- Today we are talking about the controversial movie, "Blair Witch Project". It still holds the Guinness World Record for most profitable movie compared to how much it cost to make. It is said to have made $11,000 for every $1. And yet the actors in the movie were only paid $8,000 and struggled to book gigs after the movie came out because the world genuinely thought they were missing.

i saw this movie 5 times in the theaters. one time, i took my good friend with me and she literally started crying during the movie and would not believe me when i told her that the movie wasn't real. i thought the blair witch project was brilliant.

I remember actually finding out about the movie from seeing a short documentary about the film prior to it's release, I think it was on the Sci-Fi channel, which it turned out was just a brilliant piece of the marketing. And then the word of mouth after a lot of peeps had seen the film was crazy.
My favorite Horror franchise is also Scream but The Blair Witch Project is one of my all time favorite movies (not going in to the morality of it all). You guys are amazing btw! 🖤

Your take and info on the making of the movie is misleading and inaccurate. First of all the actors knew exactly what they were getting into when they auditioned for the movie - and they were excited about it. Michael said the experience combined two of his favorite things: acting & camping. All 3 actors knew they were making a fake documentary and that there was no witch. They also knew the film crew would be making sounds at night. Their conditions were not horrendous…in fact one of the nights they slept at a hotel because they got off course. The movie was filmed in a day park so they were only a couple miles away from civilization. “Taco” was not their “safe word.” Taco is what the film crew would say when they were setting up props and they wanted the actors to ignore them. For example when they built the piles of rocks outside their tent the film crew said “taco” so the actors knew to just go to sleep. As for food…on the last two days Mike & Heather were given a Power Bar and a piece of fruit EACH day. They were given plenty of water. Heather also never had a breakdown after filming. She had to return one additional day to reshoot the audio for the basement scene. They also knew Josh would be leaving early. The real injustice was how they didn’t get any extra money once the movie became a hit (though that is on Artisan who bought the rights to the movie after it was released at Sundance-the actors each received a fruit basket when the movie grossed 100 million) and how Heather & Mike were not able to have a film career afterwards. All of the other stuff you go on about in this video are simply not true.
To correct you, Taco was their safe word and they used it often. Heather D. was on a panel not too long ago and said they actually used the safe word more than once
