*LOVEBITES* can be a bit overwhelming at first. As for their history, the band started when Miho, the bass guitarist, was looking to form a new band after a group she was in called Destrose finally called it quits. She and Destrose's second of three drummers, Haruna, got together with two guitarists that they knew from playing festivals, Midori and Miyako. Midori, the blonde, and Miyako, the brunette, weren't doing anything after their previous groups split up. Asami, the singer, has a background in classical ballet as well as singing R&B and soul, plus she did live backing vocals for a couple of rocks groups. She was looking to try something new, so she put out a demo that found its way to Miho. They got together in 2016 and played Halestorm's "Love Bites (So Do I)" and thought everything was a good fit. They write all of their own stuff, though they often collaborate with Mao, the keyboardist from a defunct band called Lightbringer. In the years since, they've released three EPs, three albums, one single, seven live releases in one form or another, and one compilation "Best of" album. They've played in several different countries, perhaps most notably Germany when they played on a side stage at Wacken 2018. Unfortunately, their 2020 tour, the tour this video was taken from, was cut short due to covid. They made up those dates in 2021 with mini-tour of three or four dates where the audience was highly-restricted in what they could do as well as being reduced in capacity - again, covid. After that, Miho left the band in August of 2021 for reasons that are still unknown. The band went on official hiatus, Asami got married, and Miyako got married and had a child, and that's the last we've heard of the four remaining members aside from various minor social media posts. Oh, and Haruna makes miniature food out of clay. It's adorable and she's really good at it. "Holy War" is a great intro to the band. It shows off what the five of them can do and gives you a good idea of their core sound. As far as where to go next, I'm going to suggest the song from their first video, "Don't Bite the Dust," but I'm going to recommend the live version from 2021. Miyako just posted a photo of her sitting at her keyboard in front of her music software program, probably working on new music. All four of the remaining members posted a New year's photo of the four of them together. So the band is a little more active than they let on.

They compose, arrange and play all their songs. The bassist Miho was the leader and the founder of the band but regretfully left the band last summer. She founded this band with the drummer Haruna, they spun out from legendary female band Destrose when they broke up the band. It was at the end of 2016. Those women are metalheads '(the singer met metal when she joined the band) and they are heavily influenced by all the great bands from golden ages of 80s and 90s, and also by romantic era classic music. Great reaction!!! When you take 5 classically trained musicians that have seriously studied 70's-80's metal and rock guitar groups you get Lovebites. They have it all! From production, lyrics, vocals, song structure, dress, stage presence and performance they get an A+! The song structure is what really sets this group apart from others. From chord, tempo, and multiple transitions they extend normal attention spans to over 6 minutes for most of their discography. That is amazing! Lyrics are very thoughtful, empowering, encouraging, and mostly optimistic contrasting with most metal groups of the past which certainly in their musical style is still similar without all the darkness associated with that musical genre. Their dresses white with gold laminates and high heels is marketing genius due the extreme contrast with other metal/hard rock bands. That they all present themselves to their individual taste is another asset within the same theme of their outfits. They are attractive as well as extremely marketable with such a look. Stage presence is superb with each member allowed to be themselves. The ballerina moves of Asami demand the audience’s attention. As to live performance I doubt there is a band in the world that can compete with them in terms of their virtuosity all being classically trained musicians. Can anyone name a current group with 2 guitarists that play so well together with such precision and variety? They have a huge inventory of live concert videos. Enjoy the dive into this great group

Welcome to the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their five years of existence as a band, they set a standard that easily puts them on a par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels sent to save us, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. Whatever the description, I think one can say they have given metal a badly needed makeover and maybe a new lease on life. They have themselves said that part of their mission is to save heavy metal from darkness and obscurity. Some background: They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and soul of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the greatest European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands. The whole group then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed most of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics. They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. This is one of their usual first songs for reactors, and rightly so--you get a good sense of the band. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like a demon). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band." You have no idea what you just got yourself into Sky. Lovebites is phenomenal - Miho the bassist and Haruna the drummer put out this heavy beat at a super fast and non-stop tempo. Asami, the vocalist has a powerful voice, and Midori and Miyako, the guitar players - what can I say about them but that they are among the best in the business. I've been listening to heavy metal since 1980 and never has a pair of guitarists captured my attention like Midori and Miyako have. Midori is the blonde with the purple guitar and Miyako has black hair with the wood grain Dean guitar. Miyako also shreds the piano. They do amazing solos like this in every single one of their songs and often harmonize and play duets as well. It is really amazing to hear and see. This band sounds better live than in the studio, thanks to their videos being professionally mixed by the same people who do Nightwish.

I 🤍 Miyako. They are all amazing though. You need to check out Swan Song with the Chopin piano intro. If you want to see a young woman (18 yrs old) dominate a stage with a dominating voice check out Diana Ankudinova singing a dark, almost creepy, mind-blowing cover of the Elvis Pressley song Can't Help Falling in Love live on Russian TV a few months ago. It's amazing.

Lovebites is fantastic. Only discovered them this past year. The all female rock/metal bands from Japan are just killing it. Another all female Japanese band I recommend for you to react to is Band Maid. They are more rock than metal. Their music videos are great but they really shine live. All of the members have great stage presence. They just seem to have a fun time playing together that it's infectious and the crowd has fun as well. It's to bad the bassist left the band, hopefully just temporary. And they went on a temporary hiatus. Amazing they have only been around since 2016, have 3 studio albums, 4 EPs, 2 live albums, and a new hits album. They sure keep busy.

Hi, the five members of Lovebites are all well-educated, sophisticated, insanely talented musicians at the top of their game and are all around thirty years old. Individually they have been active on the Japan metal scene for around ten years and playing in Lovebites for four years.. Miyako the black haired guitarist is the mother of a six month old child and performed several two hour concerts while she was 4/5 months pregnant last year. In their own words "We're not here to be cute, we're here to be heavy."

*LOVEBITES* can be a bit overwhelming at first. As for their history, the band started when Miho, the bass guitarist, was looking to form a new band after a group she was in called Destrose finally called it quits. She and Destrose's second of three drummers, Haruna, got together with two guitarists that they knew from playing festivals, Midori and Miyako. Midori, the blonde, and Miyako, the brunette, weren't doing anything after their previous groups split up. Asami, the singer, has a background in classical ballet as well as singing R&B and soul, plus she did live backing vocals for a couple of rocks groups. She was looking to try something new, so she put out a demo that found its way to Miho. They got together in 2016 and played Halestorm's "Love Bites (So Do I)" and thought everything was a good fit. They write all of their own stuff, though they often collaborate with Mao, the keyboardist from a defunct band called Lightbringer.
In the years since, they've released three EPs, three albums, one single, seven live releases in one form or another, and one compilation "Best of" album. They've played in several different countries, perhaps most notably Germany when they played on a side stage at Wacken 2018. Unfortunately, their 2020 tour, the tour this video was taken from, was cut short due to covid. They made up those dates in 2021 with mini-tour of three or four dates where the audience was highly-restricted in what they could do as well as being reduced in capacity - again, covid. After that, Miho left the band in August of 2021 for reasons that are still unknown. The band went on official hiatus, Asami got married, and Miyako got married and had a child, and that's the last we've heard of the four remaining members aside from various minor social media posts.
Oh, and Haruna makes miniature food out of clay. It's adorable and she's really good at it.
"Holy War" is a great intro to the band. It shows off what the five of them can do and gives you a good idea of their core sound. As far as where to go next, I'm going to suggest the song from their first video, "Don't Bite the Dust," but I'm going to recommend the live version from 2021. It's not as heavy as "Holy War," but it's fast and has a great groove.

Midori just posted a clip of the Tokyo 3D billboard with Lovebites Nameless Warrior music video playing on it. Miyako just posted a photo of her sitting at her keyboard in front of her music software program, probably working on new music. All four of the remaining members posted a New year's photo of the four of them together. So the band is a little more active than they let on.

Great reaction, Sky!! Wolfpack (guys hanging around here) will give you all the details about Lovebites. Here's their outline. Both two guitarists are lead guitars. They compose, arrange and play all their songs. The bassist Miho was the leader and the founder of the band but regretfully left the band last summer. She founded this band with the drummer Haruna, they spun out from legendary female band Destrose when they broke up the band. It was at the end of 2016. Those women are metalheads '(the singer met metal when she joined the band) and they are heavily influenced by all the great bands from golden ages of 80s and 90s, and also by romantic era classic music.

When you take 5 classically trained musicians that have seriously studied 70's-80's metal and rock guitar groups you get Lovebites. They have it all! From production, lyrics, vocals, song structure, dress, stage presence and performance they get an A+!
The song structure is what really sets this group apart from others. From chord, tempo, and multiple transitions they extend normal attention spans to over 6 minutes for most of their discography. That is amazing!
Lyrics are very thoughtful, empowering, encouraging, and mostly optimistic contrasting with most metal groups of the past which certainly in their musical style is still similar without all the darkness associated with that musical genre.
Their dresses white with gold laminates and high heels is marketing genius due the extreme contrast with other metal/hard rock bands. That they all present themselves to their individual taste is another asset within the same theme of their outfits. They are attractive as well as extremely marketable with such a look.
Stage presence is superb with each member allowed to be themselves. The ballerina moves of Asami demand the audience’s attention.
As to live performance I doubt there is a band in the world that can compete with them in terms of their virtuosity all being classically trained musicians.

Welcome to the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their five years of existence as a band, they set a standard that easily puts them on a par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels sent to save us, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. Whatever the description, I think one can say they have given metal a badly needed makeover and maybe a new lease on life. They have themselves said that part of their mission is to save heavy metal from darkness and obscurity. Some background:
They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and soul of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the greatest European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands. The whole group then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed most of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics.
They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters.
This is one of their usual first songs for reactors, and rightly so--you get a good sense of the band. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like a demon). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. You have no idea what you just got yourself into Sky. Lovebites is phenomenal - Miho the bassist and Haruna the drummer put out this heavy beat at a super fast and non-stop tempo. Asami, the vocalist has a powerful voice, and Midori and Miyako, the guitar players - what can I say about them but that they are among the best in the business. I've been listening to heavy metal since 1980 and never has a pair of guitarists captured my attention like Midori and Miyako have. Midori is the blonde with the purple guitar and Miyako has black hair with the wood grain Dean guitar. Miyako also shreds the piano. They do amazing solos like this in every single one of their songs and often harmonize and play duets as well. It is really amazing to hear and see. This band sounds better live than in the studio, thanks to their videos being professionally mixed by the same people who do Nightwish.

If you want to see a young woman (18 yrs old) dominate a stage with a dominating voice check out Diana Ankudinova singing a dark, almost creepy, mind-blowing cover of the Elvis Pressley song Can't Help Falling in Love live on Russian TV a few months ago. It's amazing.

Lovebites is fantastic. Only discovered them this past year. The all female rock/metal bands from Japan are just killing it. Another all female Japanese band I recommend for you to react to is Band Maid. They are more rock than metal. Their music videos are great but they really shine live. All of the members have great stage presence. They just seem to have a fun time playing together that it's infectious and the crowd has fun as well.
