Singer/songwriter Moby discusses his yoga practice and the ways it has changed his life over the years. With the intent to avoid the competitiveness that often goes along with yoga culture, Moby says, "I never want to be good at yoga." Instead, he wants his practice to be enjoyable, to improve his short-term and long-term health, and to bring him closer to spiritual awakening. See him in conversation here with his longtime friend and yoga instructor, Eddie Stern!
URBAN YOGIS is a unique documentary series featuring stories on the transformative power of yoga and meditation. Beautifully shot, inspiring, and heartfelt - the series delves into the lives of cancer survivors, inner-city youth dealing with violence in their communities, recovering addicts, artists, youth in detention facilities, and more. Comedian Russell Brand, Grammy-nominated musician Moby, "yogi" businessman Russell Simmons, and author/doctor Deepak Chopra also share their stories and insights. Renowned yoga teacher Eddie Stern serves as our host and guide to the stories of these urban yogis.

I LOVE YOU MOBY!!! When my big brother first had me listen to the album Everything Is Wrong about 14 years (give or take) ago-it completely changed my life! I became a vegan & thought about life around me much differently & became hooked on electronic music. Just wanna say thanks!
    Peace-Love-Unity-Respect!!

I had the pleasure of meeting Moby at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival several years back. One of the sweetest guys you’d ever meet.

Totally agree with this guy and the competitive side of yoga in studios.

i enjoyed both of these interviews with moby tremendously. i can see how yoga has softened him. i love his music, perceived him as a bit arrogant (maybe his on drugs phase...?) before but now 'on' yoga he is just pure sweetness. i would have loved to hear how moving to LA has contributed also, since he lived in NY for such a long time. great work, Eddie, and it's so nice to see you too!. I used to practice in your studio years ago. xo.

That's so great - "many yoga years to come." It's wonderful you've set that intention for yourself!

I believe the universe at times has a way of nudging "souls" in the right direction or toward a more enlightened path but for allot of us we're so far from this light that its hard to see or never even see glimpses of it in 1 life time let alone many, e.g. in Moby's case he was exposed to yoga years ago and then left the practice but it I believe that folks who want change in their life or search for deeper meaning through meditation, yoga, etc, once exposed to this path however brief, it has a way of coming back to you. I had a similar experience I was exposed to basic sun salutations by my wife and had a connection to it immediately before that I was doing martial arts. but I left yoga practice and returned to it severely years later with ashtanga and then "zombie life" got in the way again and I left yoga again, but I have come back to yoga practice and now its here to stay. with out change something sleeps inside of us and most of us are asleep or living like "zombies" :)

I love how he talks about feeling competitive in yoga. I see that a lot and have felt that way, and that means I have lost the connection between body and mind.

Peace is divine and natural for us. Think positive, live in peace with yourself and others. Feel the peace and spread it throughout.
Do not stress, relax, no worries. Send healing intentions to Earth.
Appreciate Mother Nature, say thanks to nature and the animal kingdoms.
Appreciate small things around you, slow the time..
Eathy ealthy and life energy food...Think positive, think peace, think love..

As a yogi that started young, I say go for it. You will be amazed. Find a good foundation class, something intimate so the teacher can be focused on you. I went to a small class not those fancy over 40 people classes lol.
