I came to yoga with horrible back pain over 3 years ago(caused by insane level of stress) and now i am certified instructor myself :) Yoga has changed my life! Namaste!
It is great to know mam! I want to tell (i think u may already know it ) that it's very important to use actual names used in sanskrit while doing yoga with understanding their meaning otherwise the actual result won't come out. It is really a divine science.
Namaste😊🧘♂️🕉️
try to read our veda's & Upanishads manny our ancient scriptures are gem for today's world :)
And what happened to your back pain ?

For me yoga is like a factory reset button. Whenever some thing goes wrong with my body I simply turn to yoga.
Great metaphor. Thanks!
Yes. True. Doing every day yoga is like factory reset , cleansing body and refreshing mind , then we will be ready to handle any situation on that particular day.
Thats exactly true. When a baby is born, my guru says the newborn is a perfect yogi. Yoga afterwards returns us to that garvastha state. The basis of life. Womb state.
Ankala Chaithanya Well that's you. No one cares, pretty sure you're Christian or Muslim. Yoga is older that any of those religions do your opinion is pretty much worthless
Yoga saved my life- pure & simple. I’ve been practicing for 50 years. It’s the best thing ever!
Wow, That's amazing!!! So motivational, I hope to be able to look back and say the same thing someday
BLESS YOU. MAY YOU LIVE FOREVER.
Melinda k. Wow 50 years! I've been practicing for 5 months now 😳 loong way to go.
Would love to hear more about that!
I suffered migraines and head aches for years.Twenty years ago I embarked on the yoga journey I have not a headache since 2001.Now at 80 am still practicing yoga almost daily.
A good documentary.. I am an alcoholic (65 years old) I am now letting go of my thanks to yoga & vipassana meditation. I have now committed to journey by bicycle to Rikishi India via, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmawr, Vietnam, Laos,China, Malaysia and to India....
A big undertaking for a 65 yearold who's healthy, never mind a drunk...
Yoga & vipassana meditation have/are making it possible....👍👣🚲 Oh, a raw food vegetarian diet...
Lastly, I am down to one small beer a day...
Yoga and meditation is a great path to 🚲&👣
Peace to all who read this..

One thing I've noticed about almost all yoga enthusiasts is they speak very calmly and deliberately. They're never in a rush. I'll be doing my first session this week.
Whenever I feel really sad, and I'm crying, with thoughts of hurting myself I immediately start doing yoga.
Great idea 💡 I’m going to do that too. Thank you 🙏

Being Indian , I'm really happy to see foreigners adopting yoga as lifestyle. This is the spirituality that our ancestors kept as secret and now it's out open for all. Yoga was never a secret and while it's benefits for humanity is apparent, for it to be decontextualised is harmful to those who revere its sanctity.
Yoga originated in Ancient Kemet, which is what Egypt is now, not India sorry (not sorry) to burst your bubble
Just done my first yoga session since having emergency spinal surgery and being diagnosed with a rare spinal Condition. I AM SO PROUD I GOT TO A POINT WHERE I COULD PHYSICALLY COMPLETE A 20 MINUTE SESSION!! I am so glad I did it.....I will never go a day without doing yoga!

Came across a translation of Ancient Hindu Yoga!! It was amazing...I am amazed by how amazing and scientific Hinduism and its ancient practices are.
I am glad that the ancient wisdom of INDIA is being adapted all over the world now..
Yes! Absolutely. Great Pranams to all wisdom keepers, treasure keepers, teachers and sages! Thank you.
I agree, but the same thing is also happening with ancient indigenous WISDOM of the Americas.
@Life as we know it It is. I know that was supposed to be a jab. Get yourself informed and more importantly watch how this corona pandemic is gonna reset everything.
@bj - INDIA has adopted a lot of ancient wisdom coming from other countries aswell.
Eg, Britain taught INDIA a thing or two.
Plus, not all of INDIA practices Yoga.
@Life as we know it India was the richest country in the world for 2000 years. (Pls refresh your memory about why Columbus and Vasco da Gama were looking for India.) Poverty is a very recent experience due to loot and plunder by Westerners and Muslims, and then socialism for first 50 years of Independence. It is only a matter of time before Indians become rich, restoring to their natural state of wealth and cultural abundance. Indian culture is richest in the world.
I've been on Yoga with Adriene's daily schedule for a couple months now, and just recently started doing it outside. Feeling the warmth of the sunshine and breathing in the fresh air adds a lot to the experience too!
I've been doing Adriene's daily yoga for three or four years now and I'm completely off all of my behavioral medications for bipolar and depression. Keep at it! Yoga is an amazing medicine.
I started only a week ago. But seriously, her class is amazing. Especially the meditation part. It really helps me reducing my anxiety and stress.
I do my own yoga and make up a routine as I go.
But I too love doing yoga outside, especially at night when it's warmer and I can do my yoga under the stars and the moon.
In the winter months I like sunset and only if it's really cold then I do yoga in my lounge by the fire.
Oftentimes I'm joined by one of my cats too 😁
I love Adriene! She is a good teacher.🙏
I have undergone a total hip replacement surgery at 18. I started doing yoga after that, I gained back my mobility, adduction, rotation, many other limitations that doctors thought I will never overcome! Hari OM

Happy for you
God bless.. I’ve also healed every thing bad this happening with my body with the yoga.. it took 2 months and now it’s been year i do it everyday
Ever since a lockdown is declared in India I've been practicing yoga for about 45min every single day without a break. It's started impacting me in a very positive way which I experienced not only physically but also mentally .Though I'm working from home due to the corona pandemic but I feel more focused and productive at work, I feel more energetic and lively, I speak to my parents more often and I spend time with myself. I'm into a bit stressful profession and yoga really helps me to stay calm. Besides yoga I also try to meditate for about 15min but unable to be regular at it. I feel my perspective towards life and nature is slowly changing. Yoga is a way of life indeed. 🙏🇮🇳
I appreciate your attitude towards yoga and life. I think yoga is about total revolution of our mind, body and soul.

How long did it take for you to benefit from yoga after doing it everyday?
Also isn’t yoga incorporated with meditation?
I'm a relative beginner at Yoga having come to practice daily for the last 5 weeks. I came to practice because of terrible pain in my hips and hamstrings, to the extent where walking up stairs or hills was extremely painful, and the pain was waking me up at night. Pain medication and conventional physiotherapy had little effect and I was worried about long term pain medication use. I couldn't even put my socks on without pain.
Eventually I hired a yoga teacher to come to my house and she recommended Yoga with Adriene for practicing between our sessions. After just 2 weeks I began to notice some serious benefits. I am doing an average of a 15-20 minute practice every morning. After 5 weeks, I have noticed the following changes:
Every muscle in my body, from head to toe, has gained strength and flexibility. I have significant reduction in pain to the extent where I haven't used medication for 3 weeks. I can look over my shoulder without pain and can put my socks on standing up (so my balance is improving too, I've NEVER been able to do that!). Yesterday was a great day because I skipped up the stairs without thinking, then burst out crying with happiness because I can't remember the last time I was able to do that! My hamstrings are still tight and I know it's going to take time for them to feel completely normal, but every day I notice little things that would have caused me pain before, no longer do. My posture and silhouette are both improved (being 50, my figure was getting a little saggy and my posture was ALWAYS poor).
But the effects are mental as well as physical... I seem to be organically making better choices when it comes to food, and I'm drinking more water too. I use the breathing to calm and ground me when I'm feeling stressed, I am just happier all over because of the reduction in pain and I feel proud of my achievement of actually showing up at my mat every morning. I feel a huge shift in my psyche from being worried and stressed about a future filled with pain, to feeling younger and actually excited about my life. I never would have believed these changes would be possible after such a short amount of time so if you're reading this, what do you have to lose by giving it a go?
I'm now on a mission to tell anyone who will listen.... give Yoga a try. My yoga teacher says if you do Yoga once a week, it will change your mind. Do it twice a week, it will change your body. Do it every day, and it will change your life.
Love and light to all
@Jessica Wilson You will look back in a few weeks and thank ypurself, I promise you. Good luck!

I'm a 26 year old Hispanic male. I use to believe things such as yoga and biking where a typical White/hipster activity wh couldnt handle stress. Boy was I wrong. I finally came to a tipping point at 24 years old when I was working long hours and trying to manage a new family. Being so young the stress finally hit me hard and I began having anxiety and starting to go into depression. I saw many doctors but none really help me completely and my distrust in medications for depression lead me to find the joy of being out doors as a cyclist and the stress reliever of yoga. I couldnt believe what a change this has done for me and has opened my mind to understand others and their differences.

Shakir Zakerullah - You can lift your own body weight anywhere on the road - at a truck stop - by doing lots of push ups and jumping as high as you can from a low squat position and if you can find a strong bar, doing chin ups. I was a champion wrestler and never lifted weights. Only push ups, chin ups, sit ups, jumping high, lots of stretching, sprints and medium-long running. A joyful mind above petty squabbles. Cheers! I love how she talks about creating space in the body and space in the mind.
As an autistic person this non literal description means absolutely nothing to me
@@christiantaylor1495 Thank you for sharing your perspective, as I would never know this as a non-autistic person. Being a content creator myself, your insight helps to broaden my lens in regards to how I can better deliver my information to autistic individuals as well. Peace.
@@KingaGorski But what does it mean
@@christiantaylor1495 I think it means creating actual space between the cells of your body on a microscopic level. And creating space between the blood vessels and channels of the body, such as the lymphatic system. It also applies to the creation of space between the denser aspects of your body, e.g. the fascia and muscles, allowing your body to open and get rid of blockages.
In terms of the mind, yoga can create space between your thoughts through harnessing the breath. This allows you to realise that you are the observer of your thoughts and emotions (the energetic body), and may eventually lead you to realise that you, at the soul level, are not your thoughts, emotions or even your body. You are the observer within. I hope this helps.
"Ultimately Yoga is about self realisation" 👍👌
Problem is that awareness of videos like these don't have 4 billion views.
It will have effect on people only if we're practicing and spreading it. By doing so, it'd make the others see the difference and great results (since people follow only role models, not theories nor words) ;-) (y)
We need to continue sharing this information. Unfortunately not everyone is open to listen, however I'm a strong believer that once the seed is planted, beautiful things happen to those who are ready to change... 🙏
Because most of the people still not aware about this
And few are intentionally spreading venom on yoga as yoga makes demon enters you like that

Having practiced yoga since October of 2019, I fell off during the beginning of quarantine. For the last six weeks however, I have practiced every day with few exceptions. Needless to say life is much better when I am practicing yoga. I look and feel great, my anxiety is under control, and I look forward to practicing each day. Take care of yourself and take care of each other.
I was a chain smoker. Thanks to Yoga,. I stopped completely. At 62, I am able to do Hasthasana!
Wow, I hope it will help me w dropping the nasty smoking habit, thanks
Well, I started doing yoga every day during the quarantine, and it changed my reaction to the lockdown. Not only do I feel physically healthier, but doing yoga helped me not feel stressed and depressed while quarantining alone. Instead, I looked forward to my yoga/meditation/kirtan practice every day and felt more creative and energetic after. It made a huge difference.
I live with a friend who’s on his 50s and he mentioned that he gets anxiety time to time.. few months ago he called me late at night to take him to the hospital because his blood pressure was high.. I practice yoga very often ( I want to become yoga teacher) so I told my friend to calm down and start breathing, but he insisted to go to the hospital. We were almost 5 hours at the ER. When we arrived home I told him that we will do a small routine easy yoga, my friend never practiced yoga before. Later that day after our meal we were talking and yoga came out on the subject and I told him “ok, we will do a meditation class, but check your blood pressure first” his blood pressure was 160/95, we started meditating. After 20 minutes I asked him to check his blood pressure, it went down to 125/74, he was impressed.. I suffer of hypertension and I feel the difference after my yoga sequences, I still take my medication, but yoga is the greatest medicine 🙏🏻💞
I love yoga with all my heart, I'm so grateful that it is part of my life. I don't need any scientific proof to believe in its benefits, I'm only watching this because it's a good way for sceptical people to get into this wonderful practice, thank you for this. Namaste!

Mary Abdel yes of course, absolutely, you get more flexibility and energy every time you practice it, I speak from experience, keep it up, namaste!

That was so wonderfully put!
Just started a simple yoga program every morning (20 minutes) to help manage the effects of trauma. There is something in this !!! I feel very different afterwards...
Yoga is very misinterpreted..
Yoga is originally known as "Astanga Yoga" ..means, there are 8 limbs of yoga. Out of those 8 limbs, one is upayoga , or the physical yoga that is so popular now.
But the aim of Yoga , as defined by patanjali , " is the complete cessation of mind "...
The exercises are just the beginning part ..it's the 3rd level among the 8 levels..
Dharana ( effort) , Dhyana ( no effort) , and ultimately, samadhi ( cessation of mind) is the aim of yoga .

Can you just imagine how much developed the INDIAN SUBCONTINENT was, more than thousands of years ago in the fields of inner engineering, spirituality, science and medicines- that they developed such relaxing and curing body postures and mind calming Sanskrit mantras that are a key to the cure of almost every problem surrounding people - and now after so many thousands of years finally the people of the rest of the world are coming to know about the benefits of Yoga. But still many of the aspects of Yoga remain lost in time - so to have a complete understanding about all the aspects of Yoga, one needs to read all the ancient scriptures of India, basically all the VEDAS.
There are many people who are practicing yoga and are getting benifitted from yoga- but they don't know that Yoga originated thousands of years before in INDIA and they even criticise India because they have many misconceptions about India. The main thing that I want to say is that if you are learning and benifitting from something- you should also appriciate and have a detailed conception about its origin, because if you don't know where you came from how will you appriciate where you are going.
I hope people reading this comment will understand the benefit of knowing this.
However, I feel proud and indeed very glad that the ANCIENT Wisdom of INDIA is being practised and being adopted by people all over the world now.

Thanks for sharing this. I think so many people are missing the vital point when it comes to Yoga . Most people thing it as if it is only the Asanas. However in truth Yoga is much more than that. Patanjali describes 8 limbs in the Yoga Sutras and Asana is just one limb of it. All the limbs actually lead one to have access to the universal mind and gives one the ability communicate with it and learn. Thats where Samyama is needed and as everyone that actually read the Yoga Sutras will know Patanjali doesn't share more than couple sentences about it. I know only one system online ( there may be more that I am not aware of ) that actually helps someone regardless on their level to reach to that communication. It is an online school called "Drukama" . You can check their videos on CZcams or Fbook if interested. Blessings and once again thank you for the share !

I have had anxiety and a lack of emotional resilience for years... we can blame our life changes but it was fundamentally my way of coping that needed adjustment. I have been an intense exerciser for years and while this keeps me strong and healthy, it doesn't work as well as yoga when you're having a 'moment'. The practice of yoga itself concentrates on patience (holding the poses and working on becoming more flexible), emotional resilience (staying in the pose when you want to come out of it) and breathing which isa mechanism that really does work... you MUST have faith in the breathe, its work is impressive!!!!!!!

F.I.S.H Paragraph 9. The goal of life is self-realization, that is, to remember who we really are. We have lived for so long in this material universe in ignorance of our true nature that the process of realizing who we are will most likely take many incarnations. This quest for perfection is the most noble endeavour possible.
One who is aware of his/her true nature overcomes all perceived suffering by constant remembrance of him/herself as an eternal spiritual being - beyond the mundane relativism of this phenomenal sphere. This is what it means to be "enlightened". Such a saintly person is extremely rare indeed.

The problem is, people are associating Asanas as Yoga(Which is a part of the science). But, Yoga is not only the Asanas, but it is also a much deeper philosophy, which connects you to your inner self, simply said makes you introvert. Lets you ponder on what is actually causing the pain(physical, mental, psychological etc), and then the healing starts. Sadly, people only know dynamic Yoga of Sri Iyengar (not offending) but not much people know about gems like Kaivalyadhama, where Scientific Research is done on Yoga.
I would also like to mention that I've attended a lecture by Mr. Satbir Khalsa and he is a brilliant man! Hope to learn more from such stalwarts.

Awesome video! I'm gonna start my Yoga practice from today!
I am proud of my India
And you absolutely have every reason to be. I love India. Its gifts to the world are innumerable and beyond measure. Thank you to all the treasure keepers of India for this divine wisdom!
Heartwarming to know that yoga asanas are practiced by millions all over the world. It really speaks to the way it makes one feel and the (w)holistic benefits. As an Ayurvedic Practitioner, I am witnessing how the popularity of the asanas eventually led people to Yoga's sister science Ayurveda (the science of self-healing) - what a great trend - developing the understanding and practicing how to care for oneself, building one's immunity, and health of body, mind & spirit. May the yogic sciences continue to spread far and wide. Aum Namah Shivaya ~
Videos like these are so important. Thank you for posting Laura.
yogi has been a gift to me in just 5weeks my depression and stress is all gone. Am now at peace with myself n I sleep better.
I was just wondering if I should take this video down. You've answered my questions: As long as it resonates positively with one person, it is worth it! Thank you.
I used to suffer constant head aches and migraine attacks. In
2003 I embarked on the yoga journey and have not had a headache since.
Fabulous! Thanks for sharing this Dawn.
WE WILL BE ETERNALLY DEBTED TO GREAT MAHARISHIS FOR GIVING YOGA. CONGRATULATIONS LAURA FOR THIS WONDERUL VIDEO ON YOGA.
Arun, Thank you. Yes we are eternally grateful and so very fortunate. 🙏🏽
I am a Christian and we release stress and utilize the same principles as yoga in meditation and prayer. I have tried Yoga and it's a great physical workout for me, but the spiritual aspect for me a Christian is in Prayer.
Prayer is same as mantra is in Hinduism.... Prayer is yoga of devotion.....but again yoga with meditation is a different way for the same goal...
There is no contradiction...only path and means is different....

this is great, from my perspective if you are involved in any of the energy arts you are dealing with all of the same energies and principles, TaiChi, qigong, yoga, whirling dervish practices and all of the other internal energy sciences
Amazing! Thank you.
Beautiful Hinduism, Eternal Religion !
It's not Hinduism and we Indians didn't have a religion untill Britishers forced themselves into our lands. This is just the right way to live life. Indians have more of a diet than religion i.e. a way of life.
@@BhumikaBhavya Yes, we follow Dharma, not religion. #SanatanDharma
One of the best videos I've seen. Beautiful!!!!
Thank you so much. This video illustrates so well how this has saved my life.

Very informative. Thank you very much for the beneficial learnings of your documentary!!!
Amazing and wonderfully explained. Thank you
I was morbidly obese due to medications at the start of 2020 and i knew i had to make a change.
As a former Judoka i had alot of knowledge of Asian natural medicine, meditation and spirituality, but growing up in an all white very homogenus community i felt alone in regards to it and didnt dare to practice it actively.
That was until a few years ago when i started doing it on a regular basis, mainly Yin, hatha and kundalini (kundalini only a few times).
Losing Weight meant that i had to endure the many side effects that a low calorie diet causes.
I only ate about 300-400 calories a day while i was walking upto 2-3 Miles every single day. It was hell
BUT
This is where yoga changed the whole game for me and it gave me both a mood boost, self control and a serene inner peace. It made me gain control and neutralize crawings and intense negative emorions.
YOGA IS AWESOME ❤️ 😊
YOU are awesome! Thanks for this inspiring story.
Good for you to lose that weight. But the way you did it was extremely unhealthy. Limiting your body to that few of calories will do permanent damage. If you stuck around around 1500-2000 calories per day and burned 2500+ calories per day (which would be very easy to accomplish at that heavy of a weight), you would suffer far less damage. Yes it would take about 2x-3x as long to get to a healthy BMI, but you would not damage your body as much in the process. Either way it’s impressive that you had that level of discipline! Props to you.
Oh and also medication don’t make someone obese. It was 100% undoubtably your own doing. I’m surprised you were able to find such a strong level of discipline without owning up to that fact. But at the end of the day what you did was very impressive and deserves all the praise in the world, even though you weren’t completely honest with yourself.
Very well made. Thank you Laura!
Love this! Thank you for sharing! ❤
A Big thank you for the link driven me to great topics (Yoga, meditation and others practices that I use to)!
That was a great lot of information, delivered in grace
Great clip, really inspiring. I'm teaching again since COVID began and have felt inspired to start a you tube channel to help keep me focused on the power of the practices while sharing the many gifts I have received over a lifetime journey with yoga. The research and science component is adding so many new layers of interest in our society and I see greater promise than ever for how it can really help transform daily lives and free us from depression, anxiety, stress and so much more. Mahalo and Namaste
Yoga is amazing, connected with my soul❤️
Great presentation compiled Laura....God bless!
just started yoga a week ago and it changed my life...
What it changed ur life within a week?
We got to get serious about yoga
Get serious
I find it fascinating that we need to prove what has been around for thousands of years and used by millions, even billions of people. Of course Yoga "works." The most important thing is to find the right Yoga for your age, body type, health condition and cultural background. Yoga is the hope for humanity!
I agree
Yes, totally agree. Why do we need science to prove that it works? That it has existed for well over 2500 years and is practised widely across the world is solid proof that it works.
It definitely improve mental health I healed my anxiety using yoga
@@SG-fk8zh 100% me too. That's great!
i've been doing yoga for 4 years and this is very relaxing. i am an architecture student and i was doing research for my new project competition which is about 'locked in a house in quarantine, what do you do to spend a day' and i thougt the best way spend time is doing yoga and finding your own depth.
Such a great video to play after a yoga video that ended with a very short shavasana. I laid back and took this all in. Wonderful.
