    I too am enjoying your films. Being 69, German-American with a healthy imagination, I have no problems putting myself into the cab with the driver and chatting as we both watch the scenery flow by. My favorite times are early evenings, passing by the families' homes and wondering "what's for dinner?"

    One thing I always love is the SBB chime and station announcements on Swiss trains. And for the rail enthusiast with a Swiss rail pass or eurail pass you can always find a train going where you want to go about every half hour or so. Or hop off a train and go to next platform and hop on another and away you go! For me, best rail travel experience. And you get to look out the window at the beautiful Swiss countryside. Definitely a bucket list thing you have to do if you’ve never been there.

    Man merkt, dass das Video in der Ferienzeit und entgegen der Lastrichtung gedreht wurde: So wenige Leute sieht man sonst ja nie auf der S2... 😊 Finde es richtig toll, dass man alle Durchsagen gut hören kann. Like und Abo von mir!

      Speaking at least two of our countries main languages (German, French, Italian) is necessary to become a driver, depending on where you're stationed it's one of them fluent and one or even both of the other languages at least on a basic level.

    Why in Enge and Wiedikon the overhead electric wire is replaced by a solid electric rail? (Thanks for your awesome videos)

    • @RailwayEmotions
      @RailwayEmotions  Před 5 lety

      It's quite new, only a few months old. I suppose the old catenary had to be replaced anyway and those overhead rails are quite common in tunnels. I can only guess why they are preferred over standard catenary, probably easier since it's not necessary to tense it, no weights or springs required and more stable.

    A very enjoyable journey through Zurich. Tell me, despite the train announcements of the train being non stop afer stopping at a particular station, why is it stopping at the other stations? It was fun running alongside the Zurich lake though. I felt like jumping into the lake and swimming in it.

    • @RailwayEmotions
      @RailwayEmotions  Před 5 lety +1

      There are different S-services and also Intercity trains on these tracks and some, like the S2, are "sped up" so to say and only stop at certain stations to serve the bigger places quicker. Other trains stop everywhere, they serve the smaller stations and places, Intercitys stop nowhere in this area. It's quite complicated and very well thought through.

      The part after Zurich, yes, except direct trains to Chur use the Zimmberg Base Tunnel, other than that, it is the same route.
