I'm 58 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, oil gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, we are finding it impossible to replace it. We can get by, but cant seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 40years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for,
I feel your pain, as a fellow retiree I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me,I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an investment advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $130k in value stocks and digital assets,Up 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes.
I think it's especially difficult for retirees and near retirees, I know to focus on the long term but the anxiety when you're supposed to be retiring in 3years is super exhausting, I've been looking into hiring a market expert as well
@@Robertgriffinne I've been in the red for the past couple months, lost 12k last week alone, Indubitably I've got good companies but profit is still stalling, how did you go around finding an investment-advisor, I wouldn't mind looking yours up.
@@marianparker7502 My advisor is Nicole Ann Sabin; found her on Bloomberg where she was featured and reached out to her afterwards. You can look her up online if you care for supervision, just search her name.
@@Robertgriffinne sure advisors are outperforming the market and raising good returns but some are charging fees over fees....seeing that their services are in high demand more than ever....Seems more like extortion to me.
I just don't understand the big deal about wearing a mask. It's like putting on a seatbelt. Or stopping at a red light. You just do it. The whining is so idiotic, and utterly stupid.
Agreed. Of all the dumb*ss hills to (literally) die on.
That is the best explanation of the mask war I've ever heard. So simple. Wear a mask idiot. No one likes then. But it's just not that difficult.
Agree. The experts say (if we can believe anybody these days) that cloth masks are virtually useless but those K95 masks are 40% effective. If nothing else masks can prevent a cold or the common flu. But I do not support FORCING anyone to wear one.
No, it is not! It's unnecessary. They do not stop infections or transmissions.
You don’t put a seat belt over your mouth and face all day while you are at work
I work with 3 single mothers who just got 40% rent hikes over just 6 months on top of the gas, food, medical premium, child care price spikes... I've known them for 10+ years, and the fear I see on their faces every day...trying to figure out how to make it with 2% yearly raises...is so heartbreaking
but you got your stimmy checks last year right? Now you just have to pay it back (and more) through higher prices, aint no free lunch
@@sten260 what? stimulus money came from government and higher prices go to corporations. how is that "paying it back"?
@@sten260 yes but corporations also got massive amounts of money too. Don’t see you making a point of that.

"riot that happened one time"
•She admitted it was a RIOT, not tourists
•Murder committed once is still murder, so a lack of repeating the offense doesn't make it Not an offense
•She admitted before a live person with recording equipment, that a crime was committed
Wonder what the hold up to prosecution is!
I don’t know anyone on the right or center that defends what happened that day. They all denounce it. The point they are making is that all these people acting like this was 9/11 times 10 (for political gain) didn’t care when riots were happening everyday on their side, including at federal buildings. Riots that caused 2 billion in damages compared to only hundreds of thousands at the Capitol. 42 deaths happened from those riots compared to 1 at the Capitol. And that lone death was of a rioter. There have been hundreds of prosecutions from the Capitol riot, there have only been a couple from the daily riots of 2020 even though thousands were detained. They aren’t defending the rioters. They are calling out the left for their obvious double standards. They want BOTH sides to be held accountable
Sad truth. I earned more in 1981 as a union grocery clerk than my great niece earns at Wal-Mart in 2021. " Low Price Leader" was really a race to the bottom for American workers. More money in the Walton's family pockets and less for the working person. No benefits, low wages, dead-end jobs. They bank on high turnover so they don't have to promote people and pay them more.
No one made you vote GoP. We foreign folk well know that’s great many of folk in the USA don’t bother to vote. And when politicians make voting difficult you just except it: their would be riots in the street. The only problem with the storming of your Capital is that many of you couldn’t be bother when you get treated like sheep.
Which is why (among their other anti-American practices) I never buy from the Walton Cartel.
1981 US economy was way better than it is now, so it's not surprising. Now we have endless QE which is a big red flag, I can't imagine how bad it's going to be in 20 years
Starting pay at my job that basically requires a degree was the same 10 years ago. Do you know how much college has gone up in prices? A lot
With on-going turnover, customer service is compromised too. A win win! It just keeps getting better due to greed. I’m still waiting for the benefits of ‘trickledown’ economic theory.
For example: the petroleum companies are making record profits, so I know they must be figuring how to reward their customers and employees.
We do not claim Stallone's energy.
Also, I never stopped wearing a mask and neither did most of my friends. Philly resident confused over the fuss.

"Is Potato " greatest running joke ever, please keep it going
When prices go way up while corporations and fossil fuel companies post record profits, that is not inflation. It is price gouging.
thats not price gouging, it's normal business. If the demand is higher than you can produce you have to start raising prices. They have to raise prices to reduce the demand! If they drilled so much oil and there was so little demand that they can't find a place to put it then there is no way they would have raised prices
@@sten260 you are trolling every comment on this video using the same account. lazy. bad form.
Be careful with the ethanol blends; your car may end up in a ditch vomiting smoke, and will wake up the morning after with a splitting headache.
@@sten260 No. Using a crisis to raise prices for no reason other than greed while others are suffering is the DEFINITION of price gouging. It is immoral, and if we had a functional government that represented the public, it would not be allowed.
@@nicholasflamel1134 you are blaming companies for greed? that doesn't make any sense. Of course they want to make maximum amount of money, why would they want to make less money? You realize what a stupid argument this is?
Is this the 5th or 6th time we as Americans have had a high oil price crisis? And yet, we refuse to shift away from fossil fuels.
Fossil fuels have too many jobs tied to it. I want the change too but there are too many who disagree with us.
The suburbs are designed around it. It’s horrible to live there without a personal gas guzzler. That’s why everyone should move to a city or a small town and the suburbs should be bulldozed and then reforested
@@M_SC I'd live in or near a city for the conveniences and the lack of need to drive a car so often, if the price to rent was not twice or more what I can find out in the forested suburbs.
The idea of reconcentrating humans for ecological reasons is a good urge, but the economics of the matter need to be dealt with too.
-
Major cities are so overinflated, pricewise, in everything from housing to groceries (because the store has to pay more to exist in a city than elsewhere) to all of the government fees and permits to do anything (to keep feeding the money pit that is urban government)...
A lot of people think that the solution to high gas prices is to drill for more fossil fuel. I'd say, stop using gasoline altogether. Reducing demand for oil and gas, like it happened during Covid caused the price of crude oil to crash. I do not advocate for oil companies going bankrupt, but they can downsize and still be profitable. Fossil fuel will only be used for flying planes which cannot go electric, and for power stations to provide the juice we need to charge our batteries.
What about the jobs tied to the oil and gas industry? Well, those workers can transition to selling, installing and servicing solar panels and wind turbines.
Because there's no other solution and don't say electric vehicles because they at this time are not enough to make a difference not only in costs but usage doesn't really allow long distance travel.

@@harley2die4 We are still pumping our own oil...we just haven't grown it out with the newest pipeline. Russian oil accounts for 7% of the fuel that enters the US, but prices are up way more than 7%.
I also heard this morning that the nitrogen fertilizer all farmers use...well, 98% of it is made using natural gas, which is now 3x more expensive b/c of the war, so that also goes into the food supply chain bit (meaning you're even more correct than you may have realized).
Actually, that's a misnomer. The federal government has had a subsidy in place to regulate the effective price of diesel to truckers for well over a decade. It's a complicated system, but it breaks down to making it cost $1.25 per gallon to truckers as long as they get 6.5 mpg average. It's calculated every week and changes constantly as the fuel prices fluctuate, but it's there and has been. So the companies that haul everything aren't spending a whole lot more as fuel prices climb - in fact, since newer trucks are getting much better fuel economy the companies are MAKING MONEY off of that subsidy because as you get above 6.5 mpg average your cost of fuel goes down quickly because the weekly surcharge is paid per mile, but based of gallon cost. Use less fuel per mile, bank the extra cash.
So transportation costing more is a scam - the price of diesel isn't a factor. Companies just profit.

I have heard from some Conservatives the reason why we shouldn't increase the minimum wage is because it could lead to increased inflation. The problem is price inflation happens every year, which is why nothing costs the same today as it did a decade ago. And yet, because the federal minimum wage hasn't increased in over a decade, anyone who works a minimum wage job has far less spending power today then they did 10 years ago because of that same inflation.
Not only that, but it also causes people stress which can make them sick or unhealthy!

That's exactly what economics predicts from a minimum wage increase--inflation. Why did this surprise you? Higher wages chasing the same goods means prices rise. Basic supply and demand.

I am an old bird who has been around since 77. I saw our country start losing in the 80's when large corporations started edging out small business owners. Those small business owners (like my father) were relegated to the dustbin and the profits that used to be in the hands of small business owners ended up going to one large corporation and the people who work for those large corporations now make nothing compared to what their parents were talked into giving up.

That's why taxes used to be higher precisely to discourage gouging.
"Marijuana" was outlawed beginning in the 1920s because a machine had been invented in 1917 which would have increased hemp productivity and made Cannabis Sativa a viable replacement for petroleum for transportation and plastic, as well as trees for paper and construction.
Fossil fuel companies and oil barons who had built their fortunes up since the Industrial Revolution of the 1850s didn't want to give up their control of the global markets, so they lobbied Congress to outlaw Cannabis as the "dangerous" drug, "Marijuana."
Ford made a plastic car body with hemp in 1941. Diesel fuel is made from plants. We've had the technology for 80 years to make cars and fuel from Cannabis.
It's extra sad, because Colbert won't actually ever acknowledge the corporate greed, because him and his team work for these type of people, similar to all of the politicians. So in a way, Colbert is selling his integrity for a paycheck as well. Although, if he refuses to sell his integrity, he'll be kicked off the air and replaced with someone else willing to sell their integrity. Not that this makes it ok or anything. @@brandonellis8111 I drive a Subaru Outback. Great in snow and on back roads. But I don't waste my money and time sitting in long lines idling the engine of the car. I have the strength to park my car and walk. Besides, we know why guys in particular buy huge vehicles. And for most, it's not for work.

Oh my, Colbert makes my day! Thank you so much!
if everyone wore mask in the 1st place we could be in control of our health
Less than 1% of the world population has died from covid and less than 7% has been infected with covid. Yeah because you’re so brilliant
You have no idea what you're talking about. You abviously have not done any research. If you had you would know how we've been lied to and the real reason behind the vaccine
@Barbara Medlock: I totally agree. in Ontario Canada most of the mask mandates has been lifted, ( save for public transit and hospital settings) but most people are still wearing them indoors, in public settings, on their own accord. We understand that a little prevention is still necessary!
Stay safe, stay sane, stay Strong Ukraine 🇺🇦
@@sirdavidoftor3413 You people who still wear those masks are obviously clueless the the part of society that has been ultimately dumbed downed by government persuasion.

Doctor's orders!
Self medication is DANGEROUS!
But totally worth it.
Laughter is not medicine
..is potato.
I’d be worried about overdosing
LOL. I was hoping he would mention the Witches are found on Russia T.V. the hunting is over.
“Is potato” 😂😂😂😂
As someone from WI, I loved your Milwaukee/Waukesha joke.
The solution to rising inflation should not be punishing the poor.
Nope. But that’s how she goes 😪
The problem with 15% ethanol is that plasticky rubbery parts in engines are only built for 10% ethanol. Older cars are screwed.
Just buy another car when your gums up. It’ll stimulate the economy. #doyourpart
I had the same reaction. Most vehicles aren't going to handle 15% ethanol. We'll be paying 50 cents or more extra per gallon for ethanol free, when we can find it.
Sounds like a good way to usher out gasoline cars and promote electric vehicles at the same time...
@@lynnebucher6537 in Australia both options are generally available as standard, or used to be, now it's only 98% or 95%, but they sell separate supplement things for older cars that can't run on that, so if it's a challenge to find higher proper fuel levels where you are, are supplements an option? It's like what they do with lawn mowers that need a different fuel mix to regular cars, whatever's in the little bottle has enough of whatever it is that's needed to convert a whole tank of 15% ethanol into a fuel equivalent to 0% ethanol - or close to that I think anyway, we don't have 15% ethanol here, sounds consernsing to me that it would even be done!
@@tandt7694 True.; and the sooner Americans get away from gas, the sooner they can save their economy from catastrophic failure.
For the American people I think it's going to hit the poor the hardest. Those who can afford it will get electric cars if they haven't already or those who can afford it will maintain their cars.. But those who can barely afford gas will mostly do neither.
"That's how you get an Eric"
I guess it's fire season all over again, this burn was EPIC

And we are still spending 760 billion dollars per year for our military expenses.
America is THE greatest spender on its military in the world.
Meanwhile back in the middle class lane, staying in your lane is becoming even more difficult.
We need to cut spending on the military and put that money towards stuff people want! How about new roads? How about better healthcare so we can keep up with the rest of the world? How about free daycares?
@@beez1717 You read my mind. And don't forget AFFORDABLE housing.
To be fair; President Biden only increased spending by $40 billion compared to Trump.
Imagine what the GOP might do!
All debt is joke. Our monetary system is a joke. If you don’t have ‘F You” money you are susceptible to a corrupted market with fake money and debt dependent Market. It used to be easy to die debt free, now everything is such a scam that we are resigned to the fact debt is what makes the USA.
Recall Trumps first actions : move the capital of Israel , visited China, N.Korea and Russia ....... I was appalled he called those leaders our friends... THAT was the moment
At least he tried to have some form of diplomatic relations with them which is more then any other president has done in regards to the leaders of those countries.

So what’s with corporations and reporting high profits? I’m sure they’re just finding something to excuse their wealth.

With all we have lived through, listening to your shows makes me smile. Thank you
It’s very difficult to persuade “Is Potato” to overturn an election.
Mike Pence, on the other hand, was more like a lettuce and mayonnaise sandwich on Wonder Bread.
Our Cartoon President had the perfect depiction of Rachel Maddow. I mean 100% spot on. 🤣😎

There is no Inflation: The corporations are price gouging.
Google: the federal reserve.
there is no aid to the American people. There is only aid to the ss ukrainians.
Inflation just hit a 49 year high because of the government’s printing and spending of trillions of dollars. Let’s go Brandon

I love John's reaction to the Eric joke.
Gotta give Eastman credit…he’s tenacious, if nothing else. Although at this point, it is bordering insanity. Somebody should tell him that if he prevails, Trump won’t be able to run in 2024.
It's not inflation though, it's the corporations increasing their profits.
No it's not. It's Biden tripping up the economy so that he can destroy the US. He hasn't done a damn thing right. President Brandon is working with his son to sell out the US to Communism. Just watch within two or three months people are going to be right rioting and president Brandon is going to declare martial law and cancel the elections

Is it just a coincidence that most of those corporations are reporting record profits at the same time as our record "inflation"?
It is both large corporate gauging and inflation. But it is mostly inflation due to quantitative tightening, oil prices, disrupted supply chains, etc (mostly oil prices). Large corporations are price setting while our politicians get more wealthy with their insider trading and regular people along with regular business owners suffer.
