@@jake.cee12 this is a debate I hear a lot, but I think that the channel name has multiple meanings. “Jerry-rig” is also a term that means DIY, also what was the video where he said it was his grandpas name?
@@itsnotnate420 indeed "Jerry-rig" is a general term for DIY and cobbling together something that's broken and making it work again. A popular term in the UK is: "Make do and mend" which means the same thing really. So like you I believed the channel name was derived from that, I can't say I've seen anything to suggest "Jerry" was his grandpa's name.

@@mrameezrajak it's been done, but not on a massive production scale. Sapphire is hard to produce, especially considering it needs to be "grown" in a lab.
That'd be the ultimate slap in the face to any company touting the strength of their display, just not talking about it like it's not a big deal 🤣
Increased scratch resistance would come at a cost of reduced shatter resistance tho.
@@pvshka that's not necessarily so. One of the reasons why gorilla glass or tempered glass in general shatters is because it's pressurized to maintain the ability to withstand being shattered upon impact.
Since sapphire crystal isn't done in that matter, I don't think it'd be more likely to shatter.
Maybe I'm completely wrong, and if you have any comparisons with contrary evidence... lemme know because I'm only assuming about this.
@@Ibonic its more a physics thing than process the harder something is the more Rigid it becomes meaning the less flex it can sustain before breaking. I'd lay money that between size of your average cellphone screen and needing to be quite thin to remain fully transparent and touch controll to work. would leave the saphire quite fragile the slightest bend to the screen possibly shattering it let alone any impact .
