- A thriller of a match with plenty action for the fans. Celtic had the better of the first half and almost scored following slackness in Hearts defence, Andy Walker hitting a post. Henry Smith having two brilliant saves and Craig Levein clearing a Frank McAvennie shot over his own bar. In reply Gary MacKay headed over with John Robertson coming close before John Colquhoun opened the scoring in 39 mins blazing home a Brian Whittaker pass from 22 yards. Hearts early second half pressure against 10 men (Mick McArthy) brought no goals and a strengthening Celtic scored after 79 mins - Mark McGhee heading home a Roy Aitken pass.

Great upload.i would definitely have been at this game as I went to all the games back then.Tynecastle was a great place to go.that Gorgie road end was pretty scary though at times.leaving the ground was always a tight squeeze.i also remember getting caught in a crush at the turnstiles on a Wednesday night earlier that year (1987)...anybody remember that...anyway,great year for Celtic.really miss those days

Good times. Football highlights now are too short. Just goals and endless replays followed by 20 minutes of boring analysis.
