somewhat vague and open to interpretation), I personally like to believe that Vitiate is at least his equal, if not even more "powerful" in certain aspects.

@@paulwilliams2024 The Eternal Empire was way ahead of the Galactic Empire, for a number of reasons. First off, the Eternal Fleet is far greater than anything the Imperial Navy has, especially when combined with the Gravestone. Secondly, the Eternal Empire did in fact control the entire galaxy, at least for a time. Thirdly, total control is not the be all end all. Part of the reason why the Galactic Empire crumbled relatively quickly is due to the almost impossible task of securing things beyond your initial borders….just ask the Roman Empire how that went. The military tribute route used by Arcann was actually a pretty decent system, and something the Persian Empire used to great effect.

Krayt at the very end certainly stepped up, but he was never really on the level of Vitiate or Sidious, the force was simply far too influenced by the ghosts of Skywalkers during his time so that he just couldn't grasp hold of as much raw power in the force to pin under his influence as Sidous or Vitiate managed, & so his peak of power is less than their's even with an arguably comparable base of power to build up from.

I would have had my forces scatter and spread across certain worlds to begin building he foundations of or empire in secret then when we are ready join our world to build a sith empire under my rule and begin our assault on certain worlds. Using my illusions to trick weaker worlds to surrender and submit and allowing my greater fleets to keep the republic busy while I build up enough forces to launch an assault to wipe the jedi out. Even if my main fleet suffered a defeat our remaining forces can regroup and gather our strength while other fleets I built travel to other worlds to establish new bases and then I'd hibernate the same. Inly this time when my empire is established at full strength were then I train a legion of sith warriors honour bound to the empire and to fight together against the jedi while other Sith are trained to command my armies. Meanwhile I'm harnessing the powers of the force to create new weapons and creatures bound to my will to destroy any in my way.

Juju the Homs I absolutely agree with you. Power in the force doesn't necessarily equate to one's overall power, as Valkorian was very intelligent, patient, resourceful and manipulative. Unlike Palpatine, who essentially helped destroy the Sith by adamantly sticking to Bane's Rule of Two and his inability to be as resourceful due to being in hiding for so long. LeXApple does have a point with Darth Marr being what the Sith needed as he was very progressive as an important Sith figurehead, however he was undone by his over ambitiousness and lack of patience (not to mention he just was not as skilled in the force as Valkorian). Valkorian was rather silent for a prolonged periods of time, but that was part of his "grand-plan" as he did successfully hollow out a fairly powerful force-user and possess him, then he formed a 2nd Empire with any resources available to him. Which then was able to defeat both the Sith Empire and the Republic simultaneously, after he lured both Jedi and Sith into creating a new war with his new Empire. Don't forget it took a good few powerful force-users to finally defeat Valkorian. Sorry for the lengthy reply lol.

      @jujuthehoms5482 Před 6 lety +6

SuperGhostuk yeah, palpating was manipulative sure but he used the already existing infighting and corruption. Whereas valkorian start up talked people into doing something. If he was a better father and husband I doubt he would have been killed seeing as how it took his entire family with the help of the outlander to beat him for good

    • @SuperGhostuk
      @SuperGhostuk Před 6 lety +4

Juju the Homs, that is very true. However Valkorian's plan/goal (to become a God, I believe) never truly involved having a wife or kids, they were just a means to an end that could be destroyed. You said it yourself, the Outlander/Jedi Knight was the catalyst that united the family against Valkorian (plus the Sith Artifact that Valkorian trapped his father in). Plus without the Outlander/Jedi Knight, united they most likely would have still failed against him. So in a way perhaps the Outlander/Jedi Knight was one of the most powerful Jedi's (again force power doesn't always equate to overall power) at that time/ever as Valkorian said himself that the Outlander left his mark wherever he went across the galaxy and it was supposed to be the Outlander's body that would have been the perfect vessel for Valkorian's powerful spirit.

The most important thing between Sidious and Valkorion is that Sidious was in his prime basically the only real sith lord in the entire Galaxy which according to Darth Bane and the Rule of Two gives that individual way more presence of the Dark Side within him. This cannot be said about Valkorion therefore IMO Valkorion is the stronger Sithlord in any aspect.

"Oh shit, painted ourselves into a corner. Now we need an even GREATER Sith to reconcile this status-quo with the Sith mentality. And we can make overpriced DLC all about him! Yay!" The unknown regions are logically my first choice and I'd hibernate until our empire is at it's TRUE strength. Then we attack and conquer world by world and rally support with crime lords. Another great weakness of Palpatine was that he constantly broke the Rule of Two, the very foundation of the Sith Order. Within the films, Palpatine uses many apprentices to try to achieve his goals, yet from such constant betrayals of his students came his fall at the hands of Vader. And with the Operation Shadow Hand, when he had an army of Dark Side users, he weakened himself by having a potential rival takeover when an opportunity would strike.

    • @mattmorehouse9685
      @mattmorehouse9685 Před rokem

Is the Rule of Two necessary to be a sith? I heard that was something made by Darth Bane to cut down on the massive infighting between sith that tended to screw them over. I also saw a video on why normal troopers were able to defeat sith under Vitiate, which said it was because they weren't embracing the selfish, power hungry nature of the dark side. They were high on a more selfless nationalism made by Vitiate, not the all consuming lust for power. The idea was that they would sacrifice themselves for their emperor which probably works best when you've got a large population.

      Sidious did this…
The Emperor dominates the minds of everyone on Byss, a planet with 20 billion residents and places an illusion of tranquility into their heads. This is simultaneously an application of Dominate Mind and Force Illusion.
Almost mindless under the oppression of the Emperor's dark side influence, the people of Byss find their life energies constantly leeched off during the Emperor's vile machinations.
      --Byss and the Deep Core
Slowly but steadily, he used his dark Force powers to enslave the people on the world and drain their life energies to fuel his own vile experiments.
      --Byss and the Deep Core
Throughout the worlds submissive to the Empire, Byss is renowned as a paradise, whose siren call multitudes to willingly apply for emigration to its shores. Once there, wrapped in the power of the dark side, the immigrants become completely submissive, their life energy forever enslaved to the mind that would devour a galaxy.
      --Dark Empire endnotes
Years ago, Emperor Palpatine chose Byss as his private retreat, and Imperial architects and engineers were commissioned to build him an opulent palace. Several million humans were allowed to emigrate to the world, where the Emperor and his adepts used the dark side to feed off their life energies. The planet's population eventually reached almost 20 billion, and all outgoing communications were censored by security agents.
      --The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia
They rediscovered forgotten and long taboo applications of the Force, chief among them the draining of life itself from the populace. What better lure for multitudes than Byss’s siren call of beauty and peace? Once there, their wills are destroyed by the Emperor and his Adepts, and replaced with an illusion of tranquility as they blissfully surrender their life energy to sustain the Emperor.
      --Dark Empire Sourcebook
Note: Given the words “constantly” and “forever” in the first quote, it can be inferred that Palpatine was maintain the domination passively 24/7 from across the galaxy for decades non-stop, casually.
Emperor Palpatine holds together the entire Imperial Military through the dark side, to the point where it cannot function without him. This is an application of Dominate Mind.
For the first time, the Death Star rocked. The collision with the exploding destroyer was only the beginning, leading to various systems breakdowns, which led to reactor meltdowns, which led to personnel panic, abandonment of posts, further malfunctions, and general chaos. Smoke was everywhere, substantial rumblings came from all directions at once, people were running and shouting. Electrical fires, steam explosions, cabin depressurizations, disruption of chain-of-command. Added to this, the continued bombardments by Rebel Cruisers-smelling fear in the enemy-merely heightened the sense of hysteria that was already pervasive. For the Emperor was dead. The central, powerful evil that had been the cohesive force to the Empire was gone; and when the dark side was this diffused, this nondirected-this was simply where it led.
      Confusion.
      Desperation.
      Damp fear.
      --Return of the Jedi novelization
C'baoth snorted. "So is this what you want me for, Grand Admiral Thrawn?" he asked scornfully. "To turn your ships into puppets for you?"
"Not at all, Master C'baoth," Thrawn told him, his voice perfectly calm again. "My analogy with combat borg implants was a carefully considered one. The Emperor's fatal error was in seeking to control the entire Imperial Fleet personally, as completely and constantly as possible. That, over the long run, is what did the damage. My wish is merely to have you enhance the coordination between ships and task forces - and then only at critical times and in carefully selected combat situations."
      --Heir to the Empire
The Emperor, it had long been rumored, had had the ability to use the Force to exercise direct control over his military forces.
      --The Last Command
With the Emperor dead, the central, powerful evil that had been the cohesive force of the Empire was gone. With the Dark Side diffused and undirected, the Imperials were left with nothing but confusion, desperation, and damp fear. The sudden loss of coordination and fighting spirit allowed Han Solo, Princess Leia and the Rebel Commandos to disable the shield generator.
      --Heir to the Empire sourcebook
At the decisive Battle of Endor, the Jedi returned to aid the Alliance in the form of Luke Skywalker and his father Anakin. The Emperor was killed, his fleet scattered, and his dark will which held the Empire together destroyed. Without its binding, the Empire began to unravel.
      --Heir to the Empire sourcebook
Palpatine knew precisely why the Empire couldn’t last without his dread power: he had designed it that way. No one ever suspected how much he relied on the Dark Side of the Force. He shaped those of his government by using the Force against them. He used it to control his fleets and to drive his soldiers on to victory. He used it to destroy his enemies from a distance and learn of conspiracies against him. Without it, there was no way the Empire could endure, as he had designed it. The Dark Side flowed through him like some primordial ichor and was the key to all his power.
      --Dark Empire Sourcebook
“Perhaps a few months ago, I would have scoffed at the idea of one man controlling or shaping the events of the galaxy through sheer force of will. I certainly did not agree with the Grand Admiral’s contention that the Imperial Navy’s loss at Endor was because were, in effect, enslaved to the Emperor, as if we were, in Thrawn’s words, ‘borg-implanted into a combat computer.’
“That was then. Now I see that the Grand Admiral, the worthiest successor to the Emperor’s throne to have yet appeared, was quite accurate in his assessment.”
--Gilad Pellaeon, The Last Command Sourcebook
Note: The Imperial Military consists of tens of trillions of individuals, meaning all of them were under Palpatine’s influence.
The Imperial military is a massive organization, with tens of trillions of regular Army soldiers, trillions of fleet crew and a vast force of Stormtroopers both cloned and conditioned.
      --Rebellion Era Campaign Guide
It should also be noted that since Return of the Jedi was the first time that anyone had been removed from Palpatine’s influence given the amount of panic it incited, and that the quote which mentions Palpatine had designed the Empire to be reliant on his power, it can be inferred that Palpatine was maintaining his Mind Domination casually and passively ever since Revenge of the Sith.
Emperor Reborn can control everyone in the whole galaxy with the dark side.
In place of the Empire and the New Republic, Palpatine planned to bring about a new form of galactic governance. He would use the dark side to control everything and everyone in the galaxy. What's more, he was capable of it.
--Official Starships and Vehicle Collection #64
Note: The Galactic Empire, which contains more than one hundred quadrillion beings, is only a part of the whole galaxy. As such, the total number of beings would be much larger.
The known galaxy includes nearly a billion inhabited star systems, from uncharted settlements set up by smugglers to megapolis worlds where scarcely a meter of untouched ground remains. Nearly seventy million of those star systems were sufficiently populated for representation of some sort in the Galactic Empire, a vast bureucracy responsible for the affairs of more than one hundred quadrillion beings.
      --The Essential Atlas
It shall be noted that Cronal who is below Dark Empire Luke could do the same.
Cronal has unparalleled knowledge of Sith alchemy and with Luke Skywalker's body he would be capable of becoming the galaxy.
With Luke Skywalker's body―and his unparalleled connection to the Force―to compliment Cronal's unparalleled knowledge of Sith alchemy and the unique properties of meltmassif, he would indeed rule the galaxy.
He could, should he choose, become the galaxy.
Every living thing would answer to his will...
―Star War: Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor
Yes, that's right Reborn Palpatine can mind rape an entire galaxy that contains over a hundred quadrillion beings.

It took every single goddamn Jedi from the time of their creation up until to 11 A.B.Y. to basically seal his spirit into Chaos (the Star Wars Equivalent of hell) for an eternity and still not killing him.
If those deceased Jedi spirits appeared in the first place, Palpatine would eventually become omnipotent.
“These pages unite one of the first Sith Lords with he who shall be the last. Each author’s voice echoes the era in which he or she held power, but the Sith Order has evolved over seven thousand years. The errors made by my predecessors will not be my own. Their triumphs will be nothing compared to my omnipotence.”
--Darth Sidious, Book of the Sith
With the knowledge gained from his Dark Side Compendium, he would create an eternal dynasty, with the descendants of Skywalker as its nobility, and Palpatine himself as its omnipotent ruler.
      --Dark Empire Sourcebook
Emperor Palpatine acquired the Force Storm ability somewhere around 19-18 BBY at the beginning of his reign.
“This technique can be increased into a Force Storm
      [...]
It may take decades to master this art, but once I have perfected it, I will be invincible.”
--Darth Sidious, Book of the Sith
“From the context, I believe Palpatine assembled this volume soon after declaring himself Emperor, or sometime around 19-18 B.B.Y.”
--Luke Skywalker, Book of the Sith
Note: Even at that point, Palpatine’s Storms could annihilate a thousand enemies at once, fold space and consume literally anything it touches, including entire armies.
“It must be understood that anger can funneled through the body and released near the heart at the ‘vital gate.’ The destruction can can be unleashed by this method is immense. Thousands of enemies can be annihilated in a single act of malice.”
--Darth Sidious, Book of the Sith
“The churning energy mass of a Force Storm can consume everything it touches for at its eye is pure hate. Just as a black hole devours a star, this storm can swallow armies and fold space.”
--Darth Sidious, Book of the Sith
(★) The Emperor learns to trigger Force Storms just by thinking about it.
"Using this knowledge, I can unleash the dark side energies that are all around us, even to shatter the fabric of space itself. In this way, I have created storms.
Through a simple act of will, I can generate Force Storms, energy storms that are vastly destructive and virtually unstoppable. Although triggering such storms requires merely thought and inclination, I admit I am not yet able to completely control the phenomenon. Among my goals is to perfect this control."
--Darth Sidious, Jedi vs Sith: The Essential Guide to the Force
Also, Sidious can potentially blow up stars whenever he wants, making him a star-buster.
First, there is the Valley of the Jedi, one of the most well known Star Wars feats in Legends, which boosts a Force-user's power to such an extent that they can cause supernovas with utmost ease. As Qu Rahn puts it:

Jerec, the man who murdered your father, is a great evil. He searches for the location of a sacred place, the Valley of the Jedi. The Force of thousands of Jedi is trapped here. If Jerec captures this power, he will be a creature such as the universe has never seen. A supernova of stars in a fleeting thought-the eradication of life from a star system in a whisper-will be within his power.

~ Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II
There is also the power of Naga Sadow's Sith Corsair, which channels and controls Dark Side energy to the point where one is able to destroy entire stars:
      imgur.com/a/0RenN
As well as Brakiss' feats, showing that it is possible for a Sith to destroy stars without a device to channel and better focus their power:
“More than five millennia ago the Denarii Nova exploded, ripping through these stars and reducing them to cinders,” Brakiss said. “The powerful Sith sorcerer Naga Sadow caused this cataclysmic event to gain his freedom from pursuing Republic warships. With the extravagant power of the dark side, Naga Sadow tore these two stars apart and used giant flares like two slapping hands to crush the fleet behind him.”
Zekk nodded again and finally found words.
“Another example of the power of the dark side.”
Brakiss smiled proudly at him. “It is a power your friends Jacen and Jaina would never have shown you-much less taught you.”
“No,” Zekk agreed. “They never would have.”
For years, he had been friends with the twin children of Han Solo and Leia Organa Solo. Zekk was just a street kid, though-a nobody, who lived by his wits scavenging items in the dangerous underlevels of the city-covered world of Coruscant.
His hopes for a better life had been little more than dreams until the Nightsister Tamith Kai snatched him and brought him to the Shadow Academy as part of a new recruitment drive.
In an earlier attempt to gain talented candidates, Brakiss had made an error by kidnapping the high-profile trainees Jacen, Jaina, and Lowbacca.
When that failed, he had decided the Shadow Academy might do better with a different sort of person: downtrodden young ones who wouldn’t be missed, yet had just as much potential to acquire Jedi powers-and more to gain by swearing allegiance to the Second Imperium.
Zekk had resisted the transformation at first, fighting to stay loyal to his friends. But gradually Brakiss lured him, showing Zekk how to use the Force for one small thing, then another. Zekk discovered that he was strong in the Force, and he learned quickly.
The experience altered his feelings toward the twins from friendship to resentment. Jaina and Jacen had never thought to include him in Jedi testing, though he felt he had as much innate talent as any of their highborn friends. Zekk’s main regret in leaving his old life was that he missed his companion, old Peckhum. But now he had much more of a future. Zekk was beginning to understand Jedi powers, and he had already done things he’d never dreamed of.
Gazing at the stormy suns, Brakiss raised his arms to each side, spreading his fingers. His silvery robe flowed around him as if knit from silken spiderwebs. He stared into the swirling flares of the Denarii Nova. “Observe, Zekk-and learn.”
Closing his eyes, the Master of the Shadow Academy began to move his hands. Zekk watched through the observation port, his green eyes widening.
The ocean of rarefied incandescent gases between the dying stars started to swirl like arms of fire… writhing, changing shape, dancing in time with the hand motions Brakiss made. The dark teacher was manipulating the starfire itself!
He whispered to Zekk without opening his eyes, without observing the effect of his work. “The Force is in all things,” Brakiss said, “from the smallest pebble to the largest star. This is just a glimmer of how Naga Sadow reached out to the stars and delivered a mortal wound five thousand years ago."
“Could you make the sun explode?” Zekk asked in awe.
Brakiss opened his eyes and looked at his young student. His smooth, perfect forehead creased. “I don’t know,” he said. “And I don’t believe I ever want to try.”
Zekk remembered the way Brakiss had enticed him to experiment with his innate Jedi powers, by giving him a flarestick and showing how simple it was to draw shapes in the flames with the Force. Here in the Denarii Nova, Brakiss had done the same thing-only on a scale the size of a star system.
Source: From Young Jedi Knights: Lightsabers
The quote above proves that a Sith could bust entire stars without using any Force-amplification artifact.
It shall be noted that Sidious' soul have practically survived the power of every single deceased Jedi from 25,000 B.B.Y. To 11 A.B.Y and is only enough to seal his soul to the netherworld of the Force.
The valley of the Jedi had contain like a thousand Jedi spirits and is only enough to make the dark Jedi Jerec to make a casual star-buster as stated that he would have enough power to blow up stars with a mere thought by using the power of the valley of the Jedi.
It is very reasonable enough, that Sidious is several times stronger than both Naga Sadow in his Sith Corsair and Valley of the Jedi Jerec who are casual star busters, as Sidious have survived the power of every single Jedi from 25,000 B.B.Y. to 11 A.B.Y.

In the words of Lord Vader, "The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant compared to the power of the Force"
Besides, The Force is all-powerful and infinite, even this is stated in the A New Hope.
