My ebike has a steering limiter, and although a lot of people dislike them, they don't really bug me much because my other bike is a DH and I'm just used to the restriction of a tripple clamp
im not a fan that mtbs are more expensive than motorcycles, which are far more complex
If only there wasn’t 5 sizes and specs, carbon, factory forks, electric shifting, and cnc bling parts.
You can get a solid bike for most disciplines for under 4 or 5k.
For that you get a a honda grom. Or a trail 150f.
You really have to love it I think, I’m sure u could play basketball ball for a lot cheaper
Great format and topic!. Agree with most of the comments. Just a couple of things:
Weight shedding matters, hence where great strength is not required, the large bolts are sized down to the minimum necessary to do the job and different bolt sizes are a must. Same with saddle gussets- no material for useless spaces means lighter seat. Taping is ok, but it's not protecting the dropper seat post from mud which ruins its' O-ring seals. A short light plastic fender attached below the collar will protect both (the post and the crotch). Lastly a couple of cable ties attached to the inner cable's housing with 2-5" loose ends (so they press against inside of the frame's tube) will silence the rattling of it.

Lol.. Threaded BB's don't require removal tools like Press Fit.. shows him using a removal tool to remove the threaded BB.
FWIW all you need is a block of wood and a hammer for Press Fit.
All really good annoyances and I agree with all but the fork air chart as I take all of those stickers off the second I open the box. Really good list though! Freakin' creaks....... 🤬😳😥😡🤬🤬

Screaming brakes are the most annoying and the array of different Torx and Allen mixes on them
Getting the front wheel skewer out to take the wheel off, such a PITA with a heavy ebike.

Ok list, but I won't buy a bike with a threaded BB, and by Christ the "hate" for them is idiotic. Well over 9 time out of 10, any alleged BB problems, aren't BB problems. Of the remaining 10%, about 60% of those are caused by badly made BB interfaces. I.e. bike companies not being able to make a round hole, in spec. I assure you, if there is a problem is a press fit bearing, it will be as bad with a threaded.
Press fit is simpler, cheaper, lighter and just as easy to service. Any company putting a threaded BB on a bike in 2024 is screaming "we can't do QA".
Further, threaded BB's into carbon frames is certifably idiotic. You have to bond a alloy sleeve into a carbon shell, with all the associated problems, just to advertise you can't build frames properly.
And, where do we end? Should suspension bearing be threaded into a frame? Head tube?

@@MBRmagazine No. The people don't hate pressfit. Like steel frames and rim brakes, two things that are certifiably awful, a tiny, very loud minority on social media, amplified by 'the algorithm' think PF are bad, generally because they're too incompetent to work out there are several other factors at play.
And I repeat myself. Anyone who thinks threaded bb's into a carbon frame is a good solution is a certifiable idiot. It is literally the worst of both worlds.
