Description: Ashtanga yoga instructor Eddie Stern interviews yogi businessman Russell Simmons on the role of yoga in business and life at large. Known for being a hip hop mogul, Simmons' feats in the music industry, fashion, and even politics launched him into the high powered world of business early on in his career. Since discovering yoga and developing his practice, he began placing much more emphasis on service and community development. Watch him describe his journey!
URBAN YOGIS is a unique documentary series featuring stories on the transformative power of yoga and meditation. Beautifully shot, inspiring, and heartfelt - the series delves into the lives of cancer survivors, inner-city youth dealing with violence in their communities, recovering addicts, artists, youth in detention facilities, and more. Comedian Russell Brand, Grammy-nominated musician Moby, "yogi" businessman Russell Simmons, and author/doctor Deepak Chopra also share their stories and insights. Renowned yoga teacher Eddie Stern serves as our host and guide to the stories of these urban yogis.

I love the integration that Mr. Simmons has continued to maintained between what seem to be (at least) two differing cultures: hip hop and the culture of yoga. I am a product of the early days of hip hop, and I've found Mr. Simmons practicality about yoga is awesome.

Lovely message, thanks. But, why, oh, why, the camera moves as much as it does? If we're trying to help people to "focus & calm down" isn't it counterintuitive & eventually counterproductive to keep shifting the angle/view/etc. etc.... I've seen a few of your clips by now and, though I like the intention of the series, the style of filming is starting to disturb & annoy. Any chance to get into an alignment between preaching a bit more stillness and applying it in the video-shooting/editing too?
