Would you consider doing a full video on legacy era? Legacy is my favorite
The era of stupidity where they met with the only sith in the galaxy once a week and didn’t realize it
Ha so true
Fighter 1001 in their defence, Palpatine and Plagieus were experts at force-concealment. It would have been highly unlikely that they’d have figured it out even if they were suspicious
Jordan Precisely!
I feel a major part of it is Palpatine’s power but I do believe part of it was Jedi ignorance. They Jedi had brought themselves to be generals in a war they never should have allowed themselves to be apart of (in the way they where part of it) and became heavily invested in following orders in war and politics. Rather than being the overall peacekeepers within the galaxy
Honestly they should have been neutral if not more sympathetic to the overall ideas of the CIS
So basically, the Jedi went from Space Buddhists to Space Samurai, and then to Space Navy SEALS, and finally, Space Knights.
I like how the og jedi order tried to balance the dark and light side, maintaining moral ambiguity. That shit was fire and there were like no conflicts. It is only after they pushed their bullshit moral fascism that war and genocide became common.
@@vitalstatistixthegaul770 its like can see your real life beliefs in how you speak about star wars. Its rather worrisome.
Nevermind the whole "darkside seeks power and to abuse power" which actually is morally wrong, you just dont like that they call it out, because you personally feel that its actually acceptable because "perspective"; when really, thats just a kaleidoscope to divert attention from a moral flaw .. lol
@@davedavidson8208 I don't believe in morality I've read max stirner
@@davedavidson8208 Focusing too much on the poster and not on his point. Your "nevermind" part is wrong. Have you actually read anything about the early Darksiders? I will go on a limb and guess the answer is "no".
The early Darksiders were not actually advocating learning solely the Dark Side, instead they were in favour the balanced approach of the previous Je'daii.
Take the Legions of Lettow. Xendor was a high ranking Jedi who was dissatisfied with the Jedi Order outright forbidding the study of the Dark Side. He attempted to gain the Order's blessing in studying it (note how he did not go all civil war on them) but was denied every time. Eventually, he just left the Order and established his own academy at Lettow (again, note how he did not go all civil war on them). His academy prospered and it was then that the Jedi Order decided this must not be allowed to stand (and by "this" I mean having people approach the study of the Force in ways contrary to the Jedi dogma). The Jedi were the ones who amassed an army and attacked first (interested to hear how your moral compass would try to justify this).
Xendor actually tried to make the war as brief as possible to minimise bloodshed (again, because I like pointing these things out, note who is doing, as you would put it, the morally right choices here). The Jedi eventually gained the upper hand and pushed the Legions into Republic space (at the time the Order and the Republic were not officially aligned). This push was deliberate on the part of the Jedi since they wanted the Republic to ally with them against the Legions. It was Xendor who tried to stop the conflict from spilling into Republic territory and even tried to warn the Republic, but the Jedi got there first and were successful in getting the Republic to brand Xendor as a rogue warlord.
In the aftermath of the conflict Danzigorro Potts, a young Jedi who served in the war, concluded that the Jedi Order needed a common enemy on whom they can concentrate and thus prevent the Order members from turning on one another. Interesting that the "good guys" would need such glue to keep them together. It is almost like morality has nothing to do with it.
After that, any further push to study the Dark Side was met with instant hostility from the Jedi. It did not matter how non-violent or reasonable a request may have been, it would be met with force. The Jedi literally created their own worst enemies. What you prattle on with all that moral talk are the Sith, and the Sith are a direct result of Jedi bigotry and fanaticism. The fallen Jedi who would create the first Sith were more radical than Xendor's Legions, and over time the Jedi would push them into more extreme radicalism. Take the old Sith Empire. It was a warlike, almost Klingon-like society, but it did have its fair share of level heads who pushed for neutrality with the Republic and avoiding open war, so the Sith were hardly a force of pure evil at this point. The warmongers prevailed and started the Great Hyperspace War, and in the aftermath what did the Jedi and the Republic do? When victory was already theirs, when the Sith were utterly defeated, what did the "moral" Jedi do? I am guessing you do not know (because again, you would not prattle about morality if you did). The Jedi and the Republic ordered the extermination of the Sith (not just a sect, but an entire species at this point in history).
It was after this genocide that the Sith were pushed into becoming ruthless, genocidal, bloodthirsty fanatics, hellbent on revenge against the Republic and the destruction of the Jedi Order. The Jedi literally created the Sith, by persecuting those who sought to learn about the Dark Side, by making said persecutions harsher and harsher as time went on, and by outright committing genocide against those who refused to bow to the Jedi dogma. The Jedi are fanatics, and they pushed their opponents into becoming just as fanatical. Both the Sith and the Jedi are extremists, and when you think about it, both have an unhealthy mindset. Most people are not wholly evil nor wholly good, but are in between. By opting for just one extreme end of the spectrum, regardless which end that is, both are making a mistake. And this is not even "good vs evil" when you think about it, but more "extreme emotional repression vs extreme emotionalism". Bloody hell, almost every sect that challenged the Jedi Order originated from within the Order itself, that in itself should speak volumes.
As for your idea that the Dark Side corrupts, it is impossible to state such a thing for certain. Early Darksiders were not bloodthirsty fanatics and actually sought a balance of both the Light and the Dark side. Later Darksiders were more fanatical and often unambiguously evil, but I would argue that was after they started clinging exclusively to the Dark Side with just as much fanaticism as the Jedi clung to the Light Side. Plus, by opting for the Dark side they basically branded themselves as material for the Jedi to purge, so that they would almost automatically become ruthless or even downright cruel is not really that hard to understand. The Sith were almost always badly outnumbered by the Jedi, plus the Jedi had the whole apparatus of the Republic at their disposal, it does not surprise me in the least that the Sith would turn out the way they did in the face of such odds.
And even then, it was not entirely a given that a Sith would go bad. Case in point, Darth Vectivus, who was the Dark Lord of the Sith during the time of Bane's Sith Order. He was a Darksider, a Sith Dark Lord no less, but he retained a strict moral compass to the end of his life. When Jacen Solo, the future Darth Caedus, was first told of him, his reply was that he never heard of the guy. To that he was told "that's because he did no evil. He didn't attempt to conquer the galaxy, try to wipe out the population of a star system, or start an all-out war with the Jedi. He just existed, learned. Died of old age, surrounded by family and friends." Lumiya was using this example to sweeten Jacen's transition into the Dark Side, yes, but the thing is, she did not lie. That really was how Vectivus lived and died.
I always found it baffling how a puritan sect hellbent on suppressing basic human nature and not above playing extremely dirty when the situation calls for it can be regarded as having the moral high ground. The Sith were not the good guys, but neither were the Jedi. Both are extremists and both are wrong.
@@marinusvonzilio9628 I came here looking for a simple explanation of the history of the Jedi and got a full holocron worth. Thank you. I know it was not for me but it was a fun read.
The Jedi Order: our vision is being clouded by the dark side.
Luke: Sweet, y'all mind if I build my new order literally inside and on top of an old temple to the dark side?
He did it to mask his own force prescence
In Legends, the Jedi Temple on Coruscant was never built on top of an old temple to the dark side. That was something invented by Filoni and after the decanonization of the old EU when he was asked about what TCW was going to continue to be about. Unless you're talking about Yavin 4, in which case you would be right.
Grand Admiral Thrawn not true exactly, when Luke goes back to Corsuscant he finds a dark side presence there. I could be wrong but I feel like his guess was it existed previous to the old Jedi order’s fall.
This is in the yuzhan vong story arc
@@readable95 That's not exactly true either. What actually happened was that Luke and Co. went to a Yuuzhan Vong captured Coruscant because Luke had "a feeling" and found an extremely old and powerful walled off Neutral Force Nexus buried at the bedrock layer under the old Jedi Temple. This was neither a dark or lightside Force Nexus, and had been walled off to contain the raw power from flowing outward for untold eons. There was no temple.
@@readable95 It makes no sense anyway, in Legends at least, for a Sith Temple to be under the Jedi Temple, because it took thousands of years for the Sith to leave Korriban after the Jedi were already well established.
The New Jedi Order is my favorite, because Mara Jade is still alive and Jacen Solo a hero.
That is a badass group of Jedi.Grandmaster Luke, Mara, Solo twins etc..
My favorite is those from the SWTOR we because they're so many and most of them aren't damn fodder. Truly got the most massive Jedi vs Sith battles as well 💀
Legacy Era is my favorite
@@blackshogun272 I love the SWTOR era as well. MY main problem would be that Satele just has al her adventures contained to before the game and then she's resigned to basically just hang out and send the player on all the adventures.
Don't forget Anakin Solo everyone thought he was going to replace Luke and he had the potential to possibly do it also
I'm very interested in what would "currently" be going on in the Star Wars galaxy, since each film starts with "a long time ago in a galaxy far far away".
Lacroix Crater oh, shit
That's one of those questions you just don't ask.
Ah shit here we go. Alot of shit happened, people died and nobody alive is anyone we know and tech is unfuckingbelievable
Maybe the next trilogy could be set centuries after the skywalker saga and have "many years later in a galaxy far far away"
@@caderen5624 it's a bold jump, an entirely new story. But I don't Kathleen Kennedy would be able to come up with a story
If they make an Old Republic trilogy, this should be the opening:
*A very long time ago in a galaxy far,*
*far away....*
And if they make a Legacy era trilogy centuries after the end of The Skywalker Saga, this should be the opening:
Many years later in a galaxy far, far away
@@caderen5624 Yes, I am doing my own trilogy between legacy and the new order it bridges the gasps.
A bit longer time ago in a galaxy far far away...
Old republic trilogy would be dope!!
@@neff___3658 Agreed! That would be awesome!
The similarity in the name Je'daii and Jeedai make me suspect a connection. The Followers of Bogan are never seen again after around 25,000BBY. All other Darksiders stem from the Jedi/Ashla thousands of years later.
What if the Bogan, with their practice of Alchemical Fleshshaping, fled the galaxy to Yuuzhantar, built a new society, and went so far out of balance that they lost the Force like the Rakata? Then, having destroyed their world, and losing much of their history, they began a exodus *back* to the GFFA, where they invaded, fought the Jeedai, and were exiled to Zonoma Sekot, the child of Yuuzhantar.
Well, that's certainly an intresting theory.
Pity that I can't leave more likes here, it deserves more attention
That makes so much sense!
I always thought it was just the Vong mispronouncing "Jedi"
@@juliendacoolien3454 Their mispronounciation is sure phonetically close to the name of the predecessor order.
Luke's New Jedi Order right after the Vong war is unbeatable.
Weren't the Jedi purged for a Second time by Darth Krayt and the Sith which resulted in their near extinction?
The NJO is pretty formidable, but the Sith are extremely powerful and not to be underestimated
Arthur Morgan idk about near extinction
Arthur Morgan Technically that was the third Jedi Purge.
Because 25% are Skywalker's and I still think they'd get stomped by the Jedi of the old republic. Ending after the Battle of Ruusan
@@punishedvenomsnake716 Right after the Vong war the Jedi who lived were all in their prime and all battle tested.Grandmaster Luke, Mara, Jaina and Jacen Solo etc. all strong and powerful.
The Sith started the Mandalorian Wars so Revan would betray the Republic.
The Sith manipulated the Mandalorians.
The Jedi Council was right to not rush into this war especially when it was all a setup.
The Mandalorians were the real victims.
Honestly I love The Jedi and the new Jedi Fallen Order game is amazing makes you feel like a Jedi learning new things and traveling to do pretty much what a Jedi would try to do if they survived
I'd classify the Legacy era as Luke's order trying to settle in a role of institution while avoiding old mistakes. Like the order having a secret backup temple so despite the slaughter they survived in greater numbers and were more poised to strike forth, and their different approach to politics of being a separate faction.

I still hate that legends isn't considered Canon...
It never was canon though, Lucas himself just said that. Reason why it's all considered legends and not part of his original story
@@blackreign351 you're wrong. Legends was ALWAYS considered canon. There are numerous pre-Disney articles confirming this. George Lucas wrote the backstories for several Legends characters most prominent among them being Darth Bane and Starkiller. Do some research.
Kos Juludo no it wasn’t. It was never canon to George Lucas story. Where are you getting this knowledge from?
Kos Juludo I want you to find where George Lucas specifically states “the legends are canon to my Star Wars story”. Please find quotes stating anything of that nature.
A lot of that stuff could easily be reinstated. Disney had no choice but to wipe the slate clean, because there was just too much stuff out there for them to have POSSIBLY been able to work around. As things progress, they will very likely reinstate various aspects and components of Legends into the main Canon once it becomes clear that those things will not conflict with their new stories. They already have done this to some extent.
Frankly, as far as I'm concerned, all the Legends stuff that does NOT directly conflict with the current main Star Wars canon is itself canon until such time as it begins to come into conflict with the various new canon stories...

Legends is the only true canon It had the same combination of mystery and adventure as the original trilogy. It had wonderful characters you loved as heroes and despised as villains while many who were neither remained memorable. It had both galaxy-spanning complexity, and the simple problems of the individual. It had everything we grew to love about Star Wars whereas Disney has consistently failed in that respect. Rogue One and the Mandalorian notwithstanding.

Last time I was this early, Anakin slaughtered the younglings.
Yawn.
What would have happened if UNSC had defeated he covenant forces and captured the forerunner fleet in Halo Wars instead of destroying the ships?. #askeck
Yes!
That’s dependent on how fast they could learn to control them. Cause I guarantee you the covenant aren’t taking that lying down and they don’t have the firepower to take on something like the unyielding hierophant, which I’m sure something like that would be sent there if not that itself to, “cleanse their filth.”
ADARKWIND I know it's a month late, but I can't resist.
Forerunner technology was designed to be used almost immediately upon activation by humans, and also made to be as easy for a human to use as possible. Not only that, but it was coded into human DNA to understand forerunner equipment. The fleet was made for the humans to claim. When they were ready, they were to use them to uphold the mantle they'd inherited, as well as eventually discovering the Domain and every other Forerunner artifact left behind. The ruins of the Forerunners are the birthright of the Humans.
Forerunner ships were immense in power. They were faster, tougher, stronger, bigger, and more advanced than Covenant ships. It was said in Halo 2 that, had Truth lead the Keyship to Earth, the defense fleet wouldn't stand a chance. This is that keyship, bur repurposed for war and multiplied a thousand fold. Not only would Humanity suddenly have technology superior to the Covenant, they'd also have a fleet with the strength to push the Covenant back to Harvest. They likely wouldn't even need to push them back, as the Forerunner technology would allow them to travel to any Forerunner installation around the galaxy they pleased, removing any limits of movement from Humanity, and allowing them to glass, disorient, and annihilate the Covenant.
Mcstompwaffle this is a misconception as while they have shown to turn it on they have many more times shown they have no clue what they’re doing. Moreover unless specifically handled by the librarian and her life workers to be able to do so it is not true that it was made for their ease of access. Especially considering how many times we are told in the lore that she was an anomaly among her species in her way of thinking and that more of them were prone to the original Didacts’ line of thought that humans were inferior and had no right to the mantle. So again my point stands if they have the time to learn and understand the tools left behind they have a chance. However seeing as all covenant tech has some basis in forerunner tech it is just as likely they figure it out.
