- I have bad news about the OnePlus 10 Pro... Good news about shipping though!: Sign up at www.Stamps.com/jerryrig for a special offer that includes a 4-week trial, free postage, and a digital scale. No long-term commitments or contracts. OnePlus has been around for a long time... And usually does very well during my durability tests. But today... thats not the case. The OnePlus 10 Pro does not survive the JerryRigEverything durability test. It snaps in half... quite catastrophically. Thank goodness for spell check, cuz I'm not sure how to spell catestrofically without it. Either way, the OnePlus 10 pro, (or OnePlus 2 if you're into binary) did not survive.

The Li-Po battery has been cycled about 1800 times when they say it usually only last 300 cycles. Still a very fast phone using the Snapdragon 835 and 8gb of ram. Does everything i want it to. Only down fall is the camera isn't the best. When the battery dies ill just replace is and keep using it. If it completely stops working ill probably upgrade to a OnePlus 7 pro.

They made the worst possible decisions when it came to structural integrity, leaving the zone where it broke super weak. The camera bump ends there (weakness in the back glass), the volume buttons and antenna line are on either side (weakness in the frame) and the battery housing is right below (no internal component that could help with/prevent the bending (even tho you shouldn't rely on internals for that anyway))

Apple didn’t make a shift like that, they’ve kept their brand pretty consistent for years now. That’s why people are disappointed with OnePlus. Not just because this phone snapped, but for what that represents as a whole. You bet your ass OnePlus would have never released a phone like this in 2016.

For real, I enjoy these videos but I would never use Jerry's durability test as a major purchasing guide. Everything he does to these phones is orders of magnitude harsher than what any normal person will subject their phone to. I'm disappointed that the OnePlus 10 Pro didn't pass the durability test but at the end of the day it doesn't matter because most people are going to put screen protectors and cases on their phones. Most people don't keep their phones in their back pocket and then sit on them, with or without a case. I had a Nexus 6p which failed the durability test and it was doing just fine after 3 years when I traded it in for Pixel XL.

I think you should include drop tests, I'd be very interested to see how the current fashion for glass and ceramic rear housings stand up to a drop onto concrete from waist height or thereabouts, I understand these materials look great but most people use some form of protection which invariably hides these premium materials from view and adds more weight and bulk to already big phones!
Surely it makes more sense to use a more durable material in the construction of the phone and make the cover / case from glass or ceramic if a more premium material is desired, this would give people the option to change the look of their phone easily and as often as they like.
I've got an s21 that I've stupidly dropped many times, often when I open my car door to get out, it slides out of my pocket cause I'm too stubborn for a case, and it has crashed down onto pavement too many times to count, but honestly not once did it get cracked from doing do. Although it does have cracks, I don't remember exactly how but I did crack it somewhat early on, so it survived all those pavement plummets with pre existing cracks, but they still never spread or got any worse. Though the metal frame has a couple dings, screen has held up really well :)

Also it seems manufacturers have limited ideas for premium materials, we don't see the all aluminium or stainless steel phones of not so long ago anymore!

I've had One plus 1, 3t, 6t, and I recently upgraded to an 8T. On the used market the 8T is a pretty good deal. It's much faster than the 6T and it pretty much competes spec wise with even newer flagship models. Well worth the 400 I spent on it. The 9 series and the 10 series look like a waste of time IMO. My plan going forward is to buy a slightly used phone 12-18 months after releases. Hopefully one plus can redeem itself before I'm ready to buy a new phone.
When the founders of a company leave the company, you know that there is something wrong....
As a structural engineer, yes, there is a natural yield line between the battery and camera. this weakness is in fact exacerbated by the layout of the buttons and cutouts.
The OnePlus 6 is where it started for me. Just outstanding value for the price, but their newer mainline phones just don't seem to have it anymore. However, their Nord line of phones are an amazing bang for your buck. I currently own the OnePlus Nord 2 Pac Man edition, and it's an amazing phone with an extremely affordable price compared to competitors and the OP 10 pro and OP 10. But I truly wish they'd focus more on what made the older models and the Nord models so great.
Same for me, I got the 6T model, since I was checking their releases to get a new one, but none of the new one got my attention they lack the "Flagship killer with the correct price" that make the difference.
ONEPLUS 10???? 😂😂😂😂😂😂
It's exactly the same construction mistake that the ROG Phone 5 has. They both have a seperation between a battery and PCB run along the entire width of the phone, and a weakness in both side rails at the same location. It's even specifically an antenna band on one side for both phones! (But the second weakness on the ROG Phone is the fan connector, not the volume button.)
Even for Asus, who doesn't have as big a name in the smartphone market as OnePlus, it's a bad design, but for OnePlus, who has a much bigger market share and more experience (if you include Oppo's other phones this is amplified further), making the same mistake a year later is even more disappointing.
On the note of the ROG Phone 5, though, regarding your question at the end, I do have one, I do enjoy it, and I keep my phone in the front pocket anyway. But, even though the positives do outweigh it in my view, the construction flaw is still very bad and I do think about it every time there is any sort of stress on the phone.
Honestly I'd say these videos do affect my buying choices, because the last phone I bought, I did after checking out your videos on it, so... yeah!
I'd say the same if I wasn't broke

Then again, if you put your phone at that much risk of breaking then smartphones, especially the newer more expensive ones probably aren't the best option anyway.
Doubt under normal use of an owner that takes care of their things it'll ever be in situation where it can break like that.
God's work sir!!! You earned another sub. Most reliable flash!
I just love how you apply your subtle insults in the video, just amazing
As nice as the newer phones have looked, I think I'll have to go elsewhere when I eventually upgrade my 7 Pro.
zenfone 8 flip if you want a full screen phone,
(which is basically the same specs as 7 pro but better) and it can flip its camera module
or just the 8 if you want a compact phone at 5.9 inches.
also, both have zenui, which is clean software
@@0638 no one wants that cheap shitty android phone💀
I'm going to wait one more year at least.
@@nateluthor4643 up to yr decision my guy
There has never been a phone better than this one and never will be in OnePlus series.
Just bought a OnePlus 10 pro in the US through a tmobile store. Not gonna try to bend it but will note camera is now 48mp so structure May have also improved. Will note to be careful with it though. Didn't realize the back was glass. Also did not come with plastic screen protector
Hey jerry do you resell the phones you've tested?
First the camera, then the much loved OS and now the structural integrity; everything is just going downhill for OnePlus lovers.
What's wrong with the camera and os?
@@MariusMerchiers the camera is shit ,not as good as Samsung and apple, and os has started to mix with color is of oppo
@@amrit5679 but it's colorOS for now because oneplus 10 is only out in China. When it's get released in Europe and USA it will be OxygenOS. And the camera will never be as good as Apple or Samsung. But it's always better than the previous year
@@MariusMerchiers nah. not only that. oneplus has known for been flagship killer. but now they entered the flagship territory. with that kind of money. i'm think i'll go with samsung for quality, camera & updates. goodbye oneplus
@@MariusMerchiers Ya,but Samsung galaxy s22 ultra is the phone to go for, instead of this Chinese

Please could you teardown the new oneplus 11, i am very curious to see it cause i have recently purchased it. Please
Whoa! I had intended to wait for the 10 Pro, but my last phone early, so I bought the 9 Pro instead. Dodged a bullet there.
It's a feature, OnePlus 10 is actually a folding phone.
Oneplus's durabilty failed along with their general hardware to the software to the company in general.
@@restorebrokenphone9013 yea don't know why they are intentionally drowning their own brand
Damn...that has got to be the best flash on the market bar none!
dude you got kratos hands ? how can you sustain no injuries grabbing that glas damn!!
There's a few things wrong with OnePlus's implementation of a "camera contour" module. First of all, there's more points of compromise because they stuck the cutout lower instead of just using up the upper corner area. It also doesn't help that the extended "housing" of the camera is seemingly too thin to actually help with any structural integrity at all. Then OnePlus decided to stick other points of compromise with an antenna and the volume button right where the battery and the main logic board meets. Compared to the S21U, which OnePlus clearly borrowed heavily from, the 10 Pro just looks like an unpolished copycat that only got the exterior somewhat right, but the actual inside engineering is highly questionable.
China used to grow by being a copycat, and... grows by being a copycat
Its a chinese phone wtf do you expect lol
Interesting, 10 Pro is basically a 9 Pro refresh (with downgraded Ultra-Wide), yet 9 Pro did not even budge at bending test.
I noticed the same on samsung
It's literally WORSE than last year's phone... even the worst iPhone refreshes aren't as terrible haha
@@tommymician121 Still interested in OnePlus 10 Ultra global release this spring/summer with Periscope, MariSilicon X ISP and SD 8 gen 1+ made by TSMC. Just hope it is not a waffle as 10 Pro.
@@TheChazas sounds nice but is it really gonna be better than the s22 ultra with it's s pen etc.
@@tommymician121 honestly, who knows. and well pen is a niche thing, and personally I dont need it, instead I would take more battery or bigger sensors for the space pen uses up.
I keep wondering what to upgrade to once my oneplus 7t has aged. I don't see any draw to stick with oneplus anymore though and I've had 3 of their phones since the oneplusone first launched.
Hey Jerry a request, you have to get your hands on the oneplus 11, I have pre-ordered it and I am having nightmares of it snapping in half.
Please take this Oppo-rtunity to tell us Zach

After owning the OP7 Pro, with it’s amazing durability, I am glad that I realized the newer Oneplus phones were really bad. Things sure did spiral down quickly though, only 3 phones later and it is already this bad.
One plus isn't the same.
@@kamallb4650 pei left right?
You are tripping, the newest one is just as good as other flagship models. Get over the pop up camera already

OnePlus CEO : "For God Sake. That's because I don't want you to break that thing Jerry!"
He is so brave , using brave hands to remove the glass from the broken phone
I love the look and aesthetics of the Oneplus 10 pro, could go toe to toe with the Galaxy S21 Ultra in the looks department. its unfortunate how easily it broke, as i was looking at it as my next replacement from the Galaxy Note 10 Plus.
Thats not broke, that’s called “feature”
go with a pixel 7 pro when it comes out in OCT
I am always concerned about phone durability. I remember cracking my iPhone 5 just by putting it in my back pocket and sitting down in a car. Having to replace a phone screen with curved edges, it’s definitely a concern. I wouldn’t buy this if it was possible to be snapped by hand. My stuff goes through so much abuse that stuff requiring gentle care is totally off the radar
I'd suggest a cat phone mines srioved falls up to 5 mtwrs on concetre of a scaffolding
Who would've thought glass would crack when sat on.
