The Military access has got to be broken like - I've seen AI attack through Neutral nations using military access at points too, Very frustrating.
It's happened in some of my recent playthroughs, so I concur. It shouldn't be behaving like that at all, it really throws me off when it does.
They better not change it. I love being able to blitzkrieg the UK as Japan in 36
@@boomerharris2965 I mean thats more launching naval invasions from neutral countries surely, which makes more sense - its more a problem of directly walking from neutral to enemy territory which currently the AI seems to be able to do.
@@combrade-t can the player?
@@Tdelliex Not that I'm aware of, you could paradrop into the province then walk your army into the now occupied land from neutral, but I'm not aware of a way to go direct, and it's not as if the AI does it ALL the time so I'm guessing its some sort of glitch/exploit
0:20 Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth without Poland and Lithuania, only Russian land.
It's just a Commonwealth at this point
Russian-Russian commonwealth
@@Bitt3rSteel Actually when Commonwealth was established in 1569 it was just Commonwealth. Later it started to be called "Common Commonwealth of Crown of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania"* to just simplify into Commonwealth of Poland
*in Polish: Wspólna Rzeczpospolita Korony Polskiej i Wielkiego Księstwa Litewskiego, when "Wspólna" means "Common" (in sense united/together) and "Rzeczpospolita" is direct translation of Latin "res publica" which can be directly translated into English as Commonwealth but it just means republic.
The Polish-Lithiuanian- KindaEastPrussian-Ruthenian minus poland and Lithuania Commonwealth
Complains about not being able to push under red air
*doesn't put AA in his tank divisions*
In my experience, one motorized AA brigade per tank division is enough to keep pushing under the reddest of air if up to date. It also bleeds them dry of CAS really fast. Destroys like 15 planes per engagement, more damage than they do to your division.
In my defense, i forgot
@@Bitt3rSteel lol
Some coffee and a fresh bittersteel disaster save; just what I needed for my break
are you me
Sounds like fun
Just hate that the AI can put 20k airplanes but you as a player can't put 2k because of Overstacking... Paradox needs to nerf AI aircraft as a whole...
Nah, how else am I gonna beat the UK fleet into submission if I cant naval bomb all their ships?
I thought you couldn't invade by land from a neutral nation, even with military access. I'm pretty sure the nation you're getting military access from also has to be at war with the nation you're invading.
Hence my confusion when the AI did it at least twice
@@Bitt3rSteel i had encircled an entire army around belgium, then all 45 divisions just walked over the border to saftey
In fact, as a player u cant
@@Bitt3rSteel AI blatantly cheats regularly with naval invasions and supply, not surprised
@@dobi2236 when you can't program a competent ai so you just give it unfair advantages to balance it out, great game design right there
Supply should really impact AirPower, It is kinda of silly that hundreds of planes trapped in a pocket where the soldiers around them are starving to death are able to operate at 100% efficiency
It does, at least for the player. You get a debuff to mission efficiency from "airbase has insufficient supply".
supply has a massive impact on air power, if planes are in an area that has been cut off they run out of fuel and have 0 efficiency
It was probably affecting everyone, but AI just had such a massive air advantage it wouldn't have mattered regardless.
Wild watching the AI do the meme thing of supplying small divisions off of victory points and holding with CAS alone.
I love how Czechoslovakia grabs popcorn in this video 🤣👌🤣
To their credit, they sent me volunteers
@@Bitt3rSteel truly playing both sides.
@@Bitt3rSteel "Sure, go ahead and invade that country through our lands"
"Yeah so, we are looking for any volunteers who'd like to help our neighbour that got invaded"
I vaguely recall that most of the Baltic Sea has a sea terrain that makes subs more visible. The area around the Danish archipelago however is quite good. You should be able to check the sea terrain like you check the land ones: just click on the tile and something something.
Shallow seas have +100% visibility penalty. Plus another penalty for the air superiority.
The literal worst place on the globe to deploy subs on aggressive.
You always try the most epic disaster saves, where the entirety of Europe is just a total mess on every level. I absolutely love them
Saving Poland's always a noble endeavaour, but not putting her in such a disastrous position is even more so. :)
I can't get enough of those videos, they're so amazing! Good job.
Love your disaster saves!
My only question is, how are you garrisoning all that Europe territory in the second half of the game, that's insane.
Service by requirement and full PLC cores, baby
Man for how it was looking being out CASed and all you did a hell of a job, I’m new in this HOI4 game but I learn a lot from watching your videos, thanks man!
Loved this video Bitter, what tenacity on this save, really the hardest I've seen so far on our channel!
19:02 correct me if I am wrong, but doesnt comb at arms give more breakthrough than panzer expert? Since 15%>10%
it depends ofc on your template, but if you are using a close to 50/50 split between motorized and tanks, then comb at arms is better. Not to mention that it unlocks the comb at arms military high command for more breakthrough on your tank divisions
doesnt it only raise mechs/mot breakthrough in NSB and not tanks? So 10% for tanks would be better than 15% for inf
No, this modifier will be shown under the "commander skill" in the battle interface and doesnt affect the template.
The break even point is 60% tanks and 40% mot infantery (hover over the composition icon in the div designer to see the values).
So below 60% tanks -> comb at arms and over 60% panzer expert.
For example, if your template consists of 50% tanks and 50% mot infantery, you will get 50*0,15=7,5% breakthrough with comb at arms and 5% with panzer expert.
Same behavior with the comb at arms and panzer expert military high commands, though both give 15%, hence the panzer one is better since your composition will usually consists of more than 50% tanks.
For the most breakthrough on your tank divisions you want both high commands.
15:32 that one man in reserve🥶
It's Pjotr. He's vital to the nation
Great video as always Bittersteel, but can you remade those Chinese warlords achievements?
With the new supply system, playing as the CCP or any of the warlords is very frustrating.
Glad I'm not the only one finding that.
Recording Guanxi > Battlecry as we speak
@@Bitt3rSteel thanks a lot mate 👍
Your patience is amazing, as I would have thrown in the towel 3 or 4 times there. Awesome job!
could it be that the save-owner enhanced certain nations like GB and GER with the country bonus sliders and thats why their infantry was beating your tanks? because you fought and won against air superiority before
I mean the new dlc buffed cas like a lot
That was one of your most entertaining disaster saves yet!
Ah, I can eat my lunch with a great disaster save.. Yes
Please keep doing these! I love them!

13:07 "...they're at Minsk? How quickly are they spreading?"
Me whenever checking COVID stats for the past 2 years
The Frustration felt here reminds me of my first couple of games against the AI
32:27 US has just casually taken Greenland, Canada, Mexico, and Northern Brazil.
Gosh it's so easy to see how the dudes that do disaster saves are having a tough time or having a good time 😂
Is it possible the supply mechanics were working but the Allies were air lifting supplies via transport planes?
AIs don't produce transport planes.
Shallow sea modifiers for subs is 100% visibility :/ They were basically high-tech expensive af tubs sitting ducks in the middle of the baltic sea, I tend to forget about it too ;P
Mistakes were made...
bruh this is like in eu4 when enemy armies just ignore your forts
>Be me
>Work 10 hour shift
>Come home
>Notification for another bitt3rsteal video
>Day made
His subs were actually perfect. They had 58 torpedo attack, which with a few admiral points will one shot any convoy. Putting bigger torpedoes only increases production cost
Convoys aren't the goal. The royal navy was.
Lol. I can just imagine a single torpedo destroying an entire convoy. That is funny
@@Bitt3rSteel why didn't you use naval bombers?
That Frontline is horrific
I feel like the biggest factor for the tanks being stonewalled is the -25% combat penalty from being green divisions
Air might be just a bit OP. But I guess it is IRL too
It seems that the new meta is 10 width infantry with no support + CAS + some fighters
I never understand these disasters. How do u have under 1 full army group. It's 1944. How did you even manage to get all of Russia with under 1 army group?
You do it by RUSH RUSH RUSH before winter comes
Iv'e done it as Tanna Tuva with 40 divisions, so I kind of get it
Speaking from experience, beating Russia as PLC with under a full army group is not hard, you can do it with 3 generals if you micro hard
how is your game running that fast in 1947😭😭 bro mine starts to lag in 43
Wat was je tank divisie op het einde 30?
Have you taken a look at the doctrines? no upgraded fighters with 500 air exp makes me wonder
Iirc, he finished the ground support doctrine
@@Bitt3rSteel ah well, I thought that might be why you had such a hard time at first. Though ground support without air superiority is pretty bad I would say
sounds like cas is overtuned and needs a look at.
why don't you ever invade the UK in these scenarios? they are really easy to naval invade from the Eastern North Sea and North Sea. With air superiority and bathtub subs you should be able to get a naval invasion off because the UK never really puts its navy out in those sea tiles
I agree, with the amount of crap UK put you through this game I wanted to see them Cap!
By the time I get these saves out of the a
Shitter, I'm so incredibly done with the game that i just need to walk away
@@Bitt3rSteel Well thats fair.... out of curosity would nukes bring down UK like it does Japan?
@@connor1734 nah, that's a japan-specific event
That was seriously impressive!
27 width with 3 artillery is really good, but its also really expensive, you can only really do those as the superpowers(SU/GER/USA/JAPAN), the smaller nations just cannot afford them, its just better to make a 27 width with a different combination instead, costs far less.
Or just spam CAS instead as the smaller nations and make basic 10 width infantry with support divisions so that you can spam a lot of them out along with CAS, just make sure to send your planes to spain/japan/china for air experience and grab the -75% cost to make the planes better so that you can max your planes out (+5 in everything) with just 170 or so exp. (Just general advice for everyone in the comments section rather than backseating for the content creator).
yeah this example shows why 9/3s are bad, they are just too expensive. Dude had 50(!) mils on arty and thus got outproduced in air.
I do 3 arty only with the most industrialized nations, with the rest I either do 1 arty or 1 AA, the latter if I expect that I won't be able to compete in air production. In any case, 27-width is my go-to for any infantry build that is of good size, 15-width with probably 1 AA or 1 arty depending on circumstances/vibes if I don't expect high production capabilities and intend to use little to no support companies.
isn't 21 a better width overall, because it fits better inn to most terrain types?
@@muremuresen3725 yes and no. 10w will beat them either way. 10w will make better use of supply
@@muremuresen3725 21 width is good but expensive, you will need far more equipment for the 21 width than a simple 10 width. Maxing out CAS is more important.
There is no mountainside this time, also more bitt3r,
This is a greate video! Keep it up!
Bittersteel: where is their armies?!
Me: Russia, regretting a lot of bad decisions made on their part, eating snow burgers with a side of snow fries.
23:10 This feels like my most recent China game. Japanese are encircled, with no supply, still won't die. Then push out and get linked up with the rest of their army, encircle an army of mine, and then said army dies.
Could it that those units were being sustained by air-supply methods? I don’t play the game, but I’ve watched a lot of it.
If the enemy has supplies without a port or connection it is because they are supply dropping with their transports.
This was actually painful to early on. God damn navel invasions
I guess all the Italian and Swiss troops went to get some tatical milk
Hi bitter steel if you can do the persian empire agian it would be awsome becuse i tried your guide and it didnt work i tried several times and get nothing so i wanted to know i was the problem or not
Bitt3rsteel: makes 30W tanks when everybody knows 42-44 is the right option, with no AA.
AI: beats tanks with large infantry units and CAS.
Bitt3rsteel: "how is this possible??? " 😳
30w works fine, the Russian plains don't support large units very well anyway.
Yes, I forgot to add AA.
You deal with this kind of mess and not make mistakes as your brain melts from all the bullshit the AI can do.
@@Bitt3rSteel yeah, of course, I really appreciate the effort of playing past 1944, everything become so slow amd chaotic that is very hard go on when the AI outnumbers you 4:1 or something like that. Nobody can do that on ironman and make no mistake. But I still think that larger division would have had waay less issues, it's 1945, the supply are better than Barbarossa, especially if the player that sent the save game has at least half a brain and had built some railways to improve his core territory connections to the rest of his empire.
That's the good stuff right here.
You had around 10.000 planes in reserve
And no pilot, that was the issue
@@Bitt3rSteel True, you are right
@@Bitt3rSteel you had 500,000 manpower and still didnt put up planes wdym no pilots
@@cosubo8509 bruh, but the time I had manpower,y airplane reserves were down to about 1k each. And that wasn't going to counter 10k allied planes.
What's you CPU and GPU?
The good timeline
Please continue these disaster saves
The subs are dying because the Baltic is a shallow sea. Subs are really visible in those
Be thankfull for those tanks
So who are you at war with?
Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth: y e s
You had 1ml manpower
manpower problem must be not garrisoning Russia but taking it. And not putting coastal garrisons down.
man's first mistake was playing non-hisorical
Did the player buff the AI nations before starting the game?
Great Save!
I wonder if befriending the Americans and allowing military access would have helped....
im a bit late to the party but any way i can try to play this save myself?
I think the Ai was using thousands of transport planes to stop attrition (because the ai planes don’t receive attrition)
Should you use mechanized in stead of truck with a tank devision?
Yes. The bonuses are worth it
If you can afford it, yeah, there's not much reason not to.
But you lose speed with mechs right? So it stays situational i think
@@Lawnio You lose speed compared to motorized for mech 1 and 2. Mech 3 has the same base speed as motorized. So if we're talking about a fast infantry division then yeah, you might want to opt for motorized instead. But in the context of tank divisions, unless you're going for a particularly fast tank division it probably won't be particularly noticeable in most circumstances.
Here when the title was Making a save Worse

My man, regarding your execution order for all your subs, shallow sea has quite intersting modifier for subs. only +100% visibility :P gotta watch out because shallow sea is too shallow for subs to dissapear so they are treated like destryers :/ better off sticking to ocean, deep ocean and fiords.
Pleased to be able to watch your content, thumbs up! :)
With armor you can pull of 41-47 width
It gets weighty on supply lines. I'd rather stick to 30
Haha. I see we all suffer from the same annoying invasions the allies always do. whats the use of splitting up the airforce does it give an advantságe something else? 4:55
Air Wings at size get the benefit of their ace, while giving a good chance of generating aces.
Plus,.easy for.maths
@@Bitt3rSteel so its the same with armies and their limit for the generals at 24 divisions right?
Yes and no, it has to do with how the ace buff scales with air wing size

So. Much. Pink.
I hate late game Allies
constant naval invasions, 50k planes, 2000 divisions
doesn't matter how many you encircle they just replenish infinitely
When you have no manpower and have divisions in training, delete the divisions in training to gain manpower. You could have gotten 100k from the beginning of the game
Really neat, but I also needed additional units to pad the front.
I think 27 width is the only viable non-10 width division. I think low 20s arent great - may have made you suffer
too much pink
I thought for sure you were gonna lose this one. But then you attacked germany. And turned the tide massively
oh dear
I doubt anyone will see this but I just got my first pc and bought Hoi4 and it won’t run. I’ve tried going into the game files and running as an admin like everyone says to do but it didn’t work, I’ve uninstalled and re installed everything and nothing works. Anyone got any ideas

@Bitt3rSteel I think its time to do an ukrain lets play dont you think?^^
it feels bad laughing at this when they're now at actual war

Also this guy: goes for a lower conscription law?!
Allow me to explain: higher mobilization doesn't benefit manpower gain if the lower law hanst mobilized all it's capacity yet.
So i chose to ramp down one law to preserve my industry and recruitment time untill that law was fully mobilized.
@@Bitt3rSteel okay yeah makes sense
No one can be that stupid. This is a set up disaster save.Btw another great video from you Bittersteel

sometimes u just look at the save and ask
what tf did u do

that's why u dont just conquer shit. I could easily puppet russia and not only have like 80% of their manpower, but also not deal with garrisons and naval invasions coz u can just
not call them into a war
Country you release in war will get drag into the war too, also you probably lost factory + resource to your puppet
