  • Using my 2023 Ford F-350 Super Duty Powerstroke as a test vehicle I test out an air dam on the top of my tool box in order to help air flow to the gooseneck trailer. Hoping for better fuel mileage.

This is dope, looking forward to seeing what happens and what improvements you can make

Don't ditch it! Put a bunch of wool tufts on it and see what's happening. That'll give you a good idea where to go next

idk if I want to know how bad the air is moving around this thing, but good idea regardless. haha. Might have to try it out to see what's going on.

@@KrebsbachRacingfwiw, we tried a pool noodle trick on the back of our van, and saw an immediate decrease in mileage.
We attribute the drop to the gap between the van and trailer (which is significantly larger than from your cab to the trailer).
I suspect, but could be totally wrong, that the gap between the cab and the diverter is more of the issue than from the diverter to the trailer.

I wonder if it was adding that much downforce that it hurt the mpg’s 🤔
Edit: Nevermind, you said that too lol

Yup, one of my theories. Probably more to do with just not smoothing the air well enough though. creating more turbulence than there was before.
