I understand the impulse to ignore. I understand people wanting to just embrace the positivity.
However, if you saw the messages I receive from former alt-righters who are happier after being de-radicalized, if you saw the e-mails I receive from tearful parents thanking me for giving their sons back to them after they were in the alt-right pipeline from these channels I'm responding to...I hope you would understand why I continue to make these videos.

This guy is just Driven to hope the show is doing badly to justify his warped view that it is in some way bad, or in some way not the same show he grew up with.
I wish rightwingers could just admit THEY changed, the show didn't. It was fine when they were kids but now they see it was always leftist and they were too young to see the forest for the trees. Part of growing up is acknowledging you missed subtext as a kid.
One thing I've noticed about these reactionary commentators is that they don't ever say anything good about the show or what they like. I've come to the conclusion that none of these commentators actually care/like the show and just want to tear it down for the rest of us who actually enjoy it.
The right and alt right are the enemies, not a silly TV show about an alien travelling through time.
What they care about is trying to radicalize nerd fandom into political extremism.
I never hear positive feedback from these clowns which has me asking two questions:
1)Were they ever fans in the first place?
2)If the answer to #1 is "no" why are they specifically targeting a show that they never liked and know nothing about?
I agree. At this point they're just hate-watching because they know it will get them clicks on their videos. It's why reviews from people like MrTARDIS will always be 10x better because they actually break down the pros and cons of episodes instead of just being a middle-aged right winger crying about "woke".

It annoyed me that some people were calling it dead immediately and the whole time i was just thinking...This era just started. At least give it like 5 episodes before calling the show over. That's like calling an American football game over cause the other team got a single touchdown in the first 5 minutes.
Agreed if we consider a show dead after one possibly iffy episode several would have never made it as far as they did (looking at you TNG).

1. You show them overnight figures and the fact that this show was the number one viewed drama in the uk at the time of its release when compared to other dramas. They’ll either claim that you can only trust consolidated numbers, or that the speed of the viewing numbers is slower than it once was. This is despite the fact that no show is getting the speed of viewer ship it once had in the early 2010’s mid 2000’s
2: If you show them consolidated viewing figures and how even the Christmas Special came in at number 3 for the viewing figures only behind the New Year’s Eve celebration and Call the Midwife they’ll claim that those numbers don’t count because either the show was handicapped because of RTD, David Tenet, and Cathrine Tate returning. Or they’ll claim that the show’s numbers were fudged by the BBC.
It’s honestly quite pathetic.

It is a really weird trend of saying official figures are rubbish. BARB numbers are so widely respected as the best we have in the industry (by all the broadcasters) it seems really weird that some think that there is some fuding on behalf of a single programme. It just doesn't stand up. Doctor Who did well on the overnights, and it did well on the 7 day figures. We have years of data showing that Doctor Who is the kind of program that does well on the +7 day figures. That the numbers are very good and that DW is the kind of programme that pulls a younger audience than average for a drama means that the production office (and the Beeb higher-ups) must be well satisfied.
It's how alt-right minds are programmed to work. When they come across facts that they don't like, they simply deny that the facts or reality exist and create ludicrous conspiracy theories to explain why they didn't happen. it's an essential part of the radicalization process.

Also a former Nerderotic/Bowlstrek fan. When I was in Middle School and even in like the early days of High School. Basically the prime demographic for these people, 12-15 Year Olds. I was also very conservative at the time. Basically, because my parents were and anytime I tried to have discussions with them about politics that they disagreed with or even just tried to share my perspective they became very angry with me. So I just accepted the words of them and would never question anything that was presented to me by a conservative talking head. It's funny because my first disconnect came when The Last Jedi came out, and they absolutely dog pilled on it. A film which I consider to be near perfect, they hated so passionately. And when you looked into their arguments it literally was always, things that LITERALLY DID NOT HAPPEN in the movie, or just showed a clear lack of understanding of how films are written, or a lack of competence when it came to film criticism. I.E. Rey is a Mary Sue. It was also telling to me how there complaints seem to be the same across the board. It was just the same whiny pedantic B.S. from one creator to the other. Not to mention how the characters they criticized most harshly and with the most amount of anger and vitriol tended to be either Women or People of Color. As I began to see these things come up again and again, as I began to see how angry, radical, and just plain mean these creators were, I didn't just question why I found their media analysis to be in any way valid, but why I subscribed to this political ideology that more and more I saw was just filled with angry, miserable, rude, and racist assholes.

I never got this obsession with viewing figures, it does not equal quality, you can have poorly made programme with loads of viewing figures and a masterpiece with very few.

I am technically on the right, but this whole culture war thing is ridiculous, you can go back to media from 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 years ago and find SAME types of messages these people complain about, while often glorifying the old stuff.
Message is only part of enjoyment of media, personally I care more about HOW you present your message, instead of WHAT it is and quite frankly, some of my favourite films, books or musicians fall more often on the left of the political spectrum, never had issue with that.

I doubt it was anything to do with me, but the timing is pretty funny. If I'd have sat on this topic for just a few more days, all of his tweets would have disappeared.

What makes me the most frustrated is when Dr who goes against its principles “you can’t change history, not one line” and Issac newton was cast against that, abstraction or not, per your Shakespeare comments, you have to stop using “it’s doctor who” as making it ok BECAUSE these conservatives are using that exact argument and it lessens the impact of your well thought out arguments

I can remember when I got into the doctor in season 5 finding it on BBC America on demand and liking Amy’s choice the first episode I saw then actually watching season 6 it’s the rest of the fans that the viewing figures weren’t a point of contention in the fandom it wasn’t until Jodie was casted that we saw a section of the fandom loose there mind to her casting to the point where it wasn’t acceptable to be indifferent to her casting and wanted to wait and judge her from actual footage of the show cause be became a situation where had to instantly love her as the doctor or instantly hate her as the doctor even though we hadn’t had even a season trailer at that point overall I like the era even though I still have issues with it and it was like they were desperate for people to hate the era cause she was casted even though it was always Sydney Newman’s plan to have men and women be the doctor when regeneration was invented so since her era the viewing figures have been their hill to die on cause they have nothing else at this point since despite them her era was still technically successful in the streaming landscape

That was just after the Fandom Menace extremists had really started moving through fandom, starting with #GamerGate and moving on to Star Wars, then Star Trek, then Doctor Who.
I know very little about how viewing figures work or how they're calculated and even I can see through the grifts with very little effort. Like how the melon guy goes on about how overnight figures are more important. First of all, it was a Christmas Day broadcast. Even if streaming wasn't as prevalent as it is, if ever there's a time to include repeats or on demand figures, its for shows that went out on a day when many, many people across the country are going to be busy.
Then there's the point about "some people might have tuned out after 30 seconds", which he also for some reason relates to why overnight figures are more important. Don't really get that, people can still tune out of a first broadcast. But moreover, if that's going to be their attitude, why bother talking about viewing figures at all? If they're not going to bother looking up how the BARB expect 40% of a show to be watched before they count it, you could take that to the extreme and say _no one_ watched it at all. You might think that no one would believe them if they took it that far, but I've actually seen grifters get away with that exact lie:
A lot of right-wing grifters have been going on about Star Trek: Discovery since it started releasing in 2017 and how its "too woke", etc. all the usual stuff; but a point that's been repeatedly brought up by them is a lack of viewing figures. I don't know whether the rules are different for streaming-exclusive shows, or if the rules are different for American shows, but I've heard CBS are under no obligation to release the viewing figures. Okay. So the right-wing grifters have decided the reason Paramount/CBS won't release the viewing figures is because there literally aren't any. They've decided that _literally no one_ is watching Star Trek: Discovery and that they kept renewing it for a total of 5 _very expensive_ high-budget seasons to save face and not admit that it was getting literally zero views. _And people were buying into that lie!_ And then of course, when we learned that the fifth season would be the end, the grifters started claiming that the show was a failure, despite the fact that five seasons of a high-budget sci-fi streaming show is good these days. A lot of Star Trek fans are used to how things were in the 1990s and still expect seven seasons to be what qualifies as "successful". And that's before we get to the countless, _countless_ times grifters have claimed the executive producer has been "fired by CBS". For the record, the executive producer is still heading up the Star Trek franchise to this day.
I honestly don't understand the whole grifting thing. Be it for Doctor Who, Star Wars, Star Trek, Marvel, DC etc. There's plenty of people such as MrTARDIS who can actually critique something; acknowledge when there's shortcomings like pacing or if an attempt at representation comes across as misguided or what have you. But these grifter people would rather spend absurd amounts of time and effort crafting the most paper-thin rumors about viewing figures, cancellations or firings that anyone with an IQ in positive numbers can see right through. I cannot imagine being so hateful that I'd rather seethe about diversity in shows rather than just analysing them as actual pieces of media.
The funny thing about the reaction to Ncuti Gatwa is the fact that most people have shown that they're not that scared of black people in media. We saw this with black panther and captain marvel. Most people aren't that bothered by diversity when the media they're in is good lol

Yes-ish, genuinely, companies, when figuring out the heath of a brand, will look at figures and sales from the home country, aka the primary market, and then its secondary market, then thershiary market.

The ratings for the 60th anniversary were low, but the ratings for the Christmas Special were slightly above average in fact.
I think the anniversary has made some really odd bets at times but the Christmas special did an okay job (the issues were slim pickings imo).
Don’t compare doctor who to game of thrones season 8. Game thrones in its entirety is better than doctor who. But game of thrones season eight is worse than the entirety of the thirteen doctor era. So don’t dare say the doctor who ratings are fake when game of thrones gets an Emmy for season 8

We talk about racism and homophobia which is fine as we should call it out for what it is as you do here however I urge you to call out the ageism from the Bad Wolf team. Why is it RTD won’t cast anyone over 45 in the role of the Doctor? Why does the Doctor need to be attractive today? If the modern Doctor Who production team are serious about inclusivity then don’t exclude older actors or those some would consider not good looking. The writing in modern Who I do find is also a problem turning the show into a goofy fantasy rather than the mix of science fiction & fantasy that Classic Who had.

Why is it that RTD never casts anyone over 45 in the role? Peter Capaldi is the only actor cast over 45 and cast by Steven Moffat.

Can you imagine the likes of William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton being cast today? Not as long as these body fascists are in charge.

Moffat was pretty guilty on that front too though with his sexist portrayals of women. I don't know if they are ageist as you say because the evidence is not clear, just wanting to cast a younger actor in the case of Ncuti Gatwa I don't think is ageist in of itself. But then what you've pointed out here is something that the entire media industry is guilty of, and is far from unique to RTD.

1) Politically in the UK, they are the dominant power-group so it's important to know what they think (even if it's to combat them)
2) They literally want these marginalized groups dead so...maybe it's best to inform people so we can stop that.

It's not an obsession lol. It's the fact that so many of these right wingers are making false claims about the show that just aren't true at all and too many people are eating it up as if it is. The whole point of videos like this is to prove these people wrong and show a different viewpoint of things. If someone spread misinformation about you, wouldn't you want to prove them wrong?
