When you study English at school, you are taught some variation of PEE; Point, Evidence, Explain.
It's a very useful writing technique for anyone who wants to write any kind of essay.
Point: For example, I think the Dalek Paradigm look better in Asylum of the Daleks compared to Victory of the Daleks.
Evidence: I display pictures of the props side-by-side, I compare the colours, the proportions, etc.
Explain: So I say something like "here are the props side by side, look at the different colours and proportions, etc"
Bowlestrek and a lot of reactionaries seem to have this basic writing system completely backwards.
- They Explain first (half the video and throwing shade)
- Then they make their Point (about halfway through)
- And give their Evidence never.
The sykh (Major Singh) was actually pretty solid casting as they'd introduced a mindwashed unit squadron using their helmets to disguise blue eyes. This meant we could visibly see Singh was not a part of the squadron because of his religious exception to the helmet as uniform.

Going by his positive reviews of DW DVDs on his channel from almost a decade ago, I highly doubt that was the case to begin with.

I was just about to say. For a guy who says he doesn't care about Doctor Who he seems to care a lot. In 1981 I didn't like Peter Davison's take on the Doctor. I didn't rail day in day out till he finished his run. I moved on. I didn't continue to "interact" with the show until years.
Addenda: I love Peter Davison's performance now. Took 3 years of classic Doctor Who on YTV to realize how good he was, but by that time I found I'd enjoyed every Doctor up to his moment as Doctor and he didn't disappoint.

The Doctor Who experience was open for over 7 years, and did very well. It debuted in London at the Olympia Exhibition Centre for a year in 2011 before moving to Cardiff for 6 years. Most of the people who wanted to see it saw it in that time. So, it closed. I did a stop in London in 2011 during a European trip so I could visit it, and it was totally worth it!

Whilst I appreciate the sentiment, the fact of the matter is, Bowlestrek still does his grifting videos, with or without people like Mr TARDIS. He doesn't need us to make money. Mr TARDIS himself has stated that he's not going after Bowlestrek, he's going after his fans, to show them another point of view, and try to win them over.
And you know what? Whenever I see a comment on any of his videos from people who were former NMDs, until they watched Mr TARDIS' videos, and he helped pull them out of the Alt-Right rabbit hole, I applaud him, and encourage him to keep up the good work.
I've often wondered about this, that the trouble is left wing CZcamsrs, the likes of Vaush etc. who do these kind of response videos, are in some respect ultimately reinforcing the very political binary and eco system that keeps people like Bowlestrek relevant
My problem with RTD2 isn't the fact that the doctor is black or gay or any of that (I always thought the doctor is beyond these crude things we humans think about so whatever gender, race, identity the actor is would be ABSOLUTELY fine). My problem is mainly the story decision to make the doctor have reverse therapy and suddenly not have what made new who interesting. I miss the 12th doctor style of doctors (mix of new who and classic who). RTD1 had the best way to represents all sorts of identies. Look at captain jack one of my favorite characters of all time and RTD always wrote amazing scripts that included identification. But RTD2 feels like he wants to find an EXCUSE to add identification. I'm just asking for Doctor Who to go back to amazing written scripts

I'd also note that 'telefantasy' tends to be the big cluster genre used to categorize television sci-fi, fantasy, and horror since - while all three are distinct - the lines between those three genres are fuzzy rather than hard lines. So, for a television journalist? I don't think they'd think twice about using 'fantasy drama' to describe that I think has always played very fast and loose with the science, and hasn't usually even attempted to cover its magic wands with a fig leaf saying SCIENCE! on it, as it did in The Daemons.

And I say this as someone who enjoys S18 and while Logopolis isn't the biggest highlight of the season - that goes to Warrior's Gate - it is a good story within it and an excellent mood piece, not sure it makes my top quartile of DW stories, but definitely in the top half.

I've just binged the classic Dr Who and there's literally an episode where John Pertwee does a good chunk of it in a dress. So the past isn't quite as different as the present there, Bowelstreak.
But really, the 60s and 70s and 80s were great? Like, I mean they were in a lot of ways but do we really have to go back to that era where every villain of every episode was a giant slug? Or to messy arcs like Trial of the TImelord? Or to Mel's screaming that made me turn to drink?
The classic era is endearing and has some great diamonds in the rough but there's a whole lot of gaff in there too. There's also a lot of politics that Bowelstreak would disagree with, including a pronoun scene where they talk about what gender Alpha Centauri is. I'm sure that's different somehow, to the Starbeast.

I don't understand it. JUST DON'T WATCH THE SHOW. When I was a child, I loved Star Wars. Nowadays it has changed into something I don't really like. So I just don't watch it. I still have the things I enjoyed about it to go back and enjoy at any time. They still exist. I don't feel the need to fuel hatred in others online. We live in an age of limitless entertainment. Just find something else to enjoy. Or if the state of media in general irks you, literally do anything else with your time. But I suppose that's the point. That's a misunderstanding of what he said. It's understandable, since the alt-right have been misrepresenting what he said ever since to try to pretend that he agrees with them. (Validation is very important to that crowd.)
He actually criticized many writers for only tangentially addressing diversity, and not committing to the follow through. Or, in other words, he criticized them for not being woke enough, or at least not committed to following through on it.

Basically, trying to seem like you're promoting diversity, but not actually making it relevant to the story and cowardly backing down on it, as soon as there's any pushback from the usual forces.
He was saying that they should commit to showing the depth of these diverse characters, and shouldn't just do it to look or feel good. (What the alt-right would call virtue signaling.) They should commit to it.
But, of course, the alt-right - who are so bizarrely desperate to have their points of view amplified by the celebrities that they rage about to try to help them not look like the bigots that they are actively lied and misrepresented what he said so people would believe that he was promoting their point of view that diversity is bad. Their desperation for validation is bizarre and pathetic. Anyone who has actually watched his shows or listened to his interviews would have realized how absurd their lies were.
@@DavidHHH99 I very much do agree. I think Disney just includes certain characters to “be diverse” without actually caring about said cultures or diversity. Which annoys me to no end. I think it’s incredibly harmful and boosts the alt-right because they get to “justify” that these characters are shallow, “degenerate”, etc.
And I think Russell (mostly) handles this very well in his own work - giving characters genuine soul and showcase of their personality.
Buuuut.. I do have to wonder how caring Russell truly is about this stuff when he allows sexual misconduct on his sets, shooting down any claims against it and actively engaging with these deviants online.. while also encouraging consumerism and capitalism.
I respect a lot of what the guy has to say and what he writes, It’s A Sin and Years & Years especially… but I’m not all too fond of his handling of topics that stretch beyond the LGBTQ+ community. But that’s just me, I could be wrong about it all of course.

As to "sexual misconduct", we're talking about a different time, where the only "misconduct" was a hot guy who whipped it out on occasion as a playful joke. Like it or not, there are lots of workplace environments where that kind of behavior is considered acceptable. I've worked in them. Luckily, we know better now, and don't tolerate that kind of behavior any more at work.
I'm not making excuses for it, but it's not like we're talking about actual sexual assault here. And it's certainly doesn't justify the kind of naked bigotry we're seeing from the alt-right. But bigots and extremists don't need justification. Their bigotry IS their justification. But we need to stop making excuses for them.
