Hawks: “I’m just terrible at holding back how I feel” Translation: “I’ve been putting up a front my whole damn life, I’m gonna take every chance I can get to be honest”
Hawks is one of the most contradictory characters in the series. He is a man that goes outside of the norm of an average hero but he also works the most with the government. He is a man who doesn't hold back but is also an expert liar. He believes hero society should have treated people like twice better and yet is willing to kill him. I think that hawks in many ways shows how messed up this system and really hope that he survives the current arc for further development.
I think that's the duality of Hawks the public know him as this laid back joker always quipping and being cool with fans saying whats on his mind when in reality he's a uber competent pragmatic spy and assassin that will take any measure to complete his mission thats what makes him interesting.

Yeah. Many of the characters idolize all might but it’s cool when you hear of a character who’s fav isn’t all might. It helps them stand out more as well.
I think all the hate Hawks is getting is dumb and one-sided. Twice is a cool character, and I really liked him, but the moment he refused to surrender was the moment he had to go because of how big of a threat he was to innocent people. I don't think he was a bad guy, but his overwhelming loyalty and devotion that he had for his comrades were extremely dangerous and easily exploitable. Don't forget that he was a part of a criminal organization with someone like Shigaraki at the reigns who only wants destruction. From what I see, Hawks is the type of hero who would corrupt himself for the greater good; a world where heroes have too much time on their hands. Although it might seem contradictory, Hawks had to kill Twice out of necessity because he would've inevitably been a major threat to innocent lives.
Bro, I think everyone gets that. The so called hate is more of a anger stage of grieve (it is one of the five stages) than anything and, since Hawks dealt the killing blow, it goes to him. In other words, people are just mourning, no need to explain what you did because of that. By the way, the fact that people are mourning Twice this much just goes to show how likeable, popular and overall good of a character he was. I relly liked him as well.
Design, personnality, writing, narrative purpose and use, dialogues, relationships with other characters and their own development, backstory, heroic ideals... Yup, 10/10 on this one, horikoshi

To me one of the most interesting aspects of mha is the problematic of this hero society and heroism that each character symbolizes (being All Might, Deku, Endeavor, Ochaco, Stain, Kirishima, Mirio... each character embodies an aspect of what the term "hero" could be in this universe). And Hawks ideal of a world where heroes can be bored, his admiration for endeavor's efforts, and his keen eye concerning the need of a symbol of piece and thus the role he plays in endeavors' ascension.
Hawks isn't just a reference to Angel, but he also takes traits from Robin. He's the light-hearted, bird-themed foil to the prickly Endeavor, who is basically the Batman to All Might's Superman. His attractiveness and carefree attitude in the field are traits that fit Dick Grayson when he's Nightwing. However, his perceptiveness is similar to Tim Drake, the Third Robin, who also looked up to Batman as a kid like Hawks looked up to Endeavor.
All Might: Smashes. Hawks: Knows everything going on at the scene and the surrounding neighborhoods, and is simultaneously taking the trash out at home, saving some pedestrians from a drunk driver, stopping a robbery, and walking the dog mid-fight with the League of Villains. Hawks: Is ranked lower than All Might.
To be fair hawks isn't even trying to be high ranked. He doesn't care and was barely trying. Im not sure if he could be more popular than all might if he tried (that's a tall order even for him) but he definitely couldve beaten endeavour in ranking if he tried.

If he must somehow do harm to Hawks.. I would hope he puts him out of commission for a bit. It makes sense it Tokoyami does succeed in saving him. But I hope this isn’t the end for him. There’s a lot of information that Hawks knows that the Hero Public Safety Committee needs as well as the heroes. And they should be outed for taking advantage of heroes like Hawks. Who knows who else they have tried to train and do this to?
KutieTenshi45 my personal theory; Dabi aka. Touya Todoroki. I think that endeavour might have signed him up for the Programm but Touyas body couldn’t take it. And what happens to the ones that just can’t take it? They get rid of them. Maybe they thought he was dead but he survived and ended up becoming a villain. This would explain his burning (sry couldn’t help myself) hatred for hero society and the committee in general. This would also explain that he introduced hawks to the league in the first place. If they knew each other from the program, Dabi knows that Hawks went through the same thing, which is why it would be reasonable for him to share a secret hatred for the committee. Hawks just might not remember Dabi (and I mean he has changed his look and probably his demeanour quite significantly) also he could just believe that he is dead, which is probably what he was told (like he burned himself to death, he died during one of the training sessions or something)
I'm so glad that a character in BNHA is a pro hero, but didn't go to U.A. High. It makes the universe more believable. Edit: Fatgum too! (he's my fave pro personally)

“He’s also just really hot... so I don’t want him to die.” Why can I relate to this on so many levels? I have seen some haters out there too with the whole Twice situation. I mean, Hawks is a hero. He’s doing his job even if it hurts him. Not enough people understand that when you’re a hero your feelings can’t be exactly your main drive. Your feelings can’t be something that stops you from doing what’s right. Hawks understands that. But generally, he’s my favorite character and I absolutely love his design and everything. Hello, idk if anyone else caught onto this but I think another element of Hawks' design (the blond angel with red wings) is inspired by the Tarot card for Temperance. According to Google, the temperance card means one must learn balance, moderation, and that one must avoid extremes and take the middle road. The upright way predicts balance, moderation, harmony and the reverse card predicts illness, disharmony, and lack of patience. Everything sums up Hawks fairly well.

@Mistake 119 It’s similar, yeah. But this one’s more subtle, focusing more on how the target reacts to the reoccurring thought than the actual sensation itself. This is more about thoughts or ideas than sensations or feelings.
6:53 this moment is really funny to me because Hawks, well established to be cunning, intelligent, well trained in espionage, and always aware of the situation, when asked by a kid he basically just met "what's your weakness?" just flat out tells him, right out there in the open like it's nbd. Just a super spy being like "well lemme tell ya kid if you really wanted to kill me here's how you'd do it!" I suppose he's lucky this actually ended up saving his life in the end.
Besides manipulating Twice and then later killing him, using Tokoyami to gather intel on UA then sure! He did nothing wrong! But that’s just the beauty of his greyness.
Hawks hands down is one of, if not my favorite character(s). Thanks for doing this video, I didn’t gain any new info from it, however it was nice to hear of all his feats all in one go. I’m actually in the middle of drawing a fan art of him, and it’s the most complicated drawing I’ve ever done. Now seeing the desc, I actually did start to read the manga because of hawks. I thought he was a really cool character so I was like " Fuck it, I'm finding an online bnha manga " I feel really bad for him though, I don't know exactly why but from what I tell myself already I assume he probably has depression or some major issues with one thing or another, it's not hard to guess seeing that he's probably under a lot of pressure living a side life and trying to keep everything a secret. If I had to deal with that I would probably be extremely self destructive of my health. I don't know why I feel so bad for someone who doesn't exist, it's kinda stupid but a lot of these things remind me of some of the problems I have. The duality of his quirk suits him so well- the flashy, fast, sharp form of feathers is what everyone sees, but it's actually more important that they can be used subtly to gather information. Without the sensory ability he couldn't use feathers without looking directly at them and even then they would be very imprecise because he couldn't feel the air currents that would push on them.
I like twice, and i am sad that he's gone but Hawks had to do it. And its amazing bc Hawks actually said that he wants to help twice if only he gives up. I can imagine that if they were in another world(sksksks ) they would be good friends 😣

Why can I relate to this on so many levels? I have seen some haters out there too with the whole Twice situation. I mean, Hawks is a hero. He’s doing his job even if it hurts him. Not enough people understand that when you’re a hero your feelings can’t be exactly your main drive. Your feelings can’t be something that stops you from doing what’s right. Hawks understands that. But generally, he’s my favorite character and I absolutely love his design and everything. Great video 🤍
Hello, idk if anyone else caught onto this but I think another element of Hawks' design (the blond angel with red wings) is inspired by the Tarot card for Temperance. According to Google, the temperance card means one must learn balance, moderation, and that one must avoid extremes and take the middle road. The upright way predicts balance, moderation, harmony and the reverse card predicts illness, disharmony, and lack of patience. Everything sums up Hawks fairly well.

Hawks is like the perfect spy in the series, and he's really a huge fan of endeavor. It's crazy how skilled his quirk is and wants to make the world a lot easier for everyone.

Hawks hands down is one of, if not my favorite character(s). Thanks for doing this video, I didn’t gain any new info from it, however it was nice to hear of all his feats all in one go. I’m actually in the middle of drawing a fan art of him, and it’s the most complicated drawing I’ve ever done. I feel really bad for him though, I don't know exactly why but from what I tell myself already I assume he probably has depression or some major issues with one thing or another, it's not hard to guess seeing that he's probably under a lot of pressure living a side life and trying to keep everything a secret.
If I had to deal with that I would probably be extremely self destructive of my health.

The duality of his quirk suits him so well- the flashy, fast, sharp form of feathers is what everyone sees, but it's actually more important that they can be used subtly to gather information. Without the sensory ability he couldn't use feathers without looking directly at them and even then they would be very imprecise because he couldn't feel the air currents that would push on them.
