In fairness his name is Jack Bright, and artists probably want their drawings to be instantly recognizable, but I think it would be cooler if they showed him in a multitude of bodies. The stories probably touch on those aspects more but; admittedly, I haven't read many of them involving Dr. Bright, or at all really.

He said on a livestream once that he really doesn't like the whole -J thing and that any and all memes (not just SCP ones) are annoying. He is much more interested in the darker parts of fiction that he explores.
I like to think the things dr. Bright is not allowed to do is canon and it shows how insane he is becoming. He plays it off but the stress of his existence is making him completely lose touch with any societies' norms.
I like to think that the list is canon but mot of those things never really happened. Like, a bunch of his coworkers just ssaw some of the crazier stuff he did and decided to make a whole list of things he shouldn't do as a joke to mock him.

For anyone new to the universe of SCP, I would like to provide a kind of addendum to this video.
In the years since this video, the IRL AdminBright (the former admin who created the character and uses him as an avatar) was outed for doing some pretty terrible stuff to a lot of people, to put it lightly. Long story short, a lot of users don’t like that the character Bright is in their articles now. A lot of people are willing to keep him in them, while others are deciding to change the character’s name in their articles to “Dr. Elias Shaw” who is functionally just Bright with a different name but without the direct connection to the user. It’s fully in their right to do that, even if you personally lean towards “art ≠ artist”.
So if you see Dr. Shaw in any articles, know that he’s pretty much Dr. Bright and most likely was originally Dr. Bright before the controversy happened. Bright’s list has also been deleted due to the list’s popularity being how AdminBright was able to do the things they did (plus it honestly just kinda sucked and didn’t age well relative to the rest of the wiki). It’s a sucky situation all around.

I've met all of the Brights that have been in the Foundation. I've had cooperative work with Dr. Bright specifically and he's definitely earned the name "The Deadpool of SCP". Not due to his immortality nor his questionable sense of humor, but due to the fact that he craves what most people have. The ability to die. I often hear him mumbling on ways to get rid of himself which are usually ruled of as things he shouldn't do.

Hey there! I'm glad I could do the Bright family justice. I really don't care for the whole meme side of Bright that is popular now, so I wanted to show people it's more interesting than that. I debated about the pronunciation of Mikell between the two common versions, and so I just picked one. I put these videos together fairly quickly, so I don't really go into as much detail as I should, but I'm glad you liked it.
It is really and truly awesome. I'm not complaining, I am flattered that anyone would put this much effort into my boy. And yes, people tend to assume the list is the be all and end all of Bright, even with the top disclaimer.
I actually prefer the stuff involving him outside of the list....I can't remember the name of the story, perhaps it is in this video (haven't watched it all at the time of typing this), any the story was of bright explaining how even after everyone else was gone he would still be there teaching and training the next generation of the foundation....there was more the story but it was really good. @@CaptainCDuckman

Dr. Bright is easily my favorite character, there's a few that are pretty good but Bright combines a sense of hyper competence and an almost cartoon logic with undertones of a super villian and it's just brilliant.

So, have you thought about where you're spending the rest of eternity? I'm sure you know heaven/hell are ideas, but what if I told you They're real? In fact they are. You see humans are like potted plants. Ever since the he fall we've becomes the ones that choose witch seeds get planted. We justify little sins, because we can rationalize them. But those sins seep in our souls like tea. It slowly taints our essence, until we're justifying worse and worse sins. Those sin seeds grow into weeds that blind us to the Truth. We see others doing worse, so we rationalize that we're still good people. But those seeds always bloom into evil we cannot control. Then we become monsters. Most people don't want to be evil, so we prune ourselves. However, once we die we continue to grow. This is why Hell exists. God cannot allow bad plants into Heaven, we'd destroy it. That's why he gives us this life on Earth, to better our relationship with him, so that he can kill those wicked weeds. This only happens with the blood of Jesus Christ, and can only be gotten though our own free will. You need to forgive your parents, we all have problems with them, don't lie. It's a representation of or problems with God. To be forgiven we must forgive. Everyone, but your parents especially. After that, brake down before Jesus, ask for forgiveness, and read the Bible. God will enlighten you to so much after that. It will literally be like seeing for the first time. There's so much going on beneath the surface layer of reality, but you can't be taught, only learn. Reading the Bible will actually be fun at this stage, I know that sounds impossible, but it is true. God has given us so much truth, so many promises, you'll delight in learning them. Plus he'll shower you in great blessings. True joy, inner peace, love, fulfillment, etc. It all lies in service to the Lord. There truly is no greater happiness. I hope you get the message. @@landonsmith8604 oh dear it's complicated. The author who created Dr. Bright, who had the user name Dr. Bright on the wiki was a real creep. Like the worst of the worst kind of creep. Because of the real world drama that he caused a lot of the larger and well respected creators on the wiki properly ejected the author from the wiki. Unfortunately, the character is also being ejected. Dr. Cimmarrean (I'm bad at spelling) did a few videos explaining why he was editing his past works to replace Bright with a different character. And that seems to be general consensus. Just erase him and replace him because his creator was a creep. To me Dr. Bright is the man who brought the dragons back. And I don't like seeing the character being erased. The real world Bright didn't commit any crimes, he just had some really creepy habits. Sure, exile him from the community, he should be. But other authors took his creation and made some wonderful tales, those should not be ejected as well. Jack Bright is not the product of his creator's sins, but he's being erased because of them.
@@spicytrashpandactually the real world Bright also known as AdminBright or TheDuckMan did commit real world crimes but regardless the character Dr Bright belongs to the community and not everyone is choosing to replace him only around 2-3 popular authors on the wiki are doing so and everyone else is either continuing to use Bright or using another rewrite, ultimately it’s up to the individual to decide what they want to do about the character and how they feel about him but no one should be policing their decisions or making others feel responsible for the actions of a creep they had no control over.

You should really cover scp 4121, basically it explains why nothing is done about the really dangerous SCPs, and how they never seem to do anything very harmful

@@EvelynNdenial There are plenty of SCPs that explain how it is fictional. Some also explain that the SCPs exist in an alternate universe and they constantly make mentions about people on computers, typing. A lot of SCPs are meta.

I like to believe that Dr. Bright was actually the one to post the original SCP post on 4chan (or whatever it was) on accident, didn't realise until later, then screamed because it got popular and deleted it, but was too late. I just find it funny.
