a small pigeon have a quest to a World Domination...
For that quest, she then create a band wearing cute outfit while playing cool music...
Online, the pigeon found soundwave princess, who then brought a half gorilla to join...
The half gorilla knew a barefooted assassin and agreed to join them...
Realizing her voice is not what she want in the band, the pigeon and the band search for the voice...
And they got the Ice Queen...
And now they march toward Nippon Budokan to dominate the land of rising sun.

I absolutely love seeing people have so much fun watching Band-Maid for the first time. You picked the happiest song out of them all...this is their favorite song to play live and it's been in more concerts than any of their other songs.
It's one of Band-Maid's hallmarks to change things up between verses so that nothing is ever a straight repeat. Most often it's more noticeable with the instruments, but of course with your training it's natural that you noticed it in the vocals.
If you want to hear what I consider their most 'anime' song, check out Cross. I think it's even better suited than their song that actually was used for an anime outro (Glory, used for Yu-Gi-Oh VRAINS).

Thank you, Julia this was very refreshing, getting a reaction / review from a voice coach there has been a lot of musicians that perform reaction / reviews of *BAND-MAID* in which they break down a song talking about transition and structure which enhances my listing pleasure and this is no exception.
Since you got a taste of *Saiki* vocals in 2020 would be interesting to see your reaction on their 2014 music video *Thrill*
You mention the stress on *Saiki* vocal cords in 2019 they had their world domination tour which consisted of 27 concerts Japan / Europe / United States. In the early years they would perform so much that *Saiki* had work with a voice coach learning how to manage and take care of her vocals.
    Here are some suggested songs:
🕊️ 2018 - Puzzle / Anemone (acoustic ver.) In this just *Kanami* on
the acoustic guitar with *Saiki* and the interesting thing she is sitting
    throughout the performance.
🕊️ 2020 - Wonderland This is more of a Jazz influence and really
    show *Saiki* vocal range.
Thank you for reacting to *BAND-MAID* with 6 studio CDs and 31 videos on their youtube channel there will be a lot of *BAND-MAID* to take in the future. 😁

Welcome to the World of Band-Maid. Saiki had surgery for vocal cord polyps I think 3 years ago. She really hurt her voice at the point of having a graspy voice and intense pain. The fact that she recover this well is impresive. If you want to hear more of her voice I recommend "Wonderland", it has more of a jazz feeling rather than hard rock so she shines a little more. Wonderland and I Can't Live Without You is probably the two songs that would make the most sense for a vocal coach to react to. Wonderland for obvious reasons, and I Can't Live Without You because it's the only song I can think of where she get's really aggressive with her vocals. It's really more of punk rock vocals than the usual pop/rock vocals she usually does.

I have no problem with whatever song she choose. Some reactors focus on the technical side, and some just enjoy and follow the vibe of the music. Of course there are reactors that do and enjoy both. So it's safe to give them the right song with their skills and interests that produce a symbiosis mutualism where they can explore the musicians and songs we recommend, and we can also benefit from their opinions, suggestions or reviews based on their expertise.

I saw them live in 2019, I was in the front row pressed against the stage in a small European theater, Saiki was often less than a meter in front of me.
I could hear his natural sound directly, with breaths and little grunts.
Saiki has an impressive natural intonation, and does strange things, perhaps because of what you say about preserving the voice,
For example, in some songs she doesn't strain at all and takes high notes almost as if she were blowing, I don't know how to explain it, it's a strange thing that you don't find in Western singers, it's like she tries to sing with her lips and not her throat, this thing is at first disappointing but she manages to fill this with a sweet emotion.
Then you think that Saiki cannot make high and powerful notes.
And shortly after she surprises you and kills your eardrums.
Even now, after two concerts and a lot of listening, I don't have a clear idea of Saiki's possibilities.
I can tell you that in 2 hours of the concert she takes some breaks, while the Band plays instrumental pieces, or sings only Miku, who manages to amaze with her tenderness.
Live the Band-Maid are incredible, they are powerful, precise and they give you emotion, they look like little girls who have fun, play often cuddle with each other, even while they play, Kanami often experiences moments in which she becomes wild she begins to jump all over the place while she plays, I saw her jump up on Akane's drums and play cymbals with kicks while Akane enjoyed seeing this wild Kanami, and Misa Saiki and Miku were laughing like crazy at seeing Kanami wild too, but this is not a script I've only seen it once.
I like what you say, and I hope you do more Band-Maid videos, you will see that with Band-Maid you will do a lot of visualizations because many people think they are the best rock band today, and I do too.

Thank you for covering Band Maid, Julia. It was fascinating to hear your expertise on a band that has captured so many hearts and minds with over 90 songs and 90 million YT hits! Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to these 5 incredible, hard-rocking women:

BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Consistency (nearly 100 songs with new album, “Conqueror”), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destine for mega-stardom. Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off the rails spectacular.
Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 50 favorites! "Thrill" (2014) is a great place to start: czcams.com/video/Uds7g3M-4lQ/video.html Their later songs drive even more - Rin’ne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Glory, Choose Me, I Can’t Live Without You, and on and on. But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE and Smile... or more punky like Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series! And many are represented with over 30 well produced music videos. czcams.com/users/BANDMAID
Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE concerts such as Tokyo's LINE CUBE SHIBUYA on February 14th (“Domination” czcams.com/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/video.html), ZEPP 2018, Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 and some of the better 2019 tour Fan vids. Here’s three of what it’s like to see Band-Maid LIVE at super intimate venues. The first taken by Vladimir Chupin in Hamburg: czcams.com/video/__1th7ctgMo/video.html, the second taken by JT Dayo in LA: czcams.com/video/4uIYBkAybCI/video.html, and third, JOSER8845 in LA: czcams.com/video/usWZvlGGDSs/video.html. If you like Band-Maid, make sure to support them by purchasing some concert tickets, CD, DVD/BD & Merch, etc. bandmaid.tokyo
Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid. For fun, check out an awesome, little known "Mega Band-Maid Mix" by DJ Ray of some of their earlier stuff: facebook.com/djrayboston/videos/1004709499579009
Band-Maid members are: (Ages are best est.).
Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals, arrangements, melodies and High Priestess mediator between the Gods (Band Members) and the masters and princesses (Fans). At 26 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Leader) as Miku calls her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away the persona. Her charisma, performance and voice focus the experience.
Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 28 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kurrupo! No, no, no… KURRUPO!!
Kanami Tono (Ka-Naw-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 28 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more!
Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 29 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumRilla” is the Party!
MISA (Me-Sa) "Assassin" - Bass, 27 years old. A sullen, barefoot, dark spirit driving her 5-string bottom-end to hell and back, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. The Mysterious One literally kills it… every note.. uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA!

"The most adorable musical bad asses I've seen in a long time!" - a perfect description that got my subscription! Well that and the incredibly detailed, insightful and informative analysis and your passionate reaction. I foresee you watching a lot more Band-Maid! Anyway, Band-Maid... Forget they're all female. Forget they're dressed as maids. Know that three members (Kanami-Lead, Misa - Bass, Akane - Drums) are classically trained pianists and musicians and that they all have superb skills as well as passion, a lack of ego and the ability to play real, in yer face, Rock which is why they are THE best live Rock band on Earth right now. OK, now that's explained, you can go back and marvel at how cute those outfits look and how incredibly beautiful all the band members are. The only band I've seen that is playing live like bands I went to see in the 70's, such as Led Zeppelin or Sabbath or Zappa. Real guitars, drums and bass played loudly and with passion as well as powerful Rock vocals with not an autotune in sight. They've revived the classic Rock sound and given the genre a much needed kick in the ass, as Babymetal have done for Metal. Future reactions I'd recommend, as they really shine brightest live, would be from the same concert as this one, which was released as a DVD in April. DOMINATION: czcams.com/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/video.html and WONDERLAND: czcams.com/video/x4hxLeHbqZo/video.html . Saiki, the vocalist, sings a lot of falsetto in Wonderland - very different to what you just heard. Also, well spotted, they don't do cut 'n' paste chorus-verse-chorus but always add some changes in the third chorus and some extra treats.
There is another excellent Japanese band who fit that description of yours even more - the incredible Babymetal. They even invented their own genre of Metal - Kawaii Metal/ Cute Metal. Their lead singer is a soprano with a range of C4 to G#5 and their songs are some of the best Metal around mixed with superb vocals, lyrics that are about very un-Metal subjects such as chocolate or playing Hide and Seek for example and epic live shows. Oh, and very cute. I saw Sabbath in 1976 and Babymetal in February and many in between and Babymetal really are the best thing I've seen in Metal for many decades. Here's a fairly recent song that shows off Su's voice well and has a beautiful guitar piece too, a heartbreaking ballad called No Rain, No Rainbow: czcams.com/video/pDgqo6fcliY/video.html or try something epic, fun and Metal as it gets - Headbanger: czcams.com/video/YjjWZpf_jSs/video.html .

Often overlooked is what Miku adds vocally. Harmony, counter point, solo or something completely different her vocal interactions with Saiki are masterpiece.
