- A lot of people recommended I use a rear blade on my tractor to help with snow removal. I've done it before and was never really impressed with the results, this time will prove to be no different than times past. Enjoy the Snow Plowing video with my Kubota Tractor!

Nice video, i have a large turn around that I rear blade into, when the ground isnt frozen I either turn my top link all the way in so the blade angle is out vs cutting in, or I plow in reverse, it lets the blade go over the top vs biting into.
Makes sense! Thanks for watching!
The pusher is the proven winner by far. As for millings, they were great spring summer and fall. Winter we always got potholes. I kept a pile out back to fill them in when they got to bad and easy to do with a bucket.
It’s funny, highly traveled spots are solid as concrete, low travel spots are soft as butter like next to my shop
@@EverythingElliott I think it's a combo of how much tar was left in the milling and cold temps. 95% of our half mile road stayed hard all the time. In the warm temps it was all hard.
Like I said, an load of extra millings and it's a easy fix.
@@jkholley1118 millings can be a fickle beast I guess.
Take your rear blade and turn it around all the way opposite of what it is now that way you won't tear up your mailings
thanks for the tip! I will give that a try next time!
You can run shoes / runners on the back blade to leave millings. If you shorten the 3-point arm on the right side it will shift the blade o the right.
I shifted it all the way over when I was next to my shop. The blade is only 5’ so it’s a little small for my tractor
I have a blade for my tractor as well and I won’t bother using it for snow unless the ground is frozen rock hard and there is a layer of compacted snow on top. There is no skid shoes on them so they will dig in because they are made for grading dirt not snow. Would work great for concrete or blacktop like you said. Keep up the good work!
Sounds like we’re about on the same page! Thanks for watching!
I have a woods plow on my kubota, and I am fortunate in that I have shoes on it.
Great video the pusher is def the way to go but if u do use the blade since u have millings try turning the blade around so it’s not so aggressive on ur drive way
I think my sister used to sing the song of the rear blade in high school cheer leading..."Be Aggressive. Be. Be. Aggressive!"
Haha rite I’m pretty sure my sister did also sound so familiar
Will the back drag blade turn more to the right, if so it would act more like a motorgrader blade and the snow would slide off of it better.
I had it at max angle when I was doing the driveway
If you are going to use the backblade in the forward direction, you should change the top link angle to remove the aggressiveness of the blade. I use my blade to clear my milled driveway, and, about a half mile of road in about an hour.
Thanks for the tip!
I turn my blabde around backwards, tilt so ot does not dig in
That's an option, but I have to pick if I want the blade forward or back before hooking it up. The blade hits my tires if I try to spin it while its attached to the tractor.
Thanks for trying!
Just doing what I can for the good people of youtube!
You need to add ABS pipe to the cutting edge of the back blade, I have a few tips and tricks videos on plowing with it.
I've seen that before, I just don't use the back blade enough to justify doing that...
@@EverythingElliott Well everyone has their favorite way of moving snow, there's no right or wrong as long as it gets done. I'm a back blade guy and use it about ninety percent of the time.
can't you fab some skids for the ends of your back blade I did it works well
I’m sure I could, but I don’t really want to invest the time when I have the pusher that I believe does a better job
Your back blade is too sticky. That is why the snow is not rolling off it like it should. I suggest cleaning off the BB dry it off and spray Pam on it. If you have lots of money to waste then do it with Fluid Film. If your gravel isn't frozen then turn the blade around and scrape )> this way.
That was a very creative way to use a keyboard to make a back blade picture. A lot of people have recommended that.
I heavily coat my rear blade with PAM to minimize sticking. The wet stuff we got yesterday didn’t stick.
I use skid shoes to keep from tearing up my gravel driveway.
Skid shoes similar to a truck plow? You just weld on some cylinders and inset the shoes and washers into there?
@@EverythingElliott yes - I have a Land Pride rear blade and they make a kit with a bracket you bolt on the backside of blade. The shoe is adjustable via set screw and jam nut.
@@bryanwakefield5123 good to know! Thanks!
I feel like if you dont want to rake stone/fillings out of the lawn in spring then you dont want to see the driveway until spring. Sometimes that means you dont plow.
This comment hits home...there is no worse chore than raking gravel out of the grass.
@@EverythingElliott did it for to many years before I started living by "i dont want to see the driveway until spring"
@@BS.-.- and that’s what I normally do, but we were expected to get like 2” of rain and I didn’t want all the snow to become ice, figure the less snow on the driveway, the less ice to deal with.
I missed Theodore.
He was staying nice and warm in the shop!
I wax my blade and snow rolls right off the blade.
What kind of wax? Like snowboard wax?
Not wet packing snow like that.
@@EverythingElliott Johnson's paste wax. Then let the blade cool down to the outside temp before plowing if you keep it in a heated space.
Try to make a trench, so it flows away from your shop
orrrrrrrrr I could put up a lean-to...that certainly would put the snow 16' away from my shop...
