I would definitely say that creating content on vehicles like this that are several years old are still valuable. There's still plenty of people looking at used EV options, they become even more appealing after they depreciate in value in the first 2-3 years.

As someone who is on his second Polestar 2 lease, I have to concur with these results. I have tried Pilot Assist maybe half a dozen times just to see what it was like and found using it to be no less work than hand driving the car, so I hand drive the car.

I think it’s fair to say that Pilot Assist (I have the Volvo version) is termed a Driver Assistance System. It works just fine on the highway within it’s obvious limits, and doesn’t pretend to replace the driver. Sure, there are ADAS candidates out there, but being seduced into thinking they replace the driver is delusional. Musk has full ADAS in his cars, but it’s called a chauffeur, and he can well afford one. Until the regulating bodies determine these systems can be used as full advanced driver replacements, it’s better to accept them for what they are - Advanced Driver Assistants. Judging by how long it’s taking the NHTSA is taking to get its act together on something as simple as Adaptive Driving Lights, I wouldn’t hold my breath.

The gentle alerts are better. You don't want the driver being shocked awake and suddenly yanking the steering wheel. The way Polestar does it is a lot safer.

My polestar 3 is coming early July. I’m so happy. Confirmation it has landed in canada. It’s in Vancouver. Landed 2 weeks ago. Being shipped on a transport truck now to Ontario. Then once it’s in Toronto it’s getting the software update then I can grab it. Per my rep. Pick up early July BUT polestar is known as a “drivers vehicle”. I bought it to drive it! I didn’t buy it so it could drive its self. I also said no need for the LiDAR. Which wouldn’t come until 2025 anyways and I want it NOW. Polestar is an awesome brand.

I had a 22 dual motor with pilot and plus packages and loved the adaptive cruise aspect of pilot assist, but I never really trusted the lane centering. Plus with how much torque you had to put on the wheel to keep it active you might as well just drive the car. Now I have a base model 24 single motor and I miss my adaptive cruise, but I don't miss the dual motors. Despite having over 100 less horsepower it barely feels slower. Plus I love having 80 miles more range.

Love the car but I didn’t have high expectations for the ADAS system test! 😂 It’s fine as an adaptive cruisecontrol, but the steering assistance keeps you on your toes! At least I don’t feel like I get too complacent when using it.

After seeing your notice of the May lease deals, I leased a Polestar 2 (2024). Driving it yesterday on the 605 freeway in So California, I noticed the lane keeping was pretty "I might or I might not," despite the lane keeping icons lighting up on the dash display. Adaptive Cruise seemed to work well. With all those sensors, maybe a software update will improve things (fingers crossed).

12:33 " in lane repositioning " how is this offset from the middle-of-the-lane described by most ppl in general ? I wish these systems would allow a certain manual offset away from center and would MAINTAIN that offset for you on long stretches of ruts and small potholes without fighting the steering torque the entite time, as long as the lanes were wide enough

I was using the autopilot in the xc40 recharge with 400hp in the city in Germany. It was nice, until the car in front slowed down, so the autopilot slowed down. Then the car turned right and the autopilot was like, let’s go, full throttle, I got spooked quite a bit.

I drive a P*2 and find the adaptive cruise control to be solid, but the Pilot Assist to be next-to-useless. It's way too naggy on straight roads. The only thing I really use it for is if I quickly need to take my hands off the wheel, e.g. to open a drink while driving.

I was able to be distracted on my phone while on my commute home on local roads (eyes off several seconds at a time) as long as I knew what its limitations were on my specific roads, but always needed to add some SLIGHT steering input Torque to 1) monitor what its doing in a certain curve, and 2) help the car decide to stay in what lane before a lane split occurred.

Interesting 15:36 your right most lanes with towing vehicles cause the most road damage.
Here, the worst pot holes around Milpitas/Fremont,CA are from the HOV lanes especially just where heavy EV cars accelerates for lane changes (restricted with double lines usually)

  • @Vamanos46

21:32 collision avoidance of something stationary by jumping into the left lane (even if means jumping into opposite direction lane without any cars). I have never seen this example in real/ video, just animation from Volvo, never had any close encounters like that in my prior Volvo so far.

Answer: depends how they BRAND it. If you brand your ADAS to handle 1) bad weather / rainy foggy night, 2) selective roads can Allow both hands off AND eyes off, then Volvo EX90 and Rivian R2/R3 with Luminar /Lidar systems are on the right track.
