To this day, this is still my favorite sounding street car. Nothing sounds as amazing as a V8 IMO! This is the best sounding V8 my ears have ever heard. In early 2002 sometime, a buddy of mine bought a Sonic Blue '03 Cobra. He got his Cobra so early that the chrome 17" wheels he ordered it with didn't come with the car lol. He had to wait like over six months or so before they were delivered to the dealer. I was driving a very rare, modded and extremely fun, silver frost with blue leather interior, '99 SVT Contour 5 speed manual with a Duratec 24v DOHC 2.5L V6 with 200 HP when stock. It had a KKM True-Rev CAI that grabbed air from the fender like the OEM. I made a custom heat shield blocking the left side and back of the open cone filter from the engine heat. It was far enough away anyway where it didn't need it badly until it got hot outside, but it definitely ensured and definitely helped to prevent the filter from sucking in hot air from the motor. It also had a Diablosport Predator 93 octane tune with a raised 7300 rev limiter from 6950... I shifted at 7100 at WOT. It also had an SHO shop larger 2.5" Y-Pipe, NGK Iridium spark plugs, custom MSD I believe, plug wires, a larger throttle body, larger 2.5" Borla exhaust system, Centerforce DF Clutch, Fidanza Aluminum flywheel, BAT 1" lower springs and strut mounts, Koni shocks 18" Enkei RS5 lightweight wheels with 225/40ZR Falcon Azenis tires all around, X-Drilled/Slotted rotors with Hawk Ceramic pads and SS brake lines. I had other light airflow mods, but it was so long ago that I can't remember. Anyway, later in 2003 we went to a dyno day meet at Mustang Magic on Long Island and my 3,000 pound SVT Contour put down 191 HP at the wheels @ 7000 rpm. Back then that wasn't bad for a fairly light and rather small naturally aspirated 2.5L V6 with a 4.06 geared manual trans sedan. A stock '99 SVT Contour puts down 165-170 HP at the wheels. Anyway, my friends bone stock '03 Cobra put down 372 HP @ the wheels with a very underrated 390 HP @ the crank factory rating lol. Good times.
I still can't get over the sound of superchargers, they're just incredible. If I ever find one in decent shape it'll make a hell of a replacement for my SS/SC.
As a sophmore in high school, I drooled when this cobras past by.. then this vid came out and I knew I had to have one, now I'm 25 and a proub owner of a 10th Ann KB cobra all because of this video
